"I'm Axel." The boy said as he kept his head bowed. Logan looked at him and still didn't understand why he was looking for him.
"Don't you have a last name or something?" The boy quickly collected himself.
"I'm Axel Cooper. I'm sorry for being rude, I'm just happy to finally meet you."
"Do you know who I am?" Logan asked him as he tried to remember if he had seen this guy before.
"You're Prince Logan Fairchild. That I'm sure. I've been looking for you for a long time now and I'm glad to have finally met you."
"Axel, I have a wife at home who is waiting for me. Why don't you and I talk tomorrow and you can tell me how you know me? What do you think?"
"That would be great my prince. I have used up the money that I came with and I don't have a place to sleep. I don't want to ask a lot from you but please, do you have a spare bedroom where I can sleep for the night?"
"I can take him with me, Logan. I will ask the maids to prepare a guest room for him since he is a guest, your guest."
"That won't be necessary. I'll go with him." Logan said to his younger brother.
"Axel, can you give us some space?" Axel nodded his head at Kaden and excused himself.
"Brother, we don't know this boy and for all we know he may be here to cause you harm. There's security 24/7 in the palace, he will never try something funny there.
"You will see him tomorrow and you can talk to him. For now, go home to your wife and I'll go with him. I'll bring him to you tomorrow."
"If you insist. Just make sure he doesn't escape before he tells me why he is here and why he has been looking for me."
"I'll do that. Goodnight brother."
"Goodnight Kade." Kaden called Axel and they both left.
Logan looked at them as they left, he couldn't help but wonder why he felt like he could trust the boy since they've never met before and he is not someone who trusts strangers so quickly.
Axel on the other hand was different somehow, he felt safe around him as if his body and mind recognised something in him that he couldn't.
He felt at ease and that worried him to death because he couldn't explain it, to himself or anyone else. He figured he should just go home to his wife and unborn baby, at times like these, they are the only thing that keeps him sane.
He walked to his village and so many people were getting ready for the night, since Mercia is a small village, it was easy to know what each person was doing every day.
Well maybe not exactly but it was still possible people knew what was happening in each house. It has always been like that.
When he reached the house Tiara was waiting for him, just like she always does. He has told her numerous times to stop but she is a very stubborn woman.
"Darlin', I told you that you don't have to wait for me every night. I'm sorry I got held up, I know I promised that I would be back early." He went to her and carried her and made her sit on his lap.
"What if something happens to you while I'm sleeping? I can't sleep without knowing if you're doing okay or not and you know that."
"I know and I'm sorry. I would've came back sooner but there was something I had to take care of and then I kept thinking about something that I didn't realise I was just walking around the kingdom and not coming back here.
"It's something that happened a lot before we got married, I would just walk around the kingdom and think about whatever is bothering me and then I would come home very late."
"You have me now Logan, you know you can tell me anything and if something is bothering you then as your wife it is only fair that you tell me so that I can figure out a way to help you.
"I know we're still new to this married life but now you have to understand that you have to share your problems and worries with me."
Logan placed his hand in her stomach, the belly bump is not visible yet but it still feels good to know that there is something precious growing in there.
The thought of being a father still scared him to death but he knew he needed to be strong, his wife and kid needed him to be.
"I'm sorry, I should've thought about that." He kept rubbing his hand in her stomach. "You know it is funny how I never thought I'll ever become a father."
"Really?"
"Yeah, I always thought I wouldn't get married and if I didn't get married then I wouldn't need to have a child. Mercy has always been my priority but now everything has changed.
"Even though I would still protect this kingdom with everything that I have but it is no longer my top priority, you and our baby are.
"I would give my life for the both of you, no matter how many times I have to do that. Remember you asked me to question myself and I did.
"I have no doubt in my heart that I will always try my best every day to be a good father to our baby. I will go to absolutely any length to make sure that he has the best of everything this world could offer."
Tiara smiled at him, wrapped her arms around him and placed her head in his chest.
"Te amo Logan." She said as she held him even tighter.
"I love you too, now and always." He kissed the top of her head and held her closer to himself. It always felt good to have her in his arms.
When she fell asleep he carried her to bed and watched her as she slept. After a while, he joined her and pulled her closer to him until he too fell asleep.
