The Meaning of Us

Amaia is walking to the train station on her way to work. She deeply inhaled the sweet smell of the autumn wind. The view of the falling autumn leaves made her breathless, and she had this urge to take picture of that beautiful scene... She quickly grabbed her Nikon D90 Camera and took numerous shots of the autumn trees. The leaves are bursting with red and gold colors, and it looks so breathtaking! She smiled, as she looked at all the photos she took. But her smile suddenly disappeared from her lips once glanced at her wristwatch... "I'm going to be late!" Amaia exclaimed in shock. She quickly ran towards the the train station. She ran as if she's in a marathon, until she reached the platform... Lady Luck must've smiled at her because the train arrived as soon as she reached the platform. She went inside the train, while catching her breath. The train doors were about to close when a man ran inside. Luckily, the stranger was able to get inside the train, unscathed. The passengers inside the train are giving him looks. Some of them were obviously upset, and there are few of them who looks worried because the man did a dangerous thing... The guy looks apologetic, and he sincerely apologized to the people inside the train. The seats are already full, so he didn't have a choice but to stand up. Amaia can't really explain why, but she couldn't take her eyes off this stranger. He decided to secretly survey the man. He's wearing sunglasses, and a baseball cap. He's also wearing a very simple white shirt and faded blue jeans. But it was obvious that he's wearing expensive brands of clothes and shoes... She stopped surveying the man when he heard him clearing his throat. She caught him looking and frowning at her. He had this disgusting look on his face. Amaia feels so embarrassed, and she instantly averted her eyes away from him. Then, without any warning, the train suddenly stopped, and Amaia was almost thrown unto the floor because of the strong force, but fortunately, she fell straight into the strangers arms. She accidently buried her face into his chest, and in that brief moment, she's able to smell his minty, fresh scent... She suddenly blushed when she noticed that she had been in that position for quite some time. The man might think that she is taking advantage of the situation. She quickly pulled herself away from him. "I'm sorry, but thank you for helping me." she said, in a shy manner. The guy just gave him a clipped nod, but he did not say anything. Afterwards, they heard one train staff from the speakers, apologizing for the trouble and inconvenience. Then, the train stating moving again, until it stopped at one station. It was Amaia's stop, because it was close to her office. She alighted from the train, and she instantly saw the guy passing by her, and he looks like he's in a real hurry. After a few minutes, Amaia saw the stranger standing infront of the train station, while looking antsy. It seems like he's waiting for someone... At the same time, an expensive-looking car suddenly stopped infront of him. The guy quickly went inside the car, and the vehicle quickly drove off. "Wow, he could be the son of a billionaire!" Amaia whistled under her breath. Anyway, she doesn't have any time to think more about that time. She's going to be late, and she needs to run... NOW! ========================= At the "IT Magazine" Office... "Morning, everyone!" Amaia happily greeted her co-workers as she was walking to her own working desk. Amaia is working as a paparazzi at the infamous "IT Magazine." Their magazine specializes in revealing the celebrities, and the rich and the famous’ dirty little dark secrets... Their magazine recently released an article about a female idol who had a pure and innocent image, but behind the camera lights, she's a devil in disguise. She had a serious attitude problem, and she fights with her Manager, Hairstylist and Personal Assistant. She did an undercover mission wherein she carried a spy camera and she went to that female idol's private birthday party... The idol threw her mobile phone right into her Personal Assistant and it hit her head. It was all caught on her spy camera, and their magazine was the very first one who released the never-before-seen photos. And that article has been selling like hotcakes up until now... "Amaia!" Amaia froze from her seat when she heard that familiar voice. It was none other than the IT Magazine's Editor-in-Chief, Lisa White... She stood up from her seat, and she immediately saw her Boss through the glass window of her small office. Miss Lisa had this serious look on her face, and it means that she's in trouble. But she doesn't have a choice but to face the lioness. Feeling scared, she finally made her way to her Boss' office... Once she wans inside Boss Lisa's office, the lioness started to interrogate her rightaway. "Why are you late? And what's your reason for being late this time?" she bombarded her with questions. Amaia was about to speak, but Boss Lisa stopped her. "Nevermind. I don't want to waste my time listening to your excuses... I have one important thing to discuss to you." she suddenly said. "What is it, Boss?" Amaia curiously asked. "Amaia, have you given it a thought about becoming a writer for IT Magazine?" Boss Lisa asked her the million-dollar question. Amaia couldn't help but to feel surprised her Boss' question. She's been working as a paparazzi for more than two years, but she's been really interested in writing an article. "Why do you ask, Boss?" Boss Lisa leaned on her swivel chair, while looking serious. “Well, I’m thinking of giving you a chance to prove yourself. And I think this is the perfect time to show us what you've got. So, tell me--- do you want to take this opportunity or not?"
