Chapter 10
The next day, Valentine sauntered into the stables and wandered around, admiring Hades horses. This was the day he was due back at his own castle, and he wasn’t surprised to see Batair in his coachman uniform appear from the back of the stables.
“Care for a coach ride, sir?” Batair called out as he strode toward Valentine who nodded.
“Yes. Thank you.”
Less than a minute later, the coach was rattling along the bridge over the chasm that helped form part of the castle’s many defenses. A pang of regret surprised Valentine. He’d hardly expected to be sorry to leave the castle. Is it the castle, or is it Cole?
The coach stopped in the woods, hidden from view, and Valentine got out. He looked up at the coachman and offered him a smile.
“Thank you. It was a pleasure to meet you.”
