For the next couple of days, Valentine wandered aimlessly around the castle. No one paid him any attention, although he often saw the servant who’d shown him to his room. When he did, the man took time to make sure Valentine didn’t need anything.
Stretched out on the shelf in the library, Valentine drifted between worlds, until the sound of a detested voice jerked him back. Valentine froze in place. Mandrake!
