katelynn.

it's now Friday and the week has been insane again between my schedule and his were both busy were out of school next week since it's my last year my schedule isn't as bad as it used to be when I first started. luca and I have been talking on the phone and through text. we haven't spent any time together since Monday. I have to cheer at the game tonight so he's gonna come along with his parents. they said they really want to support me. I'm now in the changing room trying to get ready when Luca send me a message

luca- hey gorgeous I can't wait to see you tonight. also I have a surprise for you ( smiley face)

katelynn- can I know what it is?

luca- nope not yet. I'll tell you while we have dinner at my place if that's okay with you

katelynn- dinner sounds good. waiting not so much

I continue to get ready then it's time to head out. when we run out we all do our tricks and I search the crowd for my people. my eyes land on luca still all dressed in uniform and I just want to drag him home. I'm beyond ready to spend time with Kate. this not seeing her is killing me and it puts me in a bad mood Even nate has mentioned it. she has told me she's off school next week so I have got some time off also my plan is to take her to Tennessee and spend a few days. I also plan on asking her to move in with me so I'm nervous as hell. I know we're moving fast but it feels like she's always been in my life. when she runs out I see her do her tricks damn my girl is hot! then when she sees me she stops and looks me over. I introduce my parents to her dad an they are all getting to know one another. me luna and Nate are talking as I'm telling them about the surprise for katelynn but as I'm talking luna's eyes go wide as she looking behind me so I stop and follow her gaze. and there he is. steven. shaking charles hand then taking a seat. I storm of I think it's best I walk away so I go grab a drink and stand by the fence. I'm staring over towards kate lost in my own head I don't hear her dad come over. " you gonna be okay son?" it takes me a minute to answer " uh yeah I'm fine"

he grunts " do you know why he's here?"

I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding " to try to win your daughters heart sir"

he nods " as long as you are aware. he told me over the phone a few days ago she's being stubborn but didn't mention coming back down"

" she's not being stubborn she told him to get lost and he can't seem to take the hint" I say angry " and honestly sir I know she can do better than me and I've even told her that but she says she doesn't want to be with him. I know you probably want better for her than me but I can tell you that I do love her with all my heart and I'd never let anything happen to her"

he chuckles and pats my back " that's where you are wrong son. I am happy for the both of you. she's happy and that's all I ask. and I don't trust that boy with my daughter so keep an eye on him because here pretty soon he's gonna find out he doesn't get the contract and he will be pissed. not because if his attraction to my daughter although it does piss me off that he thinks she should be falling at his feet but because I don't think he can do the work" I just nod my head because I'm not sure what to say. " if you don't mind I plan on take her on a small vacation this week and I know it's soon in our relationship but I have plans on asking her to move in with me" it's his turn to nod and think for a moment" just love her and Don't water down her spirit is all I ask" I smile " that I can do sir" I shake his hand. the game is ending so we make our way to the field gates to wait for her. we stand with my parents then I see her tiny body in the crowd and smile she runs to me and jumps in my arms and I just hold her. she is either completely ignoring steven or just hasn't noticed him either way I don't care. I grab her hand and lead her to the parking lot we all decided on pizza as we're walking she hops on my back and I laugh. we are almost to my truck when steven speaks up " katelynn I'd like to have a word with you" I groan

" sorry I told you all I had to say the other day bye now" she says and I smirk at him and continue walking then he says " you shouldn't speak to me that way do you have any idea who I am?" I ask worried his words hurt her she smiles " yes but you promised me pizza" she pouts " okay okay let's go" I kiss her nose and lead her to my truck.

once we get to the pizza place we're all gathered around the table everyone having some sort of conversation and I just take a moment to enjoy it. our family and friends seem to all get along which is wonderful, I start to think of next summer when I will have to deploy and all I can do is really hope katelynn can handle it. just this last one and I'll put my paperwork in, as I'm lost in thought I feel her small arms wrap around my arm arm she rest her chin on my shoulder. " penny for your thoughts?" she asks. I kiss her on the forehead " just enjoying our families getting along" I don't want to bring up the rest of what I'm thinking and ruin her mood. " so do you think you could stay the night tonight?" I ask hopefully. she smiles and seems to think for a few which makes me nervous " well of course I've been missing you" she says as her fingers start to play with the buttons on my uniform.

nate hollers over the table " get a room love birds!" making kate hide her face and I just laugh along with everyone else. my dad says " so the holidays are coming up what are y'all's plans?" I hadn't even thought of it. I guess we will have to split time some how but charles says " well I'm always away on business for Thanksgiving and depending on a few things I should be around for Christmas. I hear you have a grandbaby and I know Christmas is important to little ones so if you don't mind if katelynn joins I'll crash y'all's party as well." my dad smiles and nods and mama says " well of course! that'd be just lovely. everyone is invited! we normally have a Thanksgiving dinner and Nate always comes luna dear if you don have plans you are welcome also. of course katelynn you have to come or my luca want bother showing up" we all laugh and everyone agrees to the arrangement. we all finish and say our goodbyes her dad shakes my hand and tells kate he's leaving in the morning they hug for a moment before he says " I'm gonna deal with steven please don't let him bother you" she nods " I'm fine dad really be safe" .

nate is riding back with us and katelynn has moved to the middle cuddled up to my side as I drive. I rest my hand on her thigh and squeeze gentle, I can't wait to get her home but I really need to ask her about the trip first.

it's been a good evening I love that out families have hit it off. and yes I'm counting luna and Nate as family. doesn't really bother me that steven showed up acting an ass because I can't extremely turned on watching luca defend me. ugh!
