Saoirse was seated on her bed with her back against the wall. She was just starring off into nothing when Silver came back to the room. The beads across the doorway falling back into place as she moved through. "Hey, you okay? You're really deep in thought." She commented as she plopped onto her bed.
Saoirse met her blue eyes. "Remember how Damian wanted to meet with me tonight?"
Silver nodded then stripped down and pulled on a long over night shirt for bed. "What did he say?" She asked climbing under the sheets.
"He offered me a feature position with the club. I'd have free reign to do what ever I want. Even a percentage of the door proceeds on the nights I perform." She said quietly.
"Holly s**t Really?" Silver sat up. "That's amazing!" Silver was excited for her. "He's never done that before Saoirse. I mean ,he's good to his dancers, don't get me wrong, but we're all pretty equal in stage time. Now he wants to offer you premier time? He must be really impressed by you. Damian,...he ...well ...he 's pretty cold hearted. He has lost a lot of family, and even though he has distant cousins, or uncles, or whatever." She shrugs. "He's only close to Dominic. This is kind of unheard of. I've worked there for three years now and he's never made anyone that kind of offer. Can't say I blame him though girl. You are magical!"
"I'm jut wondering if it's the right choice though. I trained my entire life to be a ballerina. To be lead dancer of my troupe. Now I'm dancing on a pole in a strip club!. Not sure my Da will approve." She said sadly.
"Awe hon, I get it. You had it all. The dream of your life. You were living it! But sometimes reality steps in and b***h slaps you into next year! I know! It's happened to me a couple times. But what I'm seeing in you is that you're like that big cat you portrayed on stage tonight. You land on your feet." Silver grinned. "I see you getting a new dream, and I see you rubbing the noses of those hoity toity assholes who left you behind for a world tour. That ex partner of yours will get his. Mark my words. Even if he gets off from deliberately dropping you and causing you a world of hurt. He'll get his too. I believe in that. It's called karma."
"I don't want to hurt him physically, you know? Just professionally. Her too. His girlfriend, the reason he did what he did." Saoirse's eyes teared up. "I need to call Da tomorrow and talk to him. Explain about uncle Liam, and tell him about my new job."
"I'll take you to my cell provider and we'll get you all set up. Then you can call your dad and figure out where you go from here."
"Your right. No more thinking tonight." She reached up and hit the light switch. "Good night Silver."
The next morning after the girls helped pull a breakfast together for everyone helped clean the loft and clean shower rooms the two girls talked Scott into driving them shopping. First they hit up the cell phone store. It didn't take long to get hooked up. Then while they left the phone in the truck to charge by using the car adaptor, they went shopping for new clothes, and lunch.
Getting back to the loft, Saoirse sat on her bed, and then dialed her dad's number. It was Saturday. He'd be home.
The phone rang twice then he picked up "Saoirse?" Her Da's voice came over the phone.
"Hi Da, yes it's me." She smiled a little.
"Why didn't you call me sooner? I've been going out of my mind. I've tried calling Liam, and getting no answer.!" His voice was gruff.
"Yeah, about uncle Liam, he didn't show up at the bus stop. And he didn't answer when I called either. So I...well...I found a place to live and got a job."
"What!" He yelled down the line. "He didn't show? Nothing? No explanation?" Donavan was pissed!
"Da!" Saoirse said sternly. "You know he wasn't really interested in having me here. Anyway, I'm good Da. I live in a loft with several artists and it's actually great. My room mate and friend is named Silver. She helped me get a job at the club where she works as a dancer. Really Da. Calm down and listen to me. I'm making good money ,and I'm dancing. I'm happy. I'll be sending money into the hospital, so you don't worry. Da please. I'm good. I was offered a prime spot, with my own choreography and dressing room. I even get proceeds from the door charge. It's a good job Da. I'm dancing." She got quiet.
"Okay lass. Just do your old Da a favor and keep in touch with me?" He sounded worried.
"I'm calling you from my cell phone. Take down the number Da. You can call me anytime during the day. I work after six at night. I'll give you my set schedule when I get one. Tonight is my second night there, but my boss is really good and I'm safe."
"I love you Saoirse. I'll call tomorrow, Okay?" He sounded better.
"Yeah Da. I need to get ready for tonight. I love you." She hung up, then changing into a leotard she headed upstairs to come up with a dance.
