Chapter Five “Okay, but she is the Luna. Should we speak with her still?” A hushed voice echoed down the corridor and into the bedroom, pulling me from my sleep. “I’m still Alpha, you come to me.” Ronan’s deep voice rumbled. “But your not marked?” Another voice said loudly. “Keep your voices down, The Luna sleeps!” Another one of Ronan’s growls echoed through the room. Stretching and rolling over, I giggled as he was the loudest one. “Give it a few days, let her settle in. I’m sure she will accept Ronan as Alpha, we all choose him for her, she will respect that.” I heard Kai’s softer voice carry into the room. “Choose him for me? What did that mean?” I thought to myself, making sure it was my own mind, not the mind link. Which I was slowly starting to get used too. “We will see.” The hushed voice said before a door closed. Ronan let out a sigh of frustration, no doubt. “You gotta talk to the Luna, everyone is already stressed.” Kai whispered. I got up out of bed. I’m not sure what they needed to talk to me about, but now that I had a good rest, I felt ready for anything! The room is a lot darker now, no doubt that I slept through most of the day. I stretched before making my way out of the room and over to where I assumed was the kitchen. “Luna.” Kai bowed his head in greeting. It was strange they didn’t call me by my first name like the other pack did. “He-Hello.” I shyly smiled back. Ronan grunted and glared at Kai. Who took the hint, laughed nervously and headed for the door. “I’ve brought back some food.” Ronan said as he moved out of the way of the table. Shocked, I took in what was there. He had filled the whole table with enough food to feed a family of 6! Most of the dishes seem to be similar to what I was used to eating in the other world but were off in colour or had something weird about them. I was eager to try a bit of everything but I knew I would over do it if I even attempted. “What do you like best?” I asked Ronan, hoping he could help with my choice of what to try first. “Food is food.” He said as he pulled out a chair for me. Taking a seat, he pushed me in. At least he somehow was a gentleman… maybe? Before I had a chance to start digging in, he was piling my plate high with everything. Way too much. “Eat, while I talk.” Not wanting to argue, I started taking small bites of something purple. It looked like a form of meat, with a blue sauce. I held the food in my mouth while I thought about the taste. The texture was very close to chicken, and the sauce lacked flavor. But it was good non-the-less. Ronan sat across from me, not touching the food. He looked a little nervous while he ran his hand through his hair, pushing the long shoulder-length strands from the edges of his face. “How was your nap,” he asked, staring at me very intently. “Go-good.” I stuttered under his intense gaze. After a few moments of eating in silence. He finally spoke “I need to explain something to you.” I nodded in response as I didn’t want to stutter again in front of him. Sighing, he began. “Your father was the Alpha of the pack, and your mother his Luna, when they both passed it turned the pack upside down, looking for its next leader. Which fell to your father, Beta, Theo.” He sighed. Leaning down on the table, eyes intently watching as I took this information in. “Theo did everything in his power to find out, but the power got to his head, he made enemy's, a lot of them.” Ronan continued. “One day he disappeared, we have no idea what happen to him but it was a very… inconvenient time.” I could tell Ronan was very uncomfortable with this story, something really bad must have happen. “As chosen Alpha by the pack, I have done everything I can, to achieve safety and support the needs before my own. I have given my life to this position and know I can do great things for us all.” Ronan got very heated and watched me for some time. The anger building. I knew I had to say something. I just didn’t know what he wanted from me. “I-I think thats gr-great,” I stumbled over my words, no longer wishing to eat. “Okay, then let's get started.” He huffed as he stood up from the table and walked over to the hallway holding the cloth door open for me. I instantly felt feverish. “Wa-wait. Get started?” I asked questioningly, looking at him from my position at the monstrous round table. Annoyance flickered in his eyes at my response. “Yes, let's go.” He said very impatiently. Maybe there was something he needed to show me to add to his story? I slowly got up from the chair and made my way towards him, feeling smaller with each step. He led me straight into the bedroom. I gulped as he slowly started undoing his robes. “Uh whoa - stop!” I said as I unwillingly covered my eyes before I could see his fully naked body. “I think there was a mis-misunderstanding.” I stuttered as my entire face felt like a volcano about to erupt. “You said you wanted to keep me as Alpha, didn’t you? You need to choose me, mark me.” He sounded more then annoyed. “M-Mark you? I don’t understand.” I quickly turned away from him as I felt his footsteps move foreword. “Yes MARK! You need to mate and mark me, so I can stay Alpha.” I jumped into the hall as the heat of his anger hit the back of my neck, he was too close. Ronan took this opportunity to side step me in the hall and leave to the front room. “What a foolish girl.” He snapped, slamming the door on his way out of the hut. Too stunned for words, I stood there looking down at my feet. I had to mark him so he could stay Alpha? That didn’t make sense to me. I understand my parents were Alpha and Luna before me, but why would it be up to me to choose him? Didn’t the pack already pick him for Alpha? Stuck in my thoughts, I didn’t even notice that someone else had entered the room until I was wrapped up in a blanket. Looking up a wave of red hair danced through the fabric leading to the kitchen. Curious, I went down the hall and peaked out into the kitchen where a girl, not much older than me, was cleaning up. “Hello Melody.” She barked towards me, not taking her eyes off clearing the table. “Oh.. Uh hello.” I said as I pulled the fur blanket tighter to my shoulders. “I’m Amelia, Ronan’s sister.” She smiled at me as she carried a few plates over to the counter. “Seems like Ronan left in a hurry?” she questioned, looking at me. “Uh, yes. I-I think I made him angry.” I laughed nervously. “Did you reject him? Do you have your eyes on another male?” She asked a little short with me. Shocked by this response, I shook my head. “No, not at all! I just…” I couldn’t put it into words how to explain how clueless I was to what we are. “I just, I grew up alone… No one explained to me