Tiara did her morning rituals and decided to join the whole family for breakfast. When she got to the kitchen everyone was looking at her with curious eyes. They were all wondering if she would be able to adjust to her new life.
She just didn't understand why they were making a big deal of it. She always knew she would get married one day and that she would have to adjust to whatever life she would have after that happens. It was inevitable, no matter how many times she tried to push the situation aside.
From the day she turned 16, her mother would tell her about how a girl should behave with her in-laws, what to do and what not to do. It was pretty hectic and she was supposed to get married as soon as she turned 18 but being the type of girl she is, her father never forced her into anything.
He always believed his daughter had the choice of choosing how she wants her life to be, even her brother was angry about everything because as the crowned prince, he was forced to marry once he turned 18 and he expected the same thing to happen to his sister.
Tiara has been respected in the whole kingdom of Santana and everyone respected her decisions, they all behaved as if she was the heir to the throne, not a girl who will eventually be sent into another kingdom for marriage.
She looked at her new family and all of them seemed to wonder long she would have to stay with them before she realised this was not the life for her, especially Logan. Tiara could handle other people looking at her like she didn't belong there but not him, she wanted him to accept that he was never leaving him for Kaden, crowned prince or not.
Gail told her to sit as she rose from her seat and took another plate and put pancakes, eggs and sausages for her. She put the plate in front of her and got her a glass of orange juice.
"Good morning Princess." She said as she joined the table again. She didn't want her mother-in-law calling her the princess.
"Good morning mother-in-law. You can call me Tiara or your daughter."
"Then you can also call me Mother. How did you sleep?" She quickly looked at Logan after hearing that question and their little conversation after he came back wearing only a towel. A blush suddenly formed on her cheeks and she looked down at her food like it was the most interesting thing.
"I slept well mother, thank you."
"I'm sure you did. You were so eager to coming here and staying with my brother. Judging by the look on your face, my brother outdid himself. Please don't forget that the wedding is in four weeks, meaning no funny business between the two of you." Malia was a free spirit, she said whatever was on her mind.
"Malia!" Her brother gave him a warning glare.
"What? I'm just saying you guys should be responsible adults for the time being. I don't care what you do before that, after all, you'll be a married couple."
"Malia Morgan, watch what you say to your brother. He's older than you." Gail said playfully.
"Brother, do you want my opinion? Do whatever you guys want, you're going to get married anyway so what's the point of waiting?"
"Shut up Clay, my teenage brother will not teach me about love life. Never."
"Really? You don't even need a few tips? I can give you pointers." He said with amusement written all over his face.
"My love life is perfectly fine, thank you very much. Even if it wasn't, I would ask for advice from someone else, not my 19-year-old little brother." He rose from his seat and made his way to the sink. "I'm leaving in a few minutes, I have two kids to teach."
"Kids? Are you a teacher?" Tiara couldn't stop the words from escaping her mouth.
"Not that kind of teacher Princess, I teach them how to fight."
"Oh, can I come with you? I just hate sitting around doing nothing."
"No. You can go with my sister and do whatever girls do." He left without waiting for her to say anything. Tiara wondered how long it was going to be like that between them. Him being cold towards her and her trying her best to gain his attention.
"Don't mind him, we'll go shopping. I've wanted to do that for weeks but I just didn't get the chance. I have two new sisters now, it would be a crime if I didn't take them to do a little shopping." Malia squealed and Tiara knew from the look Gail and Clay gave her that Malia doesn't do little.
"I'm not feeling up to it. Raincheck?" Arianna asked Malia with hopeful eyes.
"Nonsense! My brothers' soon to be wives should be spoiled and who can do a better job than me? We are going shopping and then maybe a spa afterwards. Now make sure you make yourselves look good, I'm going to the palace and I would be back before you can even blink." Like that she left, leaving Arianna and Tiara looking at each other.
Meanwhile, Logan waited for the two boys that he was supposed to teach but they never showed up. He was about to leave when suddenly Kaden came to him. What does he want now?
"I hope you're not angry that I tricked you into coming here." He said as soon as he reached him.
"Why? You should've just told me you wanted to see me."
"Where would be the fun in that? This is much better. I thought by now you would've returned the Princess to me. She's mine after all."
"Really? Funny that's not what she said to me this morning. She was so adamant that she was mine."
"She is betrothed to the crowned prince of Mercy and as far as I'm concerned, that's not you. You will never be the crowned prince. You're just my father's bastard son and that's what you'll always be."
"And to think I was willing to convince the princess that she should go back to you. I must've been a fool. You will never change. The only person that matters to you is you, others? They might as well just go jump from a hill and die."
"You were willing to convince the princess that she should come back to me? Do you expect me to believe that?"
