PROLOGUE TWO

The angry alpha heard her mother's words and ordered her to be dragged away along with her husband. He directed two guards to take Isadora into the rat-infested prison, isolating both parents and kid. The following day, the alpha convened another meeting with pack members and the priest to decide Isadora's fate. "Banish her! We don't want to be affected by this curse," people shouted. "Kill her! It would be the fastest way to get rid of this curse," others screamed. They had all developed hatred for Isadora out of fear for the unknown, or maybe it was because of the fear they had for the alpha. They would rather let a little girl die in place of them all or treat her like she was some kind of contagious disease. "Silence everyone; do not speak unless otherwise asked to do so." The alpha commanded, and they all bowed their heads in surrender. The priest walked up to him to whisper something in his ears, which made the alpha become red like he had seen a ghost. "The girl cannot be killed, and neither can she be banished, for she has laid a curse on us. If we banish her, we will all perish due to the curse." The alpha repeated what he had been told by the priest, and everyone gasped. Isadora's mother couldn't believe her ears and thought she was dreaming. If she thought the alpha was just crazy, then she was wrong. She held her husband's hands tightly and wept as they both listened to the sick alpha decide the fate of their daughter. "If we kill her, we all perish; the only thing we can do is keep her," he said, clenching his fist. "But is she not dangerous? What do we do? Can't she harm us in return for letting her live?" someone in the crowd shouted. "We shall keep her as a slave. We didn't know the powers she wields as the golden wolf, and we do not want that power in the wrong person's hands, so we keep her as our weapon," the alpha said, laughing evilly to his people because deep down in his heart he had evil intentions of what to do with her. "But be weary of her. Let your children stay away from her. Or they might be cursed with the same curse," he concluded. "But for her parents, we banish them and break their bond with this pack. They are too far gone and will never return. The day they do,that will be their end." Everywhere was silent as the alpha said this. No one stood up for her parents, as they were all afraid of both the "curse" and the "alpha," but especially the alpha. "Can I see my daughter for one more time, please, as a mother, one more time?" Isadora watched her mother beg, crying at the top of her lungs, and this made her cry from where she was kept. After much thought, the alpha told the parents they could only see their daughter when she was settled in prison. He only agreed to this after the pack begged for the parents to see their daughter for the last time. Isadora's parents secretly hatched a plan. The mother was to escape with her first; immediately, her father brought her to a designated place while her mom waited. That way, it would be easier for them to escape when they don't do it all together. Isadora's father was led to the place where his daughter was kept as she lay on the cold floor. Hearing the sounds of footsteps, Isadora woke up and was happy when she saw it was her father and not the wicked guards who didn't bring her any food. "Daddy!" Isadora started to cry, but her father quickly covered her mouth with his hands. "Isadora I have a plan, and I want you to go with it. You have to be strong and save your tears for another day until we escape from the pack and are safe. Your mom is waiting for us," he said, patting her hair as he tried to calm her down while she sobbed. He held her hands and picked Isadora up as he began his escape plan. He told her to hold her breath, promising her everything would be over soon. "Where do you think you are going?" The alpha shouted, blocking the entrance, and this made him pause on his feet. "Kneel," he commanded using his alpha voice, but he refused. He would rather be killed than let go of his precious daughter. Seeing his stubbornness, the alpha gave a signal to the other two guards standing at the entrance. They went out of the door and came back, bringing in Isadora, who struggled to free herself from their tight grip. "You thought you could pull this little stunt on me, your alpha." He held Isadora's mother by the hair, and she let out a loud scream from the pain. "I think you now realize that all your plans are futile. I will give you one more chance to leave and drop that little demon in your hand, or else you and your wife will die right here in front of your daughter, and I will make sure she never forgets the memories of her parents dying right in front of her eyes." The alpha threatened. Isadora's mother signaled her husband to let her go. She couldn't bear the thought of Isadora watching them die right in front of her eyes. Thankfully, her mate and loving husband dropped Isadora to the ground, whispering to her. "It's going to be all right, sweetie. Your mom and I are going to leave for a while, and then we'll be back to get you. I promise" He placed a kiss on her temple. "Oh, such pitiful speech! You are so foolish to think I will let you leave after such an act of treason." In the blink of an eye, the alpha grabbed her father by the neck and snapped it in half. Isadora watched her father's lifeless body drop to the floor. She watched mom, whose mate bond had just been brutally broken, howl out an earth-shaking scream at the loss of her mate. "Kill her and dispose of their bodies. Feed it to the rats," the alpha commanded the guards. "Daddy, Daddy, wake up!" Isadora screamed, running to her dad's body, which was becoming cold. She cried and kept shaking his body in hopes that he would wake up. "Oh little witch, he won't be waking any time soon. I would have loved to make you join him, but I can't, but don't worry, I would make your life with me a living hell," the alpha laughed. "Take the little witch out of here and put her in my courtyard; she will be of use as my slave." Isadora's mom's scream became louder as they took her crying daughter away from her before taking her away to face her own fate. Death. The men did as instructed by their alpha, dropping Isadora in the courtyard and leaving her there. She curled herself into a ball and kept crying her eyes out, not hearing the sounds of footsteps coming closer to her. "Why are you crying?" a little voice innocently asked. She looked up to see a handsome boy standing in front of her, holding a candy bar. "Here, have a lollipop; it will make you feel better. My nanny always gives me one when I am sad and cry so much like you." She peered at the lollipop and continued crying, remembering her parents. Her body froze in shock when the little boy hugged her and began to console her, patting her hair. She sobbed for a long time in his arms before her tears stopped. "Here, have the lollipop," he insisted, handing it to her. She snatched it greedily from his hand because she was hungry and stuck it in her mouth. "My name is Lucas," he lied as he gazed at her stunning beauty from her eyes to her hair. "What's your name?" "Isadora!" she whimpered. "Lucas, Logan, where are you?" a sweet voice called. "I have to go; my nanny is calling, or else I will be in trouble," he said, bolting out of the courtyard. Isadora stared at him as he disappeared along with his shadow. Her heart began to race as she realized her beautiful and perfect life was ruined, but if she had to see Lucas every day, it wouldn't be that horrible. Maybe Lucas would be able to distract her from the pain, she thought to herself before letting darkness envelope her.
