For a moment, Annabel thought she had lost consciousness. It was weird, though, for she was fully awake and aware of what was happening, and still, she could see nothing. Her vision cleared, and she found herself in a room, her body solid and transparent at the same time. There was a young boy next to her, standing with his head down and his body trembling in fear. A tall man in a three-piece suit loomed over him in an angry posture and his face twisted with so much hatred that even Annabel shuddered. “You’re a curse to this family!” The older man hissed with disgust. The boy remained still, eyes peeking fearfully through his thick, wet eyelashes. “I’m sorry, father. I didn’t mean to—” A loud Flop! filled the air as his father slapped him across the face.
