Sweet Escape was rather a bitter experience than sweet for Nigella every single time she stepped into the restaurant.
Her workplace had always been kind of a drag for her, something that she had to do because she wasn't a graduate yet and no one would take her in a good company even as an intern. And besides, interns didn't get paid as much as she made while being a waitress.
New York City had a very good number of waitresses to begin with, it was equally proportioned to the large number of low and high end restaurants and Nigella had joined them in the mass as soon her savings were over.
She had options to look further into the field and get a better place to work at but she lacked time and the restaurant paid well enough so she had stuck around.
