Chapter 5- Bring My Voice Back°

1521 Words
Yuri's POV I couldn’t relax. I'm in front of the Business Ad Building while waiting for my sister Suri to come out. "What took her so long?" I whispered in boredom. I told her to meet me outside the building but, until now she doesn't appear. I walk back and forth biting my fingernails in tension. I find ways to get rid of Shin earlier. He's so persistent to bring me to the infirmary. This is a serious matter. This is made of a curse and I don't think they can do something about this. That freaking, Jack Ross! I don't know who exactly he is and where he came from but one thing I'm sure of, he is not a normal student. I will be in great danger if I will still keep seeing him. People here are so weird. They have powers. Who are they? Why are they ruling this school and scaring all the students to death? Oh...I feel so tired of thinking. I want my voice back. I cupped my face in disappointment. I feel so hopeless. I'm not messing up with those school highnesses. They are the ones who messed up with me. They're bullying me and hurting me in every possible way they can. Finally, after almost an hour of waiting my twin sister showed up. She gets into me immediately. She grabbed my arm, looked at me from head to toe, twisted me, and then took a deep breath feeling so relieved. "Oh, thanks! I thought you get hurt," she said looking so worried about me. I turned my gaze to her. She needs to help me. "I know we talked about not using our power at school but I need your help. You need to do something for me," I told her without the effort of opening my mouth. We have the power to read people's minds and she will understand me for sure. "What happened to you and your speaking voice?" she asked confusingly. "One of the school highnesses did this to me, he told me that this cursed will last for three days but it can't be... how can I attend school with a situation like this?" I said feeling so hopeless. "Then what do you think I can do to help you?" she asked. I looked at her intensely. I need to concentrate more for her to understand me. "You have one hour vacant, right?" I asked trying to make sure of my plans. She nodded. "Yes, why?" she asked me in return. "I need you to be me and attend to Mr. Demetri's subject," I said in a desperate tone. Mr. Demetri loves surprises, I don't want to miss his subject. "What?! No way!" she exclaimed and then look at me with a frowning face. We're fraternal twins that's why we don't look like each other. "Oh... come on, you did it once, you copied me remember? You're grounded but you still want to go outside to meet your friends so you copied my face and pretend that you are me so you to leave our house freely. You deceived Mom and Dad," I said trying to recall to her what she did in the past. "That was a long time ago and I regret it. Deceiving someone is not good, especially to your parents. I felt so guilty about it and I promised myself not to do it anymore," she said feeling so regretful. "But, you have to do it again, just once... do it for me, please... I'm begging you!" She looked at me seriously as if contemplating what would happen if she agreed to my request of copying my face and pretending to be me. She hesitated. "Look, I'm not doing this to deceive people. I'm doing this because I want to help you and I hope this will be the last time that you will ask me this favor," she said trying to sound reasonable. I nodded one after another. I'm afraid that she might change her mind if I did not respond immediately to her. "Come on, we need to go to a place where no one can see us." She grabbed my hand and lead her way to the back of the building. She let go of my hand and take a deep breath and then concentrated. I let her do what she needs to do. I stood still and just kept quiet. She started her spell. "My face is bright, I need a light to start up life. With a count of three transform me to be Yuri. One... two... three..." My eyes widened in shock. I could not believe what I was seeing. As I blink my eyes more often, I can see Suri looks more exactly like me. "What do you think?" She turned around and then flip her hair. "This is cool," she giggled. She looks so happy. I lost words when I hear her talking. I cover my mouth in surprise that she even copy my speaking voice. It's just like I'm mirroring myself. "You need to hide. It's not good to see you with two faces. Just wait for me until your classes are over," she said with a serious face. I nodded. "Be careful not to get caught," I remind her before she leaves me. She just waves her hand in dismissal. Covering myself with my hoodie jacket. I stayed in the Lagoon. With nothing so much to do, I find myself reading the book. I was so carried away by what I was reading that I didn’t even notice that someone was standing in front of me. I looked up to recognize him. My eyes widened to see Shin in front of me who was pretty handsome with his smile. He loses his eyes when he is smiling. "What the hell is he doing here?" "I was looking for you everywhere, you're just here, are you okay now?" he asked looking so friendly with me. I wonder why he keeps on following me and is even more concerned about me. I just nodded. I didn't bother to open my mouth because no words would come out of it anyways. But, to my surprise, he walks toward me and sits beside me. I don't know what happened why did my heart beat so fast all of a sudden, it feels like it was not normal for me to be this close to him, I feel so uncomfortable and at the same time, I feel so nervous. He looked up and looked at the sky. He covered his face with his palm so that the sun would not hit his eyes directly. His gaze, only further emphasized how prominent his jawline was. His strawberry blonde hair glows even more when hit by the sun. Doesn't he know how handsome he is? He was like a prince who came out of the book and pretended to be human. His good looks seem to be illegal on the earth. His skin is so smooth too that I feel shame about mine. I know there is no perfect person but why is it that when I look at him I find nothing wrong with his physical appearance. He looks so good to be true. "Are you done scanning me?" I was about to fall into my seat when he suddenly spoke. I didn’t realize myself being too carried away by just staring at him. I could not answer him out of embarrassment. I immediately turned my gaze to the beautiful plants around. I pretended to hear nothing. Then I heard him laughing so hard that I turned my gaze to him. My forehead frowned. What is this man doing here? If he wasn't so handsome I would think that he likes me that's why he keeps on following me wherever I go. "Don't you have classes?" I asked irritatedly. I didn't like how he laughed. "I have, but I don't feel like learning today," he answered lazily. I cover my mouth in surprise when I realized that he understood what I'm saying even though there are no words that come out of my mouth. "Do you... by any chance can read what's on my mind?" I asked looking at him intensely. He looks back at me and then smiles. My heart pounds in excitement. Poor me. Why is it that his smile has this big effect on me? "Yes, but not exactly all, I have restrictions. I don't want to invade personal matter in one's mind," he answered. If I understood it correctly, not everything in my mind he could read and it makes me feel so relieved. "You mean you will understand me, even if I don't open my mouth like this?" I asked out of curiosity. He nodded. "Yup," he said matter-of-factly... "Can you also help me get my voice back?" He looked weighty at me and then smiled as if foolishly. "I can, but we have to make a deal out of it," he said. I furrow my brows in pure confusion. "What is he up to?
