13. I'M AXEL

Logan didn't want to believe he was actually spending time with Kaden. After he woke up, he was a different person and he seemed to be trying his best to accept Logan. He even apologised for his mistakes, though Logan didn't know how long it would take him to forgive him he was happy that at least he was trying to be a better person. With a baby on the way, Logan wanted his whole family with him and Kaden was just a start. He wanted his father to be there too for the baby. He didn't want his child to be like him, to grow up in an incomplete family. "I don't know why I ever thought I had to compete with you, you're my brother and I've always seen you as an enemy," Kaden said as they walked around the kingdom. Logan didn't know if he wanted him to say anything so he said nothing. "You know, I have always admired everything you do but never said anything. My pride wouldn't let me. "I remember this one time that I wanted to ask you to train me and when I was on my way to Mercia, I felt like everyone saw that I was coming to your house to ask you that. "I immediately turned back and decided to ask Dad to find me a trainer outside this kingdom because everyone knows you train the warriors in this kingdom and you would have to train me too. "I don't know what was wrong with me and now that I think about it, I have made so many mistakes in my life." He kept talking and Logan decided to say something. "We all make mistakes Kade, even I make mistakes. It's in our nature." "What mistake have you made in this life? You have always done good things and you want to keep everyone happy. Me? I'm just a disappointment. All I've ever done is make your life a living hell." "You may have disappointed me a few times but don't call yourself a disappointment," Logan said to him as they reached the training grounds. Clayton was training three boys and a girl. Logan was supposed to train them but since his little brother could do almost everything Logan does when fighting, he thought he could take a break and let Clayton do the training. "He's good at this. I guess Mercy has two good fighters now. He fights just like you, just like he looks like you. If you guys weren't six years apart, everyone would think you're twins. Clayton is just like you." "We don't look like our father though, you do." "Don't do that Logan, we both know that is a complete lie. I look nothing like father, just like you and Clay, it's only Malia who does. "She should've been a boy with the way she looks. She's lucky Dad is a good looking man, otherwise, she would be a laughing stock." Logan couldn't help but laugh at that. Malia was lucky. He didn't want to imagine his sister looking like a very ugly man. "I didn't know you asked me to train your students so that you could spend time with him," Clayton said to Logan as soon as they reached them. Logan told the kids to give them some space and they did. "Firstly, I asked you to train them because I know you're capable of teaching them what I would, not because I wanted to spend time with Kade. "I'm not going to lie and say I didn't want to spend time with him but that's not why I asked you to train the kids. I could've told them that I was busy but I wanted you to do it. Secondly, Kade is older than you." "It's okay Logan, he has every right to be angry with me," Kaden told Logan. "You're right about that, I'm angry with you and it's not going to change. What you did to Logan is unforgivable and you should know that. I will never forgive you for it, never. Logan may forgive you and also forget but nothing will change." Logan didn't know what to do, Clayton was so stubborn. His little brother has always hated that Logan forgives people so easily. He knows if it were up to him, Kaden would be dead by now. Showing mercy is not his way, if you did a mistake, you should be punished accordingly and Kaden made a mistake. The fact that he realises his mistake now is not changing anything. "I know that too. I will never forgive myself for what I did too so I don't expect you to. I just wanted to apologise for everything and hope that one day you will find it in your heart to forgive me. I don't know what I will have to do to earn your trust but I'll keep working hard until you trust me." Clayton left them standing there and went to the kids that he was training and said something to them. They followed him and Logan was left there standing with Kaden. "He will never forgive me, Clay has always been good at holding grudges even as a kid. You can't force him to." Kaden said to Logan as they stood still. "I'm not forcing him to do anything, I just want him to at least try and give you a chance. Everyone deserves a second chance, even you do." "You may think like that but our little brother will never do. He's not angry with you and I'm sure he would've listened to you if it was something else you were asking of him but this, he has made up his mind and you won't be able to change it. "He hates that you spend time with me because he expected you to cut all ties with me. I don't even know why you didn't because if I were you, I would have." "You are my little brother Kade and as your big brother, I have made a vow to bring us together and I'm not going to change my mind. "I don't believe you