육십번째 왕관 (60)
“I’m starting to feel disappointed and getting impatient, Prime Minister,” Princess Chae Rin said as she glared at the Prime Minister who’s now standing in front of her. “You kept on failing on dispatching those two, especially that Yi Eul.”
“I apologize—” before the Prime Minister could finish his words, the princess was already aiming a gun at him.
“Stop apologizing. It’s really making me more than mad,” Princess Chae Rin said, gritting her teeth. “My patience is already running low, Prime Minister. If you badly want to ascend in your position as well as making Yi Ryeo ascend to the throne, you have to dispatch the Crown Prince all at once!”
The Prime Minister stared at her and spoke. “I apologized for my tardiness, Your Highness…” he walked towards her and touched the gun on her hand then he puts it down, making her sigh. “I’m already working on dispatching the two of them.”
When the car’s door slowly opened, everyone who was actually waiting and standing on the side of the road was greeting, waving their banners, their flags, and their hands just to greet the Crown Prince and Princess. They just got home from a conference inside the Seoul National University to which they actually got invited. The people who were waiting and watching them looked so happy when they saw the couple. Jae Kyung was not yet used to this kind of attention especially the camera flashing to the both of them albeit they’re just inside the car.
Of course, she was once in their position—interviewing important people, taking pictures of them, or even makes articles about them.
And now, she was the center of everyone’s attention in television, social media, online news outlets, and even in newspapers. She’ll be going to admit, it was actually overwhelming her. It’s not like it’s a bad thing but yeah, it overwhelms her.
Awkwardly, she waved her hand to the people outside as their car slowly passed them. She even smiled at them as she shyly waved at them.
“Jae Kyung,” she heard Prince Yi Eul called her.
She turned her head towards him and before she could ask, he spoke. “I know you’re not used to this but we’re already pretending for almost two months. Get used to it.”
“I know, I know,” she responded as she kept on waving at the people outside. “I’m also trying my best, you know?”
“Don’t try,” the Crown Prince looked at her. “Do it.”
Before Jae Kyung could respond to him, he turned his head towards the window and waved to the people outside—with smiles and all.
Jae Kyung slightly clicked her tongue. “Huh. What’s with his sudden change of mood? Seriously, this prince.”
She stared at him for a couple of seconds, trying to imitate what he’s actually doing then she once again waved at the people outside and smiled at them brightly.
“Gongju-mama!” her eyes settled on the kids who were actually waving their own banners as well as some flowers. By the looks of it, they’re kindergarten pupils.
One thing that made Jae Kyung’s heart soft is the sight of kids. She definitely loves kids.
“Gongju-mama!” the kids called her with all their toothy smiles and happy squeals by just seeing her.
She wanted to be close to them.
“Driver, can you stop the car for a while?” Jae Kyung asked, tapping the driver’s seat.
Prince Yi Eul turned his head at her. “What? Why?”
“Just stop the car. It’ll be quick,” Jae Kyung responded then she clasped her palms together, as if she’s pleading to the Crown Prince. “Please? It’ll be quick. I promise you.”
Prince Yi Eul looked at his driver then signaled him to stop the car. He, then, faced Jae Kyung and spoke. “Okay but—hey!”
“Thank you!” before Prince Yi Eul could even finish his sentence, Jae Kyung quickly went outside the car and approached the kids.
Everyone was starstruck as they saw her walking towards the five kindergarten pupils. Even their teacher was actually speechless as she saw the Crown Princess up-close.
“Go-Gongju-mama…” everyone was staring at her in awe that Jae Kyung couldn’t help but felt conscious of what she’ll look like to them.
The five kids were now staring at her in astonishment as she smiled at her and slowly kneeled in front of them. Well, she was quite thankful that the dress she’s wearing was long.
One of the kids offered the rose he’s holding to her. Jae Kyung pointed to herself. “Is this for me?”
The boy nodded. “Yes, Gongju-mama. This is for you because you looked so pretty.”
Jae Kyung couldn’t help but smile. Of course, she was actually squealing internally because the kids in front of her were too cute to handle.
She seriously wanted to cry in softness seeing these cute kids in front of her.
“Oh, thank you so much, honey,” Jae Kyung said as she smiled, accepting the rose that the boy gave to him. She even opened her arms for him for a hug which actually made everyone shock. They didn’t really expect that.
Of course, the kid looked so happy seeing a princess who wanted to hug him so he immediately hugged her without a second thought that Jae Kyung couldn’t help but chuckle and smiled widely.
“Your Highness!” the teacher immediately called her when she stood up, carrying the kid as if it’s her own brother or something.
“Don’t worry,” she mouthed and looked at the kid who was actually squealing and giggling.
“The parents will be so happy that their son interacted with the Crown Princess. They’ll gonna cherish this moment forever.”
“Yes, I agree.”
“Our princess is so kind. My heart is so full of joy.”
“Exactly.”
Prince Yi Eul walked out of the car and walk towards Jae Kyung who just put the kid down but she’s still holding his hand. The Crown Prince was just staring at her and from a confused expression, Jae Kyung flaunted a bright smile at him which actually made his brow twitch.
“Wow, they looked like a family,” one of the people watching them commented just after he took some of their pictures.
“Now that you’ve mentioned it, you’re right!”
Prince Yi Eul offered his hand to Jae Kyung and spoke. “Let’s go now, Your Highness.”
I will definitely never fall in love with this person. Not ever.
Jae Kyung stared at him before holding his hand and smiled at him. “Yeah.”
In the middle of their conversation as well as the people who were actually watching them, they didn’t notice that something was aiming at them. Slowly, oh so slowly, trying to pull the trigger from the distance.
As soon as one of them will die, this will be the end of our suffering.
