CHAPTER: 3

Liam Redwood woke up slowly. The beast within him was getting quite restless. Ever since the name 'Vienna Steven' had appeared on his computer screen with a picture of her and her beautiful violet eyes, his dragon had been wanting out more and more, scratching at the surface, pushing him to go out and find her, wherever she may be. Whether she knew it or not, Vienna and her sisters were important in the fight that was to come. Grabbing a pair of jeans, he slipped them on and ran his fingers through his dark brown hair before heading downstairs to make a cup of coffee. Just then the back door squeaked and Deborah walked in. Her long, blonde hair was left open, and she was wearing a pair of skin-tight black leather pants and a green fitted blouse that emphasized her green, cat-like eyes. The look she gave Liam made him smirk. "Coffee?" he asked Debbie. Her only reply was an unladylike snort. His lips curved in a half-smile as he grabbed two cups. Deborah Atkin had the ability to blend into her environment so well that she could not be detected. She had been spending her nights trying to get information on what Mackenzie's men were up to. Handing her a cup of coffee, Liam sat on the chair, stretching out his long legs. "What were you able to find out?" Liam asked Deborah. As he took a sip, Debbie brought the coffee to her lips and inhaled deeply giving a contented sigh before taking her first sip. "Mackenzie's sending someone. He needs to verify that this girl Vienna and her sisters are the descendants of the original Earth Witch. We don't have much time."       Raising an eyebrow at that, he took another sip of his coffee. "What do they know about her?" Debbie shrugged. "Not a whole lot. They know about what we also know. Their parents died a few years ago. They have no relatives, so the older sister, Vienna chose to keep them all together and take care of them. Liam thought about that for a minute. From the little bit of information, that they had gathered so far, by all accounts, these girls were living normal lives. Who would have thought that between them, they had the power to find and unleash the power within the Diamond Dragon? The Diamond Dragon was a statue made of precious diamonds, that the gods made when they agreed to spare the original dragon's lives after they helped kill the titans. If the power was released from the Diamond Dragon, they would go back to their former size and strength, which subsequently would start a war between them and the humans. Mackenzie was the younger brother of the Dragon King, Jordan, and had decided that the Dragon's place was to rule the world. Humans were nothing but inferior to them and should bow before them. Getting up, Liam went to the kitchen and put his cup away. "Since they seem pretty sure that Vienna and her sisters are the ones, it won't be much longer until they try to take them." Before he even turned around Liam could feel Deborah watching him, a small smile playing on her lips. He narrowed his eyes. She had been teasing him ever since his strange reaction to Vienna's pictures. "Mackenzie knows he has to win them to his side. He cannot threaten to kill one of them. He needs all five. Plus, he fears that if he angers them, they will turn their power against him." "It is funny to think Mackenzie's scared of an eight-year-old girl," Liam said with a bit of a laugh as he tried to picture the big dragon quailing before a child. Shaking her head, Deborah laughed too. "Well, you know what they say about small packages." Raising an eyebrow, Liam said, "Small packages huh, I don't think, Debbie, your current lover would appreciate that statement." Rolling her eyes, Deborah checked her email on her phone. "I think it is time one of us should go to join Stuart and Elvis. Those girls seem to be so innocent, far, and alone. They are surely going to need our help when Mackenzie's men show up." Liam nodded. "I will go. You are needed here. I cannot sneak in and out in the presence of Mackenzie's men as easily as you can." The look Deborah shot him let him know she did not believe him. "I am going for a shower and to pack some stuff. Would you mind letting Stuart and Elvis know I am coming?" Liam said. For the past few weeks, Liam had been itching to do something. He was not a person who enjoyed sitting around for a very long period. Although gathering intelligence was always an important part of any mission, but the beast within him was ready to come out and fight.                                                                                                                                                                  *********** Landing at the airbase, Liam slowly descended from the Cessna Citation private jet. He really missed those days when he could just shift into a dragon and fly from place to place, but he did enjoy the little luxuries their Dragon King gave them to do their jobs. As Liam walked out of the plane, a black Chevrolet Silverado pulled up. The driver's side door opened and out stepped Stuart Turner. Liam was tall, at over six feet, and broad shoulders. Stuart was slightly taller, but leaner. The Turner brothers Stuart and Elvis were sent to watch after the Steven sisters when they first found out about their identities almost three months ago. Stuart had dark brown hair while his emerald green eyes stood out against his olive complexion. "Where is Elvis?" Liam asked when he observed that Stuart was alone. "He gets out of school in ten minutes. We enrolled him in the high school where the four Steven sisters go to, so he could keep an eye on them," Stuart said to Liam. Liam nodded as he took his suitcase to the car trunk. "Are you enjoying your job as a security guard?" he asked Stuart. Stuart while snickering, got into the SUV and waited for Liam to get in before he started the engine. "My desk is not too far from the reception desk, so I can keep an eye on the eldest Steven sister." Stuart backed up and left the small airport. "What have you found out about her?" Liam asked. "She seems nice, but keeps to herself at work, though she is friendly too," Stuart said. Liam noticed Stuart smiling. "One of the lawyers has a soft corner for the eldest Steven sister, but she does not seem to be interested in him. There is one guy who comes around, but what I have judged they are just old friends," Stuart said.  Liam felt the dragon under his skin scratching to get out. The Earth Witch was important, and his dragon was not pleased about the idea of some stupid human sniffing around her. Even hearing that they were old friends did not ease his dragon.
