How long were they in that position? Staring into each other’s eyes like nothing else existed? Like their current situation wasn’t something to be bothered about?
Anna felt his warm breath fan against her eyelashes as he pulled away from her, creating some much needed distance because it cleared up her fogged up mind.
“Get into the car,” his voice was low with an underlying threat, he wasn’t asking her, he was telling her.
He let go of her hand and crossed his arms over his black shirt, the material creasing at the action and Anna’s gaze remaining on his chest.
He was a beauty to behold...He would ruin her, Anna could feel it.
She raised up her head to look at him, well aware of the knowledge that her eyes were watery with unshed tears and unlike what she did with Yaakov, her fear and her anger were all clearly shown through her eyes.
He looked down at her, meeting her gaze like it was nothing challenging, contrary to what she was feeling in that moment.
“Get. In. The. Car.”
He carefully intonated every word and made his feelings and intentions clear.
No matter what was between them in that moment, it wasn’t enough to change his mind from what he came here for and what he truly wanted.
In the end, Kane is just a power hungry alpha, like the rest of them.
Disappointment bloomed in Anna’s chest as she looked away from those emotionless eyes and made her way to the car.
The wolves at the front letting out low growls as she passed by them.
Maybe it was intimidation or maybe they just felt threatened by her presence, after all she is the carrier of the wolf spirit.
The one that carries a power that can’t be contained by just one wolf if they aren’t strong enough.
Anna got into the car without hesitation, still shaken from what had just happened.
He had gotten so close to her that her mind became consumed only by thoughts if his lips pressing against hers.
She hated it.
She hated feeling relief when she realized what they were, she hated being so weak even after having so much power at her fingertips.
She got in through the back seat and Kane came in the other way.
There was already a man in the driver’s seat with a head full of blonde hair and Anna secretly wished it actually helped with the suffocating feeling being in the back with Kane created, but it didn’t.
“Damn!” came a whistle from the blonde man in the driver’s seat.
He turned his head to get a better look, Anna was taken aback by the attractiveness of the man.
His blue eyes were a darker shade than Yaakov’s yet they held so much intensity and power, he had a nose with a talk bridge, thin lips that looked perfect on his skin and the most beautiful brown skin she’d ever seen. He practically glowed in the sunlight, Anna wished she had more time to admire him but there was that reminder in her head, the darker and even more attractive man sitting next to her.
“I expected her to look like a goddess but hell! She’s fine as f*ck!”
He laughed and nodded his head at Anna, his long blonde hair moving to rest on his face as he did.
He brushed away the stray locks with his fingers and still kept his eyes on Anna.
“I’m Anthony,” he said with a sheepish grin.
Anna noticed the red mark on his neck, an Alpha’s bite but at the same time different from the rest.
A Beta.
She could tell because that was the only part of her gift she could access, identification of ranks and strength.
Nothing else.
His eyes were friendly though, the first friendly eyes she’s seen in years, it caught her off guard, leaving her at loss for words.
“Come on...Don’t tell me you’re shy!” he rolled his eyes and chuckled.
“Tony...” Kane said. His tone dark and the emotions in his eyes even darker, it sent shivers down Anna’s spine.
Anthony only spared Kane and exasperated glance before turning back to Anna, his brows raised in question.
“I...” Her voice cracked embarrassingly, her cheeks heated up and she looked away from the blue eyed man.
“I’m Annalisa, but please call me Anna,”
Yaakov had succeeded in making her hate the sound of her full name.
“Anna!” Anthony gave an excited smile, “It is an honor and a pleasure to meet you,”
Anna felt herself relax somewhat under his gaze but still cautiously eyes his outstretched hand. She wasn’t going to take it, it took him a few seconds to realize before retracting back his hand.
“Why the long face?” he nodded at Kane.
Kane blew out a breath and pulled out a cell phone from his pocket, dialing a number and completely ignoring Anthony’s question.
He raised the phone up to his ear and there was a faint sound from it after a few seconds.
“Yes, get everything ready,” he said.
Get what ready?
Anna eyed the man warily, just as he was about to look at her, she shifted her gaze to her lap and kept it there.
“Drive Tony, I don’t have all f*****g day!”
“Yes sir!”
Tony gave a mock salute and got seated properly, starting the car and driving off.
Ann turned her attention to the moving trees outside of the window, an intense sense of déjà vu hit her in that moment as she realized that the last time she went down this path was when she was brought to Bullhorn pack.
Four years of torture finally ended...Or maybe it was only going to get worse from here?
Anna inhaled deeply and tried to calm her pounding heart.
She had to stop showing them just how afraid she was…she also needed to stop giving in.
The drive was long and silent and in that silence, Anna had made a promise to herself.
She would no longer be the victim.
Things would be different.
