Derek's Reign

Chapter 5

-Derek P.O.V.-

BEFORE MACY RAN INTO THE ROOM FROM BRAD

“Have you heard anything?” I ask my dad while mom sleeps.

He shakes his head no. “No, I haven’t heard from Scar or anybody. Have you?” My dad asks me.

I nod. “Yeah, I got a text and they found out that everyone in the building was cleared which means that someone was working on the outside. I have also sent some of my men to work with Scar, so we should be finding out more. Someone had to have set mom up or someone was watching the house or the road.” I tell my dad with a sigh. Something just doesn’t seem right.

“Maybe. Or maybe someone in the building had something to do with this. They could work in HR since HR has access to everyone’s files. They could alter anything in anyone’s file or maybe someone blackmailed the HR people. We will dig further when your mother is feeling better since she is really the hacker of the family.”  

“You could be right, dad.”

“Yes, your father is right.” My mother ends up adding in which causes me to chuckle.

Soon Macy comes busting in the room which causes mom to jump a bit while I go on high alert. Soon Macys voice causes me to go into protective mode.

“Help me, please.” She sobs out as you could see the fear coming off of her.

I jump up from my seat and I start to walk over to her when some guy comes into the room. “Ah, I found you.” He sneers out which causes Macy to jump and turn around. She starts to walk backwards and ends up running into me which I don’t really care. I wrap an arm around her waist as I hold her against me.

“I would like to know why you are in my mothers’ room and why you are scaring the nurse.” I question the guy.

“Yes, what are you doing in my wife’s room? If you know what is good for you than you will leave before my son handles you.” My dad also questions the guy.

He was no match for me let alone my dad. The guy just looks at Macy while you could see the anger on his face, and he speaks to her. “This is not over.” I almost went after him since he had some balls threatening her with me right behind her, but she stops me. Actually, her sob stops me, I turn her around and pull her into my chest as she just breaks down. She is shaking with fear as she clings onto me. I will find out who that man was, and I’ll make sure that he leaves her alone.

After some time, she calms down, and then she starts to apologize for busting in the room like that. “I am sorry for busting in here like that and having him come in here too.” She says which causes all of us to shake our head.

“I am glad that you came in here.” My mother tells her which my dad agrees.

“I am glad too. Now let me walk you back to your desk to make sure that he is gone.” I tell her to which she nods.

We head out and start walking down to her desk. Once we see that he isn’t there then I take this time to speak with her.

“Who was that guy?” I ask her as she leans in her seat and I lean on the desk/counter.

She sighs deeply before she rests her elbows on the table. “He was an ex who ab**ed me.” She tells me in a small voice.

I clench my jaw and I could feel my body fill with anger as I didn’t like hearing that little piece of s**t had the nerve to touch her. I close my eyes and take a deep breath as I try to calm myself down, but my eyes snapped open when I heard her voice.

-Macy P.O.V.-

I watched as Derek closed his eyes and I could see that he was mad, so I did the only thing that I could think of. I reached my hand out and I touched his hand. He snapped his eyes open and looked at me.

“I am okay now.” I tell him as I keep my hand on his. I don’t know what it is but just touching him is calming my body down. It is almost as if I feel safe with him which is weird.

“I just don’t like hearing how a man put his hands on a woman.” He tells me to which I nod.

I take my head away and he just sighs as he runs his hand through his hair. “Thank you.” I tell him and he turns to face me.

“Anytime. Also, do you have somewhere safe to stay tonight that he wouldn’t know where you are?” He asks me and I was about to respond when I feel my phone go off.

“Hold on, my phone went off.” He just smiles and I take in a deep breath from just his smile. I break out of my trance and pick up my phone. I open it up and read the text.

Unknown number: I know where you are staying. In that hotel and I have also gathered that you know who this is. I told you it isn’t over and I will make you mine again. And if you don’t like that then I can beat you into submission or f**k you into submission. Better look out.

I started to hyperventilate as I read the message over and over again. This cannot be happening. No. No. No. I could feel the tears coming down my face as my whole body started to shake. I am no longer safe. Soon I feel a presence beside me, and it causes me to jump. I drop my phone on the desk as I turn to look at who it is.

“Hey, it is just me. It is just Derek.”

I don’t know what comes over me, but I fling myself into his arms. He catches me as he wraps his arms around me. What the f**k am I gonna do?!

“Hey, calm down. It is okay.” Derek says as he tries to get me to calm down. I shake my head at his words.

“He knows where I am staying so I have nowhere to go. He will find me and get me.” I tell him through my sobs. He pulls back slightly which causes me to freak out. I try to cling onto him more, but I end up letting go when he tells me that he isn’t going anywhere.

“I am not going anywhere; I just want to see your face so I can speak to you.” Once I am sitting down in my chair, he leans back a bit and looks at me. “Can I read the text that was just sent to you or can you tell me what just happened?” He asks me in a calm voice.

I think about it and to be honest, I don’t know if I can just tell him so I think it would be better for him to just read it himself. “You can read it.” I tell him in a small voice.

I watch as he grabs my phone and he starts to read it.
