~ JAMIE ~
.
"Why do you look like that?" Maria sounded like my mother. And that just pissed me off even more.
"Nothing," I grumbled as I threw my backpack on the couch - my new fluffy green couch - and then plopped down on it. "I am just tired and in need of some strawberry lemonade."
Of course, Maria did not believe me. She never did. Instead, she looked over at Felix quizically. Yeah yeah, he knew what was going on in my mind more than I did, didn't he?
"She was fine till we sat down for class. And then all of a sudden, her mood just sored." Felix explained.
That's not exactly what happened, but okay, we will work with that.
"See." Maria had her 'I told you so' look on her face. "I told you that you will be bored by all of this in no time. You didn't even last a day."
"Honey, I will choose hellfire over having to listen to you nag all day." I stuck my tongue at her. And this woman, as always, was unfazed. She was standing there with her hands on her hips.
"Will her royal highness please tell me what got you so riled up?" She asked.
"Your nagging." I shrugged.
"No offense bro, but you do nag her a lot." Ody said.
I turned to him and beamed. "This is why you are my favorite." I said and patted the spot on the couch next to me. "Come sit here."
"I have work, Jamie. I will come some other time." He nodded at Felix who looked over at Maria. Their eyes glazing over told me that they had switched to mind-link and was probably talking s**t about me. But I didn't care. As of now, these three did not pose any threat to me.
But I wondered if I should do anything about the girl who actually seemed like she wanted me on a stake.
Should I contact Rowan?
Rowan? Really? Are you out of your mind? Why would you even think that? Come on Jamie, you were raised better than that! You do not need to rely on any man in this world! You can deal with anything yourself.
Yeah right, that's why my entire life depends on two men. Of course both of them were huge parts of my life and had some kind of responsibility bestowed by the Moon Goddess to make sure that I was well, but seriously? Did I really want to rely on them for this?
I think we all know the answer to that.
"How long should I wait for my strawberry lemonade?" I asked, tapping my heel on the plywood floor. "Or should I be making it myself seeing that you two don't have any time to spare after bad mouthing me through the mind link?"
Maria snapped out of it and rolled her eyes at me. Is it me or is it that this was the first time she was rolling her eyes at me today? Wow, this must be some sort of new record!
"I will get you your lemonade. Go take a bath and change." She said. "We need to fix your mood before you decide nothing less than a human sacrifice will be enough to fix it."
Felix blinked, confused.
"It's a joke." I rolled my eyes and hopped off my couch. I was walking past him when the devil on my shoulder cackled and gave me an idea.
"See you later, babe." I said , smacking his toned Greek-godly butt.
I had to bite my cheeks to stop myself from bursting out laughing at the bewildered look on both Maria and Felix's face. The poor boy's face was turned the brightest shade of pink that I wanted to ask Maria to substitute the strawberries in my lemonade with his cheeks.
I scooted from the scene as soon as I could, before Maria regained her composure and threw questions my way.
"Felix, did you forget to tell me something?" My wolf hearing picked up Maria's words when I was halfway to my room. I wanted to stop there but I knew their wolf hearing would pick it up but I tried to stall as much as I could by stopping there and taking my phone out.
Maria knows how distracted I get with gadgets. Sometimes I even forget to breathe. If they come to investigate, she will take this for one of those moments.
"The Luna declared me her boyfriend in front of the whole class." He admitted and I could hear the embarassment dripping down each of the words.
Aww... I thought our Ody was cute. But it seems that our Felix baby is just as cute.
"What? The Alpha is going to be furious when he hears of this. Hell, he is going to be beyond furious when he hears of everything that has been going on behind his back. The possibility of us retaining our lives is becoming thinner and thinner by the day."
Please. Rowan was one heck of a softie. There was no way in hell he was going to hurt them for what I made them to do. And it was not like he could do anything to me as soon as he had not gotten an heir to continue to the Alpha blood line of his family.
I was safe and so was the rest of them.
I proceeded to my room, pushing the door open. Well, Maria really does know how to cheer me up. It was complete darkness inside. Complete darkness. Utter blackness.
I navigated to the home control app in my phone and switched the lights on. It was still dimly lit and it was perfect. This was exactly what I wanted from my room.
It reminded me of where I lived four years ago. It reminded me of a time when I had no fear or worry.
To be fair, it was a time of which I did not have much memory of anymore.
"Maria!" I yelled before closing the door. I walked over to my bed and sat down, straining my ears for any sound but none came but soon the door was flung open and Maria appeared with her usual 'I am so done with you' look on her face.
"Why yell if you are not going to respond when I yell back?" She asked.
"My lemonade?" I feigned innocence as I tilted my head to the side, a lazy smile appearing on my face.
"You will have it in no time as long as you don't disrupt me." She walked out just like that.
I smiled.
I was just checking if the wolf hearing proofed doors and walls were perfect enough. And they seemed to be doing a damn well job. Kudos to everybody who was involved in this.
Maria walked in again, now with a glass and a pot full of lemonade.
"On second thought, I will have it after I take a nap and then a shower."
She stared at me for a good seven seconds before sighed and turned on her heels, leaving without a word.
She was used to be by now and even she was not, it was not going to change anything. This was just how I was and I did not plan to change it for the world.
Besides, my reason for making her leave and then leave me alone for at least a few hours was completely different.
I looked over at the door and narrowed my eyes.
The click of the lock told me it had been secured.
I looked around.
It was the perfect place. It was spacious and filled with only the best of the fluffiest furniture out there.
I held my hands out and gestured in the upward direction. All the furniture in the room and levitated on to the air and went and stuck themselves to the ceiling, leaving me with all the space in the world for me to run around in.
"Enjoy yourself precious." I smiled to myself before I unleashed my wolf.

~ MARIA ~
.
"I can't believe that she is as bad as the rumors say!" Ody exclaimed as he placed the plate of sandwiches on the table. "I agree that she is a spoiled brat but she really seems completely harmless except that."
"I don't think they should be called rumors." Felix to a sip of the lemonade that Maria had brought over. She knew Jamie too well. She was not going to drink something that was not quickly squeezed. "She admitted to all of it herself, didn't she?"
"I don't understand Jamie at all." Maria sighed. "But I do know that she is a good person. I just wish someone would find out why she did all that she did. There is no way in hell she would randomly kill people for fun like she has claimed to have done."
"You think there is something more to the Plague?" Ody asked. "I mean, it does make sense. She does not seem like the person to actually enjoy killing for fun. She does like to annoy and torture people with work. But she really is not the kind to hurt someone."
"I have never seen her lose her cool or attack someone ever since I started housekeeping for her." Maria was ready to give it her whole.
After all, she saw this as a chance to get Felix and Ody onboard for the plan that she had in mind. With Rowan gone, she could do some snooping around and find some clues to Jamie's past - a past she spoke nothing of and a past no one knew nothing about.
It could save Jamie. It could save Jamie and Rowan's relationship.
Maria was the sort of person who looked for good where he did not exist but she had this strong belief that the evilness and cruelty of Jamie did not actually exist and people just believed it to be there. It was a wild idea right now but she was ready to give it a try and find out about the past linked to every death that occurred in the two years before Jamie and Rowan had met.
"But what if Jamie gets to know?" Ody asked.
"Is that even a question?" Felix laughed. "We would be dead meat. What else?"
