Chapter Six Beck Smoke billowed around me, the air thick with it. I glanced up in the nick of time. A beam above gave way, and I dodged to the side. Moving on instinct alone with smoke obscuring everything, I shoved through a door at the end of the hallway. The smoke was thinner in here, and I could see the elderly woman in the bed. “Cade!
