Chapter eleven: Third Person POV

1861 Words
Chike thought that he had Aziza by the throat. That he was going to kill her right on the spot with his army, and that she wouldn’t stand up a chance. His false assumptions were, of course, wrong. He had no idea what he was dealing with. He gave the order to attack her, but she already knew what to do. She was not going to harm them, she was going to redirect their attacks, until they realized that they couldn’t hurt her. She knew that they might capture her, but she was going to go down fighting. So, she created a shield with her magic, making her be surrounded by a red aura. Many of the warriors admired her for an instant. It was a brief moment where they actually realized that she didn’t look like a demon, but more like a goddess. If they had stopped and thought for a moment, they would have realized that she wasn’t the person that Chike painted her to be. The fight had to happen, and as Yamoja said to her, since her birth her destiny had already been decided. She had to endure several challenges that would make her someone stronger. The warriors reached her, but the aura that surrounded her didn’t let their spears and knifes pierce her skin. It was as if a concrete wall was blocking their attacks. Aziza didn’t want to fight back, she didn’t want to harm anyone innocent, she only had one objective. The only person that wasn’t innocent there, Chike. And so she walked towards him, while the soldiers couldn’t do anything to stop her. Chike, on the other hand, tried to look like a brave prince, but in reality he was shaking on the inside. He could feel his sister’s power in the air, and it was overwhelming him. He tried to pierce her skin, but her barrier was far stronger. It was futile to try to harm her, but it was his only choice. He knew that she wanted him dead, and for good reasons. He had changed too much to please his father, and now he was rotten on the inside as well. Now that the demon was silent, Aziza knew that she could kill without guilt. She wouldn’t doubt if she had done it out of influence or because she actually wanted to. Furthermore, his death meant that he could not harm someone anymore. It would finally be over. “Kill me, and you’ll prove them right. You’ll show all of them that you are a monster.” Aziza was about to kill him, but his words cut deep into her mind. It was true, if she killed him they would see her as the enemy, as a demon. But if she didn’t, he would continue to pester her until she was dead. She had to make a decision, and it had to be quick, because the warriors were coming at her again. Unfortunately, they didn’t know Chike’s lies, and there was no way they would believe what she told them. And then she had an idea. Something that would finally reveal Chike’s true face, while giving her the opportunity to prove them that she wasn’t evil. It would take time, but it was for the best. If she got rid of Chike now, the word about her would spread all over the villages, and she would have to be constantly on the run. Chike thought that he had won, that she would give up, and he would get what he wanted. As always, he underestimated Aziza’s intelligence. “I will surrender.” She shouted, and everyone around her looked surprised. “You won’t trick us, you demon!” One of the warriors shouted at her. Men, they simply couldn’t connect one neuron with the other. She wanted to facepalm, because their stupidity was driving her insane. “I’m not tricking you, I’ll surrender, but I want you to take me hostage. If your chief can assure my safety, I’ll go with you.” They looked weary of her, as they should. She was telling them that she was not going to attack them, but it could be a trick, so they would lower their defenses, giving her the perfect opportunity to attack. “And what is going to assure us that you won’t attack us?” The most beautiful voice that Aziza could hear came from the back. It was a manly, strong and husky voice, and it was making her heart beat faster. She was in a dichotomy, she didn’t want to give a face to that voice, but at the same time she was curious to get to know the person that had just spoken. “You can use cuffs with a sign that I will show you. That is going to stop my magic.” What she was telling them was risky, because it wasn’t entirely true. It would tamper with her magic, but not entirely. She couldn’t risk being completely defenseless. “We both know that won’t stop you!” Chike was the one to intervene this time, but Aziza knew he was going to use that card. “You left me with the same cuffs for a week. Of course, they didn’t work.” Another gasp was heard, meaning that he had lied about that as well. “Why were you in cuffs?” This time the manly voice asked, and she could see that the warriors were moving aside; he was coming to her. Chike