서른 한 번째 왕관 (31)       [NEWS] The Royal House of Yi confirms Crown Prince Yi Eul is engaged and is set to get married   It has now been confirmed that the current Crown Prince of South Korea, Crown Prince Yi Eul is engaged and is set to get married this month!   The news outlet News N published the report at midnight KST stating that according to their investigation, they exclusively reporting that Crown Prince Yi Eul is engaged and is set to get married next month.   On the same day, Prince Yi Eul and his fiancée named Kim Jae Kyung, the former journalist of The Seoul Times went to Queen Jang Eun’s house. Speculations spread that Prince Yi Eul and his fiancée visited the Queen to ask for her blessing for the couple which the queen happily gave her blessings to the couple. “Just like that, huh?” The makeup artists and staff flinched on their spots when Da Hyun suddenly threw her phone to the ground. Even her co-members were shocked by what she did. Trying to suppress her emotions, she formed her hands into fists, squeezed her eyes shut, and breathe deeply. “What’s wrong?” “Da-Da Hyun-eonnie, gwaenchanha?” one of her members, So Mi asked. She was about to touch the former but the former just glared at her. “Shut up.” “Da Hyun-eonnie…” “What the hell is going on, Da Hyun?” Da Hyun turned her head towards their manager who’s now looking at them with a frown and confusion written on her face. Da Hyun looked at her with a blank expression. It took a split second for Da Hyun to change her expression as she smiled cutely at their manager. “I just don’t like my phone anymore, manageo-nim~”     “Why the heck there are so many reporters outside our apartment?!” Jae Kyung is so frustrated as soon as she arrived at the Crown Prince’s mansion. They didn’t go to the Royal House of Yi since Jae Kyung asked for a break because of what happened earlier outside their apartment that morning. “They’re really invading my privacy for Pete’s sake and they almost harassed my best friend!” “That’s why I told you to let my bodyguards guard you outside your apartment,” Prince Yi Eul responded, equally frustrated on how Jae Kyung looked like a homeless brat wearing a white New Balance hoodie, a pair of old faded jeans, and white sneakers. And she even looked like she just woke up or something. “I told you, it’s annoying,” Jae Kyung said as she crossed her arms over her chest. “I don’t want to make some ruckus outside my apartment because of your bodyguards guarding outside. That’s just weird.” Prince Yi Eul massaged his temple and looked at Jae Kyung. “Just live here or live in one of my houses. I’ll hire some bodyguards for you as well.” “I told you, I won’t accept your offer.” “And what? Do you really expect that there will be no ruckus when the whole of South Korea knows that you’re my fiancée? My god, Jae Kyung,” Prince Yi Eul said in frustration. “We only have two weeks left before the wedding so stop offering me that.” “Well, you really have to bear the ruckus because of paparazzi and reporters outside your apartment for two weeks since you’re really such a hard-head.” “Haaah~” Jae Kyung couldn’t help but whine as she slumped on the couch. Good thing they’re the only ones since the Crown Prince’s study room so she could just do what she wants. “Stop being such a brat and sit properly, Princess,” Prince Yi Eul said. Jae Kyung knew that even if his voice is serious, he’s actually teasing her. Welp, she’s been working for him for a while now so she knows what’s in his mind most of the time. “Cut it out, Your Highness,” Jae Kyung said and continued to whine because of frustration. “Man, I can’t do this anymore! Can I just back out?” “Unfortunately, you can’t because number one,” Prince Yi Eul showed his index finger. “You already signed the contract AND let me remind you that you’re the one who actually made the contract and the second one, if you’ll going to quit, well, you’ll not going to have the chance to debut a book.” “Ugh. Yeah right, thanks for reminding, Your Highness. How thoughtful of you,” Jae Kyung made a face. Prince Yi Eul just grinned at her, almost gave Jae Kyung the urge to punch his face. “You’re welcome.” Jae Kyung just rolled her eyes and leaned her back lazily on the couch. She just felt so tired from running away from the reports. “Ah, I almost forgot. The queen actually insisted to visit your parents to, you know, give presents and talk about the wedding as well and she also wants to meet them so I hope you’ll gonna prepare this Wednesday,” Prince Yi Eul said as he kept on typing something on his laptop. Thinking that Jae Kyung fell asleep because of the silence spreading between them right now, Prince Yi Eul just sighed and kept on typing something on his laptop. “This bum.” “I don’t have parents anymore,” that made Prince Yi Eul stopped mid-air and turned his head towards Jae Kyung who’s now looking at him with lazy eyes. “I don’t have any, actually. Well, I have my auntie and uncle who actually treated me as their daughter and I also treated as my parents but if you’re talking about my biological parents, sorry but I don’t have one,” Jae Kyung chuckled but Prince Yi Eul knew that it’s not the laughter of happiness. "I actually forgot the feeling of having one." It’s dripping with bitterness. Of pain. Of Trauma. Of agony. “I’m sorry…” that’s the only words that came out of Prince Yi Eul’s mouth. Prince Yi Eul never, ever say he’s sorry to anyone—especially to his employees or to anyone that works under him. But right now, he felt guilty that he opened a sensitive topic at Jae Kyung. “Nah, don’t be. Chill,” Jae Kyung laughed again. “It’s not like they’re still alive, though. Ah, my mom is actually the one who’s dead while my dad? Nah, that bastard is having the happiest things in his life right now with other people, totally forgetting that his daughter existed. Not like I am still wondering if he still think I’m still alive though. He’s already dead for me.” That made Crown Prince Yi Eul speechless. He’ll be going to admit, he also has this not-so-perfect relationship with his parents but at least he could actually say that they equally love and respect them the same length as his queen grandmother and he could really say that he had such a wonderful, perfect family. But he didn’t actually expect what he just heard from Jae Kyung. Not that he cares, though… No, he doesn’t care… Nah, he has his own personal problems so he doesn't need to care about her.  “I’m sorry for bringing that up,” Prince Yi Eul said once again. “I’ll gonna be honest, I’m quite worried that Her Majesty will know about this or I think she already made a background check about me and will call the wedding off the moment you introduce me to her but I actually kind of relief that she didn’t because I’m still your fiancée for three weeks already. I could still help you,” Jae Kyung shrugged. “Regarding the meeting, I’ll notify my auntie and uncle about it. They’re the only parents that I could introduce to you.” Prince Yi Eul knew that Jae Kyung is always honest and straightforward so it didn’t really surprise him if she’ll talk like this because Jae Kyung got the attitude to match him. She really has the audacity to casually talk to him and defy him. That’s Kim Jae Kyung. But he just couldn’t help but feel worried or somehow sad over the fact that she just said it so bluntly like it’s a normal thing for her to discuss. Prince Yi Eul will never, ever be interested in anything about Kim Jae Kyung. But now, he wants to know every single thing about her… especially her past.   “Who really are you, Kim Jae Kyung?”