She and Silver walked into the club at five. They walked back to the dressing room and she went through the costumes to find something for tonight. She found something purple and flowing. She found a pair of white stilettos that fit. Changing into the almost see through gown and pulling on lace stockings and panties she sat down to do her make up and hair. When she was finished she took her music to the stage and talked to the lighting man. Then went back down the hall to wait for Dom. He was in the hall all ready. He smiled when he saw her. "Damian is waiting in his office to talk to you. You'll follow Silver tonight. She's after Britney, so listen for their names." She nodded then headed for the stairs that led to the office on the second floor. She knocked lightly, and it didn't take long to hear Damian answer "Come in" in his low voice. She pushed the door open and walked inside. Closing the door softly behind her.
Damian stood and indicated the chair in front of his desk. His eyes followed her movement as she almost floated across the room. She was breath taking.
She sat and crossed her legs and folded her hands together in her lap. He eased himself into his chair. Her green eyes met his brown ones and he watched her take in a deep breath. "Good evening Saoirse." He said deeply. "I was hoping to get answer to my proposal this evening."
She smiled warmly. "I have thought of nothing else to be honest. I need you to understand that...I don't want to be doing this for my whole life. I...well I want to have my own dance studio and teach. So I'm taking the job, and I'm only doing it until I have the money I need to do that."
He was nodding. His hands steepled in front of his face. "Okay. I think that's actually a good idea."He smiled at her. "Intelligent as well as beautiful." He rose and she did too. "You look lovely tonight. Do you have something amazing planned for this evening too?'
She blushed as she moved towards the door with him following.. "Something a little mellower than last night. A little more romantic, I think. I'll be incorporating some ballet tonight."
"I'll be sure to watch." He murmured.
She ducked her head then headed down the stairs. She glanced up once and his eyes were still on her. A little thrill went through her, tightening her stomach. She turned and headed toward the stage hallway.
Halfway there a man stepped in front of her. He reached for her arm, stopping her. "Hey honey." He slurred. "Aren't you that cute little kitty from last night?" He slide his other hand down around her waist and drug her into his body. He reeked of booze. She tried to push away from him, but his grip tightened painfully around her waist. "Awe come on sweetie. Give me some sugar!" He tried to put his mouth on hers. She was struggling hard in his arms to get away from him. All of a sudden he was jerked away from her and she stumbled into the strong arms of another man. Damian had the drunk bent with his arms like a pretzel behind his back and Dominic had her wrapped into his arms to prevent her from falling. She looked up at Dom first and then Damian. "I'm...I'm fine, really." She reached out with a small hand towards Damian. Dominic released her, and she put her hand on Damian's shoulder. He looked up at her. He shoved the drunk into Dominic's hands.
"Take him downstairs." He growled. He then gently took her arm and led her towards the dressing room, but took her into a private room. He sat her down and someone produced a glass of water. He pushed it into her hands. She took a swallow and then placed it on a low table near her chair. "Did he hurt you?" His deep voice brought her green eyes to stare into his.
"No, not really. He ...was a little handsy but no damage done. I might have a bruise or two on my waist where his fingers bit into me a little to hard, but I'm fine really."
Damian growled then ran a hand through his black hair in agitation. "I'm sorry. That shouldn't have happened. He should have been cut off before he got that drunk. Guess I need to talk to the waitress."
"I a...well I should go check my makeup and wait my turn. Thank you Damian." She rose and started for the door.
"Wait." He stood and looked at her. " This will be your dressing room. I'll have a crew in tomorrow. Paint, mirrors, costumes. Whatever you need."
She looked around the room. It wasn't huge, but she liked it. "Thank you Damian."
He moved closer to her and took her small hand in his. He raised it to his mouth and kissed her knuckles. "I want you to be happy here, but I also want you to know I'll keep you safe." He said softly.
She stared. Then nodded her head. "I believe you." She whispered. Then she turned and went back out into the hallway and went to the dressing room. Silver was there making costume adjustments.
"Hey sweetie! You okay? I heard that both Damian and Dom had to peel some guy off you."
"No, yeah I'm good. A little startled, but I'm good. You up next?' She sat in front of the mirror and picked up a make up brush and brushed some blush across her cheeks.
"Yup! Then you sugar cakes!" Silver giggled then slipped her shoes on. "See you when it's done." They high fived and Silver went to get ready to go on stage.
