“I have to leave right away, Marina. Our pack’s sentinel died after Kessler’s rogues sneaked into the hospital last night to kill him. I’ll see you later.” She gave me a tense look as a tremor went down her body. I knew what she needed to get over this fear. I would have to find a reliable trainer for her.
“Be careful. He’s after you too,” she said with so much conviction that I wondered if he had threatened her too. Was that the reason she was rejecting me repeatedly?
