CHP 8: CHOOSING A WEAPON

Sejaru was staring at Alex with his mouth wide open.
When he noticed that a fly was about to peck on his lips, that was when he closed his mouth.
"What's wrong, master?" Alex asked curiously.
"It's nothing, it's just that I'm amazed. A new magico like you can't possibly harness mana within a few minutes, I guess your talent is incomparable.
But don't let a dark mage get to know about your talents and don't show off your familiars in the public. Or else a dark mage won't hesitate to use you as an experiment" Sejaru said.
"D...dark mage will use me as an experiment huh?" Alex asked nervously.
"Although there isn't a lot of dark mages in Balvaria kingdom, nonetheless other kingdoms have a lot of them that are very cruel and heartless," Sejaru replied.
"Ok master I will be very Careful"
Then a slim boy that was slightly shorter than Alex, was seen coming towards the garden.
He is 165 cm tall, has pure white hair, and a small scar that runs down from his left eye to his right cheek.
"Damon, did you get the Azure water?" Sejaru asked him.
"I am sorry father, I failed the mission. Those goblins have a magico with an earth element among them and he is quite aggressive, so I had to run for my life." Damon replied.
Damon was Sejaru's third and last born. He also awakened two elements like Alex, but he was unable to summon a familiar as he passed out early during his awakening process.
Sejaru stroked his beard while pondering over what Damon told him.
"I am supposed to punish you for not completing your mission, but I will overlook it for today. And This is Alex, my new disciple, he also has two elements like you and two familiars unlike you.
So tomorrow two of you will clear that dungeon and fetch me the Azure water, I will supervise you in case things get out of hand." Sejaru replied.
Alex's face paled as he never knew that his new master was strict.
"Yes, father" Damon bowed lightly and he was slightly jealous of Alex for having two familiars.
"Manov is cruel," Damon thought inwardly as he left his father alongside Alex.
While the two boys were walking, Alex was thinking of a way to strike a conversation with the weird-looking Damon, as he never had many friends in the past.
His mother Dorcas, hired a home teacher for him and his sister as she didn't want them to interact with other kids.
"Damon can you teach me some combat skills, I am inexperienced," Alex said
"Ok, that won't be a problem, I would be glad to teach you, but my father will even teach you better.
However, you have to pick a weapon of your choice. Or the one that suits your elements.
Like me, I have Fire & ice elements, so I chose a sword. I could use my ice as projectiles and coat my sword with fire to make it more deadly.
But instead of me having a familiar, I have a passive skill. Although it fills in the gap of a familiar, it isn't worth it." Damon said.
"What is a passive skill?'' Alex asked.
" Well, that's a secret" Damon replied.
When they arrived at a doorway, Damon brought out a large key from his spatial ring and inserted it into the keyhole.
*Rumble* *Rumble*
The door rumbled and it was opened.
Alex's eyes lit up when he saw different types of shiny weapons.
"Some of these weapons are made by my father while others were his collections or reward when he was still a war mage," Damon said.
Alex nodded his head and entered the trophy-looking room.
He began to inspect the weapons, but there was nothing that piqued his interest.
Halberds, slings, swords, whips, spears, Bows, and staff, were there but they didn't pique Alex's interest.
"If you don't choose one of these weapons, then what do you want to use and fight?. A stick? Or bamboo?" Damon said mockingly.
"I don't just know man, I feel like these weapons are rejecting me, sigh..." Alex sighed.
As he was about to leave the room, his eyes suddenly caught a glimpse of something. And he went back.
He saw a long chain about 3 inches thick, with the end of it made like a spear. He carried it and realized that it wasn't really heavy.
[Master pick this weapon, it is made from orichalcum, one of the strongest metals. And this chain suits your thunder element.] Ivor said.
Alex acknowledged Ivor's advice and he picked up the 1.5 meters long chain.
"You are truly an odd one, I never expected you to pick this thrash, out of all the good weapons, in there " Damon chuckled.
But Alex didn't mind his ramblings.
"Hmm, what an odd choice of weapon, actually that weapon was wielded by a legendary warrior of Balvaria kingdom," Sejaru said and he sighed.
Alex was surprised to see Sejaru appear out of nowhere like he has been stalking them.
"Thank you for the weapon master"
"No problem, kiddo," Sejaru replied through a metal connection.
Alex was surprised to see that Sejaru could speak with him without moving his lips.
Damon escorted Alex to the living room and assisted him with the heavy books, and as he was about to leave, Alex saw Rose and Marie.
"Little brother have you gotten, that we said we would play with you".
The girls giggled.
Alex gulped, as his little brother was reacting to the girl's presence.
[Hehe, master has seen some free holes, fufufu] Ivor grinned inwardly.