"I would like to think that as my brother you would take my word for it."
"Logan, in case you haven't noticed, you're not my brother. You may be my father's bastard but you will never be my brother. Never. Now bring back the princess to me before you sleep with her and she comes to marry me carrying a bastard just like you."
"You seem to have forgotten that I'm older than you Kade, you can disrespect me for as long as it pleases you but you should watch what you say about any child of mine. I may be a bastard like you say but know that this bastard can beat you and I will beat you up like a little child that you are. You are no match for me and you never will. You can be a crowned prince but you're not untouchable." He walked over to him.
"You're threatening me? A crowned prince?"
"No, of course not." He released a not so friendly chuckle. "I'm just telling my little brother that I absolutely have no problem beating him up. In case you didn't know, you can never even face me in a battle, one on one."
"Is that a challenge? You want to fight me?"
"Is that a problem? You don't think I can fight you?" Logan looked at him waiting to see his reaction.
"I'm just asking if you want us to fight? If so, Then what are we fighting over? The princess?"
"Exactly, we fight for her. You and me, one on one, a fight to the death."
"Challenge accepted. The fight will be the night before the wedding and bear in mind that I will fight you with everything in me." Kaden tried to act confident but he knew that Logan is a good fighter.
"You should go and start preparing for it though, you know I can beat with my eyes closed and don't think I'll spare you because you're my brother, there's no family in the war, everyone you're facing is your enemy and you, my dear brother, you'll be my enemy on that day." He left him standing there.
He wasn't thinking when he challenged him, all he knew was that he had had enough of his younger brother and that the fight was inevitable.
He convinced himself that he wasn't fighting for the princess and that he never will. Who would fight their own family for a girl? If there was anyone out there who could do it then that wasn't him.
The only thing that he had to fight was his reaction to the closeness of the princess, he didn't like it and if he had a choice to escape everything then he would but he had no choice whatsoever.
He decided to just head back home because he didn't have anything serious to do, still convincing himself that it was not because of the princess.
First of all, he didn't understand the attraction he felt towards her even though he tried to convince himself that it was his body having a mind of its own and secondly, he was trying to get the princess back to the palace.
He found the princess busy with something in the kitchen and he couldn't believe his eyes. Why would she be in the kitchen and not with Malia since she said she was taking them for shopping?
Did they finish early? From the day he's known his sister, Malia doesn't take just a few hours for shopping, instead, she takes the whole day. So why the princess be here?
"What are you doing here?" He couldn't help but ask.
"Oh, I'm sorry. Your mother is not around and I thought I should prepare lunch."
"Why would you prepare lunch? You could've just sat there and read books or whatever you princesses do. My mom would've prepared lunch when she came back."
"I'm not used to doing nothing all day. It's either I train or cook, I'm not just any princess Prince Logan, I'm different."
"I can see that. Still, you didn't have to cook."
"It's my duty as a wife to make sure you have something to eat when you come back from anywhere you've been during the day."
"We're not married Princess, forget about duties when you're here. If you truly want to fulfil those duties then I suggest you make your way to the palace and cook for Kaden. He's your future husband, after all, not me."
"It doesn't matter what you do and say to me Prince Logan, I'm your wife, future or not. You should at least say we're not married yet but make sure you don't forget the yet part every time you remind me that we're not married. From what I gather, Mercy is your world and I'm sure you'll do anything for her. Even marry the girl you believe to be your brother's because my father would burn this kingdom down if he ever heard that I won't be marrying you. You are my choice and to him, my choice is his choice. He always does what makes me happy and I'm warning you, Prince Logan Fairchild, don't think I won't want this kingdom burnt down if you ever succeded in making me Kaden's. Don't mistake my smile for weakness."
"You and Kaden suit each other. I can't believe the both of you actually threatened me today. Your husband wants to fight me for you and here you are, doing everything you can to actually threaten me into accepting you. You're so much alike."
"Kaden challenged you into a fight? And you agreed?"
"Don't worry about your husband, I won't kill him but I will beat him so much that he doesn't think of disrespecting me in the future. He's nothing compared to me."
"Your younger brother challenged you into a fight and all you can think of is that you're going to beat him?"
"Should I leave him for your sake? Princess, all you have to do is ask."
"Are you being serious right now? I don't care what happens to that fool who calls himself the crowned prince of Mercy, all I care about is my husband who is so kind he allowed his little and by little, I mean very little brother to challenge him into a fight. You should've beaten the hell out of him from the exact spot he was standing so that he would think twice before doing it again."
Logan just looked at her like she has grown a second head. She was making sense though, he thought. What's the difference between beating Kade from that spot and waiting for the night before the wedding?"
He was such a fool to not see that.