fully-“ Complete shock over took Amelia, she rushed over to me before I could finish, her entire aura changed from being angry to sympathetic. “Oh sweets! You mean you don’t know anything about us? At all?” She asked. “Some of the friends I made in the other pack explained some stuff. But I don’t know what he means by mark? What is that?” I asked. Amelia burst out laughing, and explained, “Marking is choosing your mate, the other person you will be with forever. Since you're the only one alive from your blood line, your the packs Luna, the head mistress, herself. Your chosen mate will be the Alpha of the pack.” She explained while sitting me down on the couch. “The pack choose him for you, as he's the strongest and best fit for the position. But, of course, you can choose someone else but…” She sat next to me taking my hand in hers. “Ronan is really the only one that can take care of us. He's already done so much, he's been leading the pack for the past eleven years. He was practically still a pup when he took this role.” Her blue eyes filled with so much sadness as she spoke of him. “To mark him, you will need to mate him. You should bite them here while mating. It would leave a “mark” which would show he's yours, and visa vera.” I nodded, following along, as she showed me where to mark along her bare neck. It would be the same as in the fan books I read online before then. Sighing deeply, I turned to look at the fur rug on the floor. “What if I want him to be Alpha but I’m just not ready to… you know… mate?” I asked shyly. “Well… that is a problem.” She rested her head on her hand while holding her chin, thinking about a solution. “What would help you be ready to mate?” She asked, still deep in thought. “Um… Maybe if I knew him more?” I replied after some thought. “I agree that would be the best option. I know! I’ll set up uh, what do you humans over there call it? Humm?” she was deep in thought again. “A date?” I asked. “YES! That! I will set up an outing for you two!” Smiling, she jumped up from the couch. “Oh and I should tell you this, don’t give other men too much attention. They may think your giving them a chance to be Alpha, meaning Ronan will have to fight them in order to stay where he is until you both are marked.” I nod, thinking about how I had smiled at Kai and Ronan didn’t seem very pleased with it. “Stay in here for now, I will be right back!” She smiled sweetly at me as she headed for the door. “I won’t go anywhere.” I laughed as she left. Not like I knew where to go. “I probably would get lost if I did leave.” I thought to myself, giggling on the couch. “Stay.” Ronan’s deep voice echoed inside my head. I must have used the mind link without realizing it. “Sorry, I’m not leaving. Just getting used to… everything.” I softly spoke back, hoping for a reply that never came. Feeling disappointed, “I hope he's not too upset with me.” I whispered, hoping not to accidentally mind linking him again. Looking around the living space, there wasn’t much to do. No books, or TV. Not really many lights either. As the room grew darker and darker I had to rely on my wolf instincts to see. Pulling myself together, I walked back into the bedroom, where Ronan’s robes were still lying on the floor. Ignoring them, and that entire moment, I walked towards the window looking out at the small garden. “It should be fine if I went out there, right?” I asked myself, looking to see if the window opened. On the right of the window there was a small rope. Much like blinds in an apartment, pulling on this lifted the window up into the wall somewhere hidden. The coolness of the night's fresh air flooded into the room. Holding onto the rope, I franticly looked for something to tie it on, so I could leave it open and explore the garden. Running my hand over the marble-like wall, I found a surface that, when pushed another side flips out, with a hook! Perfect! Tying the rope around the hook, and making sure it was secured. I slowly started to take my own clothes off, and folded them neatly on the bed. Glancing one last time at the robes Ronan wore, I quickly picked them up and folded them next to mine. I let my wolf form come out before I walked into the garden. I couldn’t really stretch my legs out, but I figured it would be nice to explore with better senses. Nose to the ground, I smelled so many new things. With a flick of my tail I was off, running around the small garden, confined by stone walls on all sides. The moon was still shining brightly, and stars sparkled just like in the modern world, only there were so many more of them. A small stream ran along the garden’s edge. Stepping over it, I jumped up on some of the mossy rocks that overlooked the rest of the garden. I could see the room from here, and a few other windows that overlooked this space. Closing my eyes, I let my wolf senses take over, birds chirping in the distance, The pack settling down to a nights rest. Wind moved through the trees above the stone walls. The breeze barely made its way down to ruffle up my fur. Ronan’s scent spilled into the garden, attacking me from all sides. Opening my eyes, I watched as he came from the bedroom sniffing the ground, in his wolf. He was completely black besides a splash of white on his chest and muzzle. His eyes a bright blue. It didn’t take long till he found me. I watched as he froze for a brief second as our eyes made contact. He took in my chocolate brown wolf form, from below. My wolf was just as small as I was as a human, while his was massive. The size of a horse, no doubt, I would be a little more than half his size. Still bigger than most but nowhere near him. He made quick work of the garden, making his way over to where I laid. His muscles rippled with each movement, as I watched him. Towering over me, I stood to greet him. I wasn’t sure what he was going to do, but I decided I should apologize first, at least for the misunderstanding. Hesitating, with my head down, being submissive, I looked up at him. “I’m sorry for misunderstanding.” I whispered through our mind-link, while taking a step foreword, nuzzling his chest with my muzzle. I wasn’t sure if this was correct but it felt right. “I’m just not ready to… Mate. But I still choose you. Please wait?” I asked. I felt him start grooming the top of my head and licking my ears. “I’ll wait,” His voice rang in my mind, as he continued to lick my ears. Being in our wolf form made things easier, it felt like. I was happy we could come to an agreement. I knew I couldn’t keep him waiting for long, but at least I could get used to being here and what my role would be. I was looking forward to getting to know Ronan more, and his sister.