When he woke up he went to the kitchen to prepare breakfast for his wife but he found his mother in the kitchen instead, almost through with it.
"Good morning mom, how did you sleep?"
"Apart from the fact that I was worried you would come home at midnight while your wife refused to sleep until she knew you were safe? I guess I slept well."
"I'm sorry for worrying you, I know I made a mistake by coming late and I will try my best to make sure it doesn't happen again."
"Well, you better be. No wife wants a husband who comes home late and no matter how much your wife trusts and love you, she will get tired eventually.
"Tiara is a good girl and I don't want you to ruin the good thing that you have. You don't know how lucky you are to meet someone like her in your life and very little people have such luck in their lives."
Logan smiled at his mother.
"You don't have to tell me twice, I know how lucky I am. Don't worry, I will never ruin anything with my wife. I love her and she loves me, I'm not going to give her any reason to doubt my love for her."
He helped her prepare the rest of the food and also helped her set the table. Once they finished he went back to his room to wake Tiara up.
She was already up though and making the bed.
"Hey, let me. You just go take a shower or head over to the kitchen to have breakfast." He pecked her lips and smiled at her. "Good morning, darlin'. How did you sleep?"
"Good morning, I slept like a baby. I was disappointed when I woke up and realised you were gone though."
"I'm sorry darlin' but I wanted to prepare breakfast for you. My mom had already started though so I just helped."
"That's okay. I just wanted to wake up next to you, no big deal."
"Nonsense, if my wife wants to wake up next to me every day then who am I to deny her that? From now on, I'll make sure that every day when you open your eyes, I'll be the first person you'll see, always."
"I would love that." She went to the bathroom and Logan made the bed and waited for her to finish. When she was done they went to the kitchen to have breakfast.
Clay, Malia and Arianna were there too, all of them ate breakfast together and prepared for their day to start.
Logan went to the training grounds and waited for Axel and Kaden. He had no idea when they would get there so he decided to use the free time to exercise.
When they finally came, Kaden excused himself and gave them space and even though Logan didn't have a problem with him there he was still grateful for it.
"How did you sleep? They treat you well?" Logan decided to initiate the conversation.
"For a commoner like me, the hospitality was great. Thank you for asking Your Highness."
"That's good. Since you are my guest, I would've preferred that you came with me to Mercia but my brother insisted that you come with me.
"He's convinced that you may have come here to cause me harm. Do I need to be careful in your presence?"
"Of course not Your Highness, I just came here because I wanted to meet you. I would rather kill myself than harm you."
"Let's say I believe what you're saying, how did you know you'll find me here?"
"I've been searching for you for years and I heard people talking about you, I decided to come and see you with my own eyes."
"I'm sure we've never met before so I don't understand how you knew I was the same Logan you're looking for. There must be someone else out there with the same name and surname as me."
"I'm not even Logan Fairchild, I'm Logan Morgan. I use my mother's last name that's all."
"I know I'm not mistaken, you're the Logan Fairchild I'm looking for. I also know that you're not a Morgan like you say you are, you're a Fairchild.
"You look exactly like your father, my father was right."
"How do you know my father? Axel, I don't know if you've met my father but you must know that I look nothing like my father.
"I've known that since I was a child so don't patronise me. I think you're mistaken and I would really appreciate it if you would drop all this nonsense."
"I know you don't believe me or maybe you just don't want what I'm saying to be true. It's okay, you can ask someone I know you'll believe." Logan looked at the boy and asked himself if he wanted to know who he was referring to.
"Who?"
"My aunt, she knows everything and I know you'll trust her words. You just met me and I don't blame you for having doubts, I would too.
"I came here because your people need you and you're our only hope. To understand all this you'll need to believe that you're not Logan Morgan but Logan Fairchild and that Fairchild is your last name, not your mother's."
Logan just looked at him, he couldn't believe that he was going to ask again because he was convinced that the boy was not okay.
"You just said it yourself that I need to ask someone I trust, someone I know would never lie to me and then you again, you are telling me to ask your aunt.
"I don't even know your aunt so I don't understand how I would trust her if I don't know her. Why would I trust someone I've never even met in my life?"
"That's because my aunt is the women that raised you, the woman you call your mother."
"The woman I call my mother? What are you talking about?"
"She's not your mother Your Highness, she raised you but she is not your mother."
My mother is not my mother?
