The Day Before

{Asher’s POV} I walked into the Alpha’s study looking for my brother, he was always up so early and already in the office going through papers. I saw him sitting at the desk, his short brown hair wavy in front of his eyes. He’d been running his hands through it again. The pack elders have been pressuring us to take on a chosen mate, or even mates for the past few years but we’ve been able to hold them off on it. They’ve really come down on us in the past few months though, and my brother has been sitting through candidates. “You know brother, we don’t have to take a mate.” I said flopping down in the chair in front of him. “The pack elders will get over it.” I said grabbing a folder and opening it seeing distinguished, entitled Luna candidates. They all look so awful, cruel, bratty, I couldn’t stand it. I took the folder in my hand and tossed it in the fire place. “Why don’t you come with me to the Red Moon Pack? They’re having their Alpha ceremony, remember?” I asked him watching the pages burn. “You know I despise parties.” He grumbled under his breathe, his deep voice resonating in his chest. “Come on brother, lighten up a little, we’re the Alpha’s, not the elders. We decide when to marry, or if we take on a mate at all!” I said placing my hands gently on the table. “Come with me?” I asked once more. “No Asher, I can’t stand the idea of seeing that brat become Alpha, I always hated that pack anyways. The way they treat their pack members is disgusting!” He yelled standing from his desk. “Just call me if anything happens, and take one of the beta’s!” He said sitting back down and motioning me out of the room. I sighed heavily and walked to the door. “Fine, but you’ll be sorry!” I said and walked out, I made my way down the hall towards the beta quarters and knocked on the door. “Felix, you decent?” I asked. “Sh**!” I hear through the door, along with some clattering of items hitting the floor before Felix’s body finally emerges. He’s slightly shorter than my brother and I, and slightly less bulky. His eyes are brown, and his hair a sandy blonde. He stepped out the door in his boxers, he’s an i***t but him and his older brother Lukas are among the strongest members in our pack. I looked around and could see a random she wolf asleep in his bed. “Again?” I asked laughing under my breath. “Your mate is going to be pis***!” I laughed out as he closed the door behind him as he stepped out into the hallway. “I’m about to go pack my stuff to head to Red Moon Pack, I need you to come with me, so get your things ready!” I said looking down the hall as Lukas walked up. “I’m guessing my brother wants you to stay here?” I asked him as he made his way to us. “Your brother never lets me leave!” He laughed out as he walked past us and to my brothers office. He closed the door behind him and I went back to my conversation with Felix. “Be ready in about an hour and we’ll be leaving.” I said walking back towards my room, and beginning to pack. Pretty soon I heard Felix in my head, “Think there’ll be any hot she wolves there?” He asked. “I’m sure you’ll find someone Felix!” I answered back. “You always do!” I laughed finishing packing my bag and zipping it up. We should only be gone for the weekend but I packed plenty of clothes. Felix and my brother were just alike, they both slept with whoever they could, whenever they could. I never really cared for that, I’d rather save myself for my mate. I knew that once I met her, I’ll be glad that I saved myself for her. “I’m ready when you are!” I called to Felix in my head. “I’m ready!” Felix answered back. “I guess I’ll go ahead and get them to pull the car around.” He finished and closed out the mindlink. “Brother, are you sure you don’t want to go?” I asked through mindlink. “Yes I’m sure, I’ve got some paperwork to catch up on anyways. Just let me know when you make it there safely.” He answered back. “Okay, I’ll be sure to let you know. See you soon brother!” I said closing out the mindlink and heading to the packhouse main entrance. I quickly put my suitcase away and got into the car next to Felix. “Well, let’s get going! It’s a long drive, and we have to see a bunch of people that none of us want to.” I said to the driver. He chuckled along with Felix and we began our drive. {Winter’s POV} I got dinner ready and brought it all out to the alpha table and quickly returned to the kitchen cleaning up the dishes I dirtied making dinner. I finished up, and ran as fast as I could back to my room shutting and locking it. I couldn’t stand this place. “Just one more day! Tomorrow night I’ll be free of this place! I can manage for just one more day!” I reminded myself. I looked at my broken form in the mirror, my eyes black and blue, my nose swollen and bruised, my lip split down the middle, not to mention my ribs. I can’t believe she beat me this bad the day before the ceremony, knowing that I’d have to be one of the cooks and servers tomorrow. I hated that witch, and I couldn’t wait to watch this place burn down after they take over.