are beyond redemption, I just think you didn't know what you were thinking or doing." Logan told him as they left the training grounds and kept walking around the kingdom. "I'm going to tell you something I've never told anybody, not even mother because I knew she would tell Dad and they would both say the same thing." Logan looked at him as he walked and stopped under a tree. He kept running his hands in his hair as if he didn't know how to put whatever he wanted to say. "What is it? You can tell me anything you know." Logan told him when he said nothing. "I never wanted to marry Tiara. I was angry when Dad told me they were looking for a princess for me to marry but I never said anything. "I have never wanted to go against him and I was worried I would end disappointing him so I agreed to marry Tiara. "When she said she didn't want to marry me but you, a part of me was happy but my ego wouldn't let me tell you that. "I don't even know why I challenged you because I never wanted Tiara. I knew you could beat me but I also knew you would never do it because you love me and I used it against you. "I am happy for you and Tiara, not everybody is lucky enough to marry the person they love. You and Clay are both lucky to have those you love with you." Logan could see Kaden was not telling him everything, he was thinking about his love life. "Who is she?" Logan decided to ask him because he saw that he was somehow in love with someone but couldn't be with that person. "Who?" Kaden tried to act innocent and Logan saw right through him. "The girl. Who is she? I can see she has stolen your heart, so I want to know her." "Her name is Cayla, she is a maid in the palace. She got here last year and I don't know when it happened but right before Dad told me about Tiara, I realised that I was in love with her. She hates me though, I have made her life miserable ever since she got here." "Have you told her how you feel about her?" Logan looked at his brother as he spoke. "What do I say to her? I just told you that I have been rude to her ever since she came to the palace. She hates me Logan and I caused it. I have messed up everything in my life." "Do you think I've never messed things up with Tiara? I messed up from the get-go but look at where we are now, we are married and we have a baby on the way. "All that matters is that you apologise and make her see that you will never make her feel unloved ever again. "If she loves you too, she will forgive you and all you'll have to do is live your whole life making it up to her, she deserved that." Kaden looked like he was in deep thoughts as he stood there and said nothing and then he looked at Logan and smiled like he has figured what to do. "You are right, I have to apologise to her and just hope that she feels the same too. I will never know until I try right? Thank you, Logan." "You're welcome. I am happy for you. Don't worry about your mom and dad, they will come around eventually." They kept walking around the kingdom and people kept giving the weird looks as they passed them, they were surprised to see them together. As far as the whole kingdom is concerned, Logan and Kaden are oil and water. "It still feels strange to walk around with you, even as kids, we never did," Kaden said as he looked at people who were looking at them. "I know right. I have never seen it coming. I had always hoped that we could be like normal siblings but I never thought we could someday work around that. "We aren't normal siblings yet but we'll get there. We all need that, our family together. I keep thinking about my child having his or her whole family together but Clay's baby needs it too, Arianna is due next month." "I can't believe our little brother is going to have a child before us. He's going to be a good father though, just like you. "I'm just glad I've never got any girl pregnant, my baby would have to suffer the same fate that you did. What happened to you is not something anyone should have to endure. "Father should have never allowed you to leave the palace. We should head back, it's getting late and you have a wife to go back to. I don't want to face Tiara, she could be dangerous when she is angry." "You don't have to tell me, I know her," Logan said as he laughed with his brother. "These days she gets so pissed off even for no reason, I wonder what happens to women when they get pregnant." "I don't want to know." Kaden kept laughing and Logan couldn't help but continue to laugh with him. "Your Highnesses." Both Logan and Kaden looked at Neo as he bowed before them. "What is it Neo? You look like you just saw a ghost." Logan asked him. "Someone is looking for you. He's been there for some time now and we kept telling him that he should come back tomorrow but he is insisting. What do we do with him?" "Did he say who he is?" Kaden asked him. "No my prince, he wouldn't say. He said he only wants to speak with prince Logan." "Let him in. There's nothing he can possibly do to me." "Yes, my prince." He left them and a few minutes later he was walking with a boy not older than Kaden. "My prince." The boy addressed Logan as he bowed to him and dropped his one knee to the ground. "I'm sorry for coming here at this hour." "Who are you?" Logan asked him, confused. "I'm Axel."
