Chapter 4

Amanda POV

“Amanda, you’re finally here!” My best friend squeak as she saw me.

“Kylie, ohh I missed you so much.” I excitedly exclaimed and gave her a bear hug.

Others are looking at us, as we can’t hide our excitement to see each other again for a long time. Most of them are awe to see us acting like a kid, laughing out loud and jumping.

“Hi Amanda, nice to see you again and thanks for coming. We know how busy you are, but still you managed to come here for our daughter’s christening.” Fritz said as he offered his hand for a shake.

“Don’t mention it, I won’t miss this special event for my best friend and of course for my God child.” I courtly replied.

“So you guys should be present too for our first child baptism, okay?” Luke said out of nowhere and place his arm around me.

“Ohh, really man? You two are officially dating now?” Fritz so astound hearing what his friend said.

“Wait! No, we’re not dating. He’s just joking.” I said and tried to remove Luke’s arm.

“Why the need to deny it Sugar? It’s not like they didn’t know what’s going on between us.” Luke said in a more serious tone.

“Can you please stop pretending in front of them?” I said irritably.

“Okay, no need to fight. Come now and see your assigned rooms.” Kylie said as she usher us inside their hotel like house.

“How can you guys manage this kind of huge house if you’re just three in the family?” I curiously asked.

“We only come here during events like this or if we want to have a vacation or guys wants to meet and have a bonding. Luke has his own hotel in the nearby island.” She said.

“Really? I didn’t know about that but he did mentioned it before our flight.” I said.

“Actually, he requested you to stay there but I told him that I wanted to spend time with you too since we didn’t see each other for quite a long time, so we agreed that you will both use one of the penthouse here. But don’t worry, you will have your separate rooms there.” She explained nervously as we ride the elevator.

“What? We’re going to share penthouse?” I asked unbelievably.

“Calm down Amanda. You know he’s Fritz’s best friend too and I can’t allow him to not be present in this occasion too. I’m sorry sissy.” She said apologizing.

“This is all wrong and you know that.” I hissed. “I’ll be staying with him for one week? Ohh, so help me God.”

“Hey, relax! Don’t tell me you’re still hooked by his charm.” Kylie teasingly said.

“You know what happened between us, the reason why I’m trying to avoid him.” Suddenly I recall the past that I didn’t want to remember anymore.

“You don’t want him to be a part of your life and yet you get hurt when he meet someone who’s willing to stay with him. Why don’t you give it a try Amanda? Give him a chance, Fritz said he’s different with you. Maybe he’s really serious when it comes to you.” My friend convincing me to believe.

“He just want me in his bed, that’s all Kylie. I don’t want to expect much from him too. We know him, he’s a womanizer.” I retort.

“What else do you want him to prove? And even if he do all the efforts you still distance yourself from him. When will you see that he really wants you or even love you?” She insist.

“Let’s change topic sis. Whatever Luke and I shared in the past, it’s already buried deep and we should just forget it.” I said to end our conversation.

Night came and all guests were asked to have dinner at the shore. I’m about to go out when I spotted Luke laying in the couch. I hear him murmuring something, seems he’s having a dream.

“Hey!” I said checking if he’s having a bad dream or something.

“Luke, are you alright?” I asked once he didn’t response.

I’m about to leave him when I saw his face so red. I touch his forehead and confirm what I’m suspected. He’s having a fever and it’s so high that’s why his face is red.

“Hey Luke, let me help you to get into your room.” I said when he finally open his eyes.

“It’s okay, I’ll stay here for a while. Go and have your dinner now.” He said with a faint smile.

I go to washroom to get some towel and basin with water. He needs to lower his temperature, that’s the first thing that came into my mind. When all things are set in his room, I get back to where he is and help him to stand.

“I told you, I’m okay no need to do this sugar.” He said as I help him walk inside his room.

“We need to lower your body temperature and you need to take medicine.” I said ignoring his words.

As we reached his room, I help him lay down in his bed and undo the buttons of his shirt. I start wiping his face with the wet towel and give him sponge bath. I suddenly hear my phone ringing and its Kylie’s name flashing on its screen.

“Hello?” I answer.

“Sis, where are you and Luke? Have you seen him? We’re looking for both of you here. C’mon it’s already dinner time.” She said.

“Kylie, can we just have our dinner here in our room? Luke is having a high fever and I can’t leave him here alone. And if you can also bring some medicine for him too.” I said with a hint of worry.

“Ohh, is he okay? Does he need doctor top check him?” She asked.

“I’ll take care of him, maybe he’s just too tired that’s why he suddenly got a fever.” I assured her.

“Okay, just let us know if he’ll need some assistance. I’ll ask the maids to bring there your foods and what you all be needing.” She said and hang up.

As I get back to his room, I saw him already sleeping soundly. His redness is lessen and looks like his fever lowered. I’m about to cover him with a blanket when he suddenly yank me and hug me like a pillow. I tried to remove his hands but he just tighten his hug.

“Luke, I am not a pillow.” I whisper.

He didn’t move nor response to me, must be in his deep sleep. Our faces are inches apart and his even breathing fanning on my face. I stared on his face, his angelic and handsome face. The face that I wouldn’t want to erase in my mind.

My hand begin to trace his masculine body, the body that made me lose my mind. Little by little as if I’m being hypnotized, I felt my lips touching his lips. Enjoying the moment that I’m once again in the arms of the man I’m keeping in the special place of my heart.

Suddenly, a knock from the door makes me realized that I’m being aggressive towards what I feel. As if I’m being burned by his lips I immediately pull myself and tries to get up from bed, when I hear him said; “Who the hell is that? Who stops you rom kissing me?”

Heat rise to my face and I pray on that very moment to evaporate.
