How did it start? How did it end?
Jae Kyung didn’t know.
“I didn’t know how it started and why it ended like that…”
What she thought when she was a kid, that their family is perfect—just like what she read in fairy tales or even in movies.
But she’s wrong, definitely wrong.
Who would really think that two people who fell in love with each other ended up cheating, hurting, and lying to each other?
She didn’t know how and why people could actually fall out of love.
In her family’s case, it was her father.
“You motherfucking w***e!” she could actually hear the loud slap as well as her father’s voice inside her parents’ room. She could hear her mother’s cries, her pleas, her pain, and everything that she couldn’t help but cry helplessly in front of the closed door.
Her father’s voice is also terrifying. He was terrifying.
Even if she wanted to help her mother or even get her out of the said room, she couldn’t. Jae Kyung was just a helpless kid.
She’s too weak to defend her mother and stand against her father.
“You can’t even give me more money to make me happy, you f*****g b***h!”
“I’m sorry, honey. I really tried my best to sell Odeng-guk and rice cakes but I only sold a few,” her mother responded between painful groans and sobs.
“That’s because you are nothing but a f*****g useless b***h!!!” Jae Kyung heard another loud slap that she couldn’t help but gasp and cover her ears, trying not to hear anything.
This is not what she wanted.
This is not what she wanted to witness.
“I wish you all die! You both die!”
Jae Kyung gasped as she finally opened her eyes. She’s panting, trying to catch her breath. She saw how the sunlight peeked on her window as she looked around.
“It’s… morning…” she muttered to herself. “So I fell asleep, huh?”
She felt warmth around her and finally noticed that Prince Yi Eul was actually sleeping beside her, hugging her as if he’s securing her on something.
Almost forgetting about the dream, she silently gasped and felt her cheeks starting to warm—more like starting to feel hot.
Damn, she blushed in an ungodly moment.
Jae Kyung felt that the Crown Prince started to move so she shut her eyes again, faking a sleep.
Since her eyes were closed, she only let herself feel her surroundings and low-key trying to feel what Prince Yi Eul will do. She felt that Prince Yi Eul is now awake and moved. She tried not to flinch when she felt that the Crown Prince was caressing her hair, tucking her stray hair behind her ear. He let his hand stay on her head for a while before leaving the bed and silently left the room.
She’s actually surprised that the Crown Prince stayed with her for the whole night.
She slowly opened her eyes after hearing the door close and was finally sure that the Crown Prince was already out of her room.
Jae Kyung slowly sat up from her bed and looked at the window, with a sigh, she spoke to herself. “I already buried those bad memories into the depths in order to forget. But why… why do I need to see him again?”
“Your Highness, we’re here now.”
Jae Kyung sighed as she went out of the car that the Crown Prince let her use and was followed by Prince Yi Eul’s bodyguards.
Jae Kyung actually asked the Crown Prince’s permission to go to the cemetery to visit her mom’s grave. He actually agreed and let her go which she was actually happy about it but he insisted to let his bodyguards escort her since he couldn’t be with her since he’s having an appointment that morning and he just couldn’t ditch it. It’s not like she expects him to come with her, though.
Of course, he sent Do Wan to escort her and Do Wan actually brought seven nine bodyguards to escort her.
Jae Kyung couldn’t help but sigh as she walked inside the cemetery. She’s holding a bouquet of white roses and Do Wan was also brought a bouquet of roses with him as Prince Yi Eul instructed him.
“Seriously, I could just come here alone. I’ve been here for God knows when. You don’t have to escort me here,” Jae Kyung told the bodyguards behind her.
“His Royal Highness instructed us to never, ever let you stray away from us before and after you visit your mother’s grave,” Do Wan responded.
“Figures,” Jae Kyung said and sighed. “Of course, his words are the law.”
But she’ll not be going to lie that she actually appreciated how Crown Prince Yi Eul slightly cared for her.
As soon as Jae Kyung turned to the other side for the cemetery, to where her mother’s grave was placed, Do Wan spoke. “There’s someone coming here.”
“Really? I thought it’s only us—” Jae Kyung stopped in her tracks as soon as she saw whose Do Wan was talking about.
Her eyes widen as her hands starting to tremble, almost making the bouquet she’s holding to fall.
This is the worst.
“Jae Kyung-ah…”
She wanted to turn away, to walk away, to f*****g escape.
“Jae Kyung-ah…”
Destiny is really playing f*****g games on her that she’s now facing the least person she didn’t want to see, not in million f*****g years.
“Jae Kyung-ah… you’re here too… it's been a while..."
“Kim Joo Won.”
Her dad. She’s facing her father once again.