was becoming agitated, he didn’t think that Aziza would speak and reveal all his lies, he thought she would just fight them and die in battle. “You can trust a word she says!” Some of the warriors agreed with Chike, but the majority doubted his words. It was one lie after the other, and it seemed that their brains were finally working right now. “Chike, you may have fooled my uncle and my cousin, but they sent me here for a reason,” finally the man appeared, making Aziza’s heart skip a beat. He was incredibly handsome, with his strong square jaw that was now tightened because he was mad. His body proved the hours that he passed training, with his toned muscles and six-pack for everyone to see. He had the most beautiful face, with juicy lips that were calling Aziza. She averted her gaze to calm her heart down. He was making her hormones fly all over the place, and she didn’t like that sensation very much, especially because of Yamoja’s warning. Also, she didn’t want him to catch her staring, that would be embarrassing, and she had to look like a strong woman, not a freaking teenager. “I explained what she did to my village, we went there, and you saw how they all died! Women, men, children and even babies! They were all killed by this monster!” Aziza felt nauseous, because even if she didn’t mean it, she had assassinated them. Aziza’s POV “And she doesn’t seem to be denying that fact. You, on the other hand, have lied again and again. You came to us claiming that she had gone to your village to kill all your people,” everyone whispered in agreement, so that was what he told them, so they would help him kill me. “Then you even claimed that she went to Yamoja to kill her, but she doesn’t have a single drop of blood on her and if you look over there,” he said while he pointed at the oasis that could be faintly seen. “Her place is still intact. We all know that if something happens to her, the first thing to go down is her sanctuary.” Again, everyone agreed with the man. Chike knew that he was losing the battle, but that was what he got for lying to them. I don’t think he ever thought his plans through, he just expected everything to go according to what was more convenient for him. He didn’t realize that people were more complex than that, and if you lied to your allies, then you compromised your relationship with them. “You know I’m the best strategist in my family, Chike. I’m a chief as well, and even though I’m young I have achieved more than other chiefs that are older than me. So I’m going to ask one more time; what happened with this woman?” He directed his question at Chike. He gaped, but didn’t say a word. He must be thinking of a way to get out of this situation. I didn’t want to intervene unless I was spoken to. I lowered my aura to avoid waisting my energy. This meant that my barrier wasn’t as effective as before, but it still prevented fatal attacks towards me. Chike looked at me and realized that I wasn’t shining anymore. That was a mistake on my part, because I knew what kind of rat he was. He was waiting for that, for me to lift my defenses, so he could attack. That was all he had in his mind, my elimination. Chike didn’t look at the man, he looked directly at me. He took his spear and threw it. I have to admit, he had great aim, but because of the barrier, his spear moved a little bit to the left. If I didn’t have it, I would be dead now, but thankfully, the spear just pierced above my clavicle. It hurt, I won’t deny it, but as I looked at the weapon I couldn’t stop thinking that if I didn’t have magic I would be dead right now. After Chike did that, the man ordered his warriors to apprehend him. He was now an enemy of their village. I was dumbfounded looking at all the events that were unraveling in front of me. Chike was taken, but all the way he continued cursing me while he told everyone that they would regret this decision. That was until the man got tired of his rant and told his men to shut him down. A punch in the gut and one to his jaw was all it took to bring Chike down. I couldn’t help the chuckle that escaped my lips. Seeing him get hurt was funny to me, especially because he thought I was the one that was going to lose in this encounter. After he finally shut up, I sighed in relief. My plan worked. At least part of it, now I had to see what his gorgeous man wanted from me. That scared me, to be honest. With Chike I could think clearly, but with this man my heart works overtime, and my brain seems to stop functioning. He didn’t look at me, he was still staring at his men while they took Chike, but then he directed his eyes straight at me, and when they did, I could feel how my temperature increased. “My name is Obwe, and I’ve been waiting for you, Aziza,” He said, with a huge smile on his face. Wait… what?
