The Pack's Intro

1005 Words
So I knew the secret of Alpha Gene's pack. It was a pretty big deal. I had his entire pack's life in my hands so to speak. I am sure he was unhappy with the whole idea but there it was. The way things had happened, there was no other way to get around it. Doing the next best thing, he invited my kids and me to dinner one night. When we arrived I noticed many people roaming around doing chores. I knew this must be the packhouse that was the center point of the pack, where the high-ranking wolves ran the pack from. There I met his wife/Luna who was human, not counting His children, the Beta, and his mate who are also werewolves. We chatted about this and that concerning getting the ranch up and running for it to start producing for the pack. Once dinner finished, the kids were allowed to wander into the playroom. I kept an eye on my son; the autism caused him to be very picky about who and where he was. I could easily know his mood and if it shifted based on his mannerisms. "Maya we would like to bring you into the pack as a member." Alpha Gene just blurted out. My head snapped in his direction, shock written all over my face. "I... I am not." I stuttered. "I know, my wife is human but can still mind-link the pack should she need to." He smiled a brilliant one at the woman in his arms. Her brown eyes sparkled with his praise. "What does it entail?" I asked. "We would request an elder's presence and then do the ritual bond." The Beta, his name I later remembered was Stan. "Hmmm, does it require blood?" Curiosity opened my mouth. "Yes, it does." Stan nodded, "though not as much as one would think." I said nothing, and I normally bulked on anything to do with blood. Things that had to do with that usually made me turn tail and run. I had always understood that any form of blood magic was taboo. This had me curious. My gut said this was okay. "Call the elder to come." I nodded, not saying yes or no. A few days later, I got a call that the elder would be arriving the next day or so, knowing that the weekend was when they planned to do the pack welcome. I agreed and went on about life. I felt something tickle the back of my mind but did not voice it. I lived an odd life, far from the way I was raised. So this would be a new experince to add to my personal journey. Arrangements were made for my induction into their pack. I thought nothing about the event. I had my things to deal with while keeping my ranch running smoothly. I had an odd feeling about it but could not place it. (If I thought about it now very likely my intuitive instinct was giving me a heads up.) The day of the event arrived. I got my chestnut locks in the best messy bun I could, slapped some eyeliner and mascara on my grey eyes, and made sure my kids were dressed and ready. The drive to the packhouse was forty-five minutes, the last part being a gravel road for twenty minutes. Getting out, I was surprised to see both my son and daughter run into the packhouse straight to the playroom. My heart smiled knowing that my son seemed to like this place. Beta Stan met me at the steps to the packhouse. "Good evening Maya." He smiled "Good evening, Stan." I smiled. Walking next to him, he led me into the parlor where there was an older woman, perhaps late forties. She was a good head taller than me. Her tawny gold hair fell well past her waist and silver highlights showed her wisdom. "Lady Allison," Beta Stan started. "This is Maya, the one we requested you here for." "Good evening Lady Allison." I bowed my head and body slightly though my eyes watched her crystal clear blue ones. "Maya," Lady Allison smiled reaching out to shake my hand. "It is a pleasure to meet you." Our eyes locked for a split second which sent a jolt through us both. Looking to Beta Stan her smile still tipping to the corners of her mouth, "Would you mind giving us a minute?" "Of course," Beta Stan nodded his brown eyes darting between us as he headed out of the room closing the door quietly. Lady Allison waited for the door to close before she said, "In most ways, you appear human, yet I smell wolf slightly mixed within you?" She asked. "I have no idea." I shrugged. "Do you have a belief in our Moon Goddess?" I could sense it felt odd on her tongue to ask such a question. "I am not sure of the name of your Moon Goddess, but over the years I was drawn to the Goddess Leto. She was the mother goddess of the ancient land of Lyica." I shrugged. I watched as her blonde eyebrows hit her hairline at record speed. "May I see your hands?" She breathed holding out hers. I nodded and reached out, my hands facing up. She scanned them for about a minute. I was not sure what she was looking for. I worked with my hands a lot running the small ranch we have. In truth, I was looking at my hands to figure out what she was looking for. I then heard her squeal "Beta Stan please get Alpha Gene!" A smile went from ear to ear on her and she was glowing with pride. Her crystal blue eyes danced with eagerness and pride. My curiosity was piqued and I was excited to see how this plays out now. What did the Goddess Leto have to do with their Moon Goddess? Let alone what did it all have to do with me.
