Ritual

Elder Braun escorted me to a large room much like a community hall. He led me to a stage where both Alpha Gene and his Luna were standing. Beta Stan stood below them on the ground next to the stage—a table set up with both a gold bowl and dagger. I had a slight pang of fear course through me as I glanced over at Elder Braun. He has a warm smile and nods.

Getting on stage, I suddenly feel rooted there. Glancing at all three, Luna smiles at me, trying to support me quietly. "When I did this it was over quickly." She said as she touched my other elbow motioning me forward.

"Tonight, we welcome a new member to The Dry Gulch pack. We shall receive her with open arms and support." Alpha Gene addressed the members in attendance. I saw a nod going through the crowd. "Elder Allison and Elder Braun are here to witness this." Alpha Gene glanced around the room.

Lady Allison stepped to the stage next To Elder Braun. Beta Stan came to stand next to them holding the dagger and bowl together.

Alpha Gene glances around the stage to nod. Turning back to the crowd he lifts his voice, "Maya Munoz please step forward." Nodding to me he turns to face me his icy blue eyes warming a little as they Look back to the crowd, "do you wish to be accepted into this pack?"

"I do," I nodded.

"Will you submit to my leadership, knowing that all I do is for the benefit of the pack?" Again he returned his gaze to me. I could feel a sudden burst of power radiate off him, though it did nothing to my body. I glanced at the others on the stage and noticed some had leaned their necks over to the side.

"I do," leaning my neck to the side to show him.

Nodding his approval, he again announced, "Everything you do will be for the benefit of the pack and its protection. You will come to me for direction with important issues related to the pack and its safety." Again his eyes fell on me.

"I will," I nodded glancing sideways to see the people.

"I accept you and both pups into this pack. I grant your family the same protections as other pack members. Welcome to Dry Gulch Pack!" He shouted at the end. Beta Stan stepped forward, handing him the bowl with the dagger inside. I caught a whiff of a metallic smell but figured it had to do with the bowl. I watched as he sliced his palm, holding it over the bowl as the blood dribbled into it. Taking Luna Carolina's hand he did a small poke on her middle finger. Her blood also slid down into the bowl she held. Turning his attention back to me he held out a hand. I placed my hand in his and nodded. I knew he was going to cut it. I readied for the pain. I sucked in my breath and hissed it out and the blade slid across my palm. Placing my hand above the bowl to drain into the dish. I saw that both Alpha Gene and Luna Carolina were already healed. A bandage placed on her finger and no wound remained on the Alpha.

I looked around at everyone. Knowing my next move may not be well-liked, though it was something I had always done when I got hurt. I swooped my tongue across my wound. Knowing it would stop shortly after. I noticed a surprising look on both the Luna and the Beta. Glancing back I saw Lady Allison surprised as well—a smile on both Elder Braun and Alpha Gene. Taking the bowl from his Luna, Alpha Gene, lifted it to his lips drinking some, passing it to his Luna. I noticed a brighter flash of blue telling me his wolf had surfaced. Luna Carolina sipped it, quietly handing it directly to me. I caught a whiff of the heavy metallic smell and the hint of something I could not put my finger on. Lifting it to my lips I drank. Beta Stan took the bowl from my hands and then placed a bandage on my hand.

I watched Alpha Gene and Luna Carolina suck in a breath with Alpha Gene glancing at the two Elders. I looked and both had surprised expressions. Elder Braun lifted a hand to his eyes and pointed then to mine. Glancing up at the mirror behind the stage I seen luminous violet staring back at me. Surprise splashed across my face followed by panic. Elder Braun walked up as did Lady Allison. Lady Allison hugged me quickly and Elder Braun placed his hand on my shoulder.

"You are now officially in our pack!" Alpha Gene roared excitedly in my head.

My eyes snapped to Alpha Gene. "I heard you!" I exclaimed.

The most resounding laughter I have ever heard came from Alpha Gene's chest.

"It is a pleasure to have you among us." Luna Carolina spoke in my head.

My eyes jumped to her. "I heard you too!"

I saw a smile spread across her face as she nodded and turned. Heading down from the stage I could see that she was directing the function.

Looking back to Elder Braun and Lady Allison I asked, "Will I hear you as well?"

Lady Allison flashed me a huge smile. "No dear, I am not a part of this pack. I am traveling through and just happened to be here." She shrugged.

I looked at Elder Braun, "Hey kiddo." He smiled brightly.

In my head, I said, "So you are a part of this pack?" I smiled big hoping he heard.

"I can hear all alphas and lunas in the world. if I focus on one of their members I can hear them as well." I can hear the smile in his voice that matched the smile on his face. "Let us go down and introduce you to the members." He held out his arm to me.
