Allerick’s POV
“Where did you find them, Jacob?” I asked my beta, after escaping from the enchanting depth of the eyes of the mysterious slave.
Her naked body still gripped my mind as I stood there talking to my men. I have seen all kinds of bodies, but I could not just get my mind off hers. My body suddenly wanted release.
“Just roaming around the palace wall, Alpha king. They must have had a really lousy way of planning to attack us” He said, cutting into my torturous thoughts.
Moving over to my side, Jacob pointed out the exact places where they were spotted. Though he was just a few inches shy of my six foot seven, he was a sturdy man and could hold his own any day
“I can still feel and smell them, and I believe they don't know that they have been caught yet. And left to me, I would have handled the ten of them if you didn't give me the stern instructions to report to you on any intruding” He shrugged grudgingly.
“I am sure I don't need to remind you of the last time you went over your head and decided not to mention to me about the last invaders” I cautioned. He had been wounded badly and I almost lost my Beta and only trusted friend.
Jacob was the definition of a true genius, I have never had anyone who solves problems as fast as he does. His ability to think out of the box from within the box always provides him with an upper hand. Even though he is still young in age and he is not into any of what his peers would call fun, I believe he fits my personality more than anyone I have met.
He was not strong when I became the Alpha king years ago. In fact, I never thought he would survive a day as my beta, but the way his brain works still astonishes me. He has gradually become an invaluable asset to me.
“I know Alpha King. It is only because I want to prove that I am better at fighting now. I guess I must have miscalculated back then” He laughed sheepishly
“And that's why that instruction was put in place,” I said, ignoring his excuse
I moved my gaze off him and put it on the guards standing by in wait for my instructions.
“Jacob, Dale, Issac, come with me, while the rest of you stay back, stay alert. We have to move as quietly as possible, they must not know that we are onto them” I said, and moved into action, leading them and knowing that they would follow me.
Their loyalty was unquestionable.
“Yes Alpha,” They said in unison and everyone went to their positions.

Something didn't feel right, I could feel it to my bones as we came out of the walls of protection of my pack. I looked over at Jacob, hoping that he felt it too, but he was already looking at me.
Alpha, I think I have miscalculated again, the intruders are more than ten, now that we are close to them, I think they are more than forty and we are only four.
My heart skipped a bit, it felt strange, my heart has never reacted like that to an ambush before. Her glasslike face structured itself into my mind. Thinking that I might not be able to see her again created an unexplainable fear in my heart. Which was very funny. Nothing has ever caught me off guard.
Why? Why? Why does she hold so much power over me? I wanted to know. I need to find out from that witch. And to do that, I have to make sure this battle ends as quietly as possible, with me and my guards getting to the end of it.
You have been doing a lot of that lately, Jacob. Now focus, we have forty of these bastards to kill. I mind linked with the rest of the team and just like they got the point and we all moved into action in one accord.
We had the advantage of attacking them unawares but that was all we needed. We were able to make our way through the groups leaving a string of dead bodies.
Taking on two at a time, I was eager to get it over with as both of them seemed to have a plan for their attack on me. Though it didn't bother me I couldn't help but ask them questions.
"Who sent you and what are you here for?" I asked. One of them spat at me while the other snarled.
"Oh well since you both seem to have misplaced your tongues let us try a different approach," I said as I avoided an incoming blow landing a crushing head booth on my attacker. This left him sprawling on the ground beneath me while immediately his second charged with bared teeth.
I picked up his colleague and used him as a shield for the incoming bite which I believe successfully evaded that attack but only to be taken back by a bite to my side.
A third attacker had been behind me and I had not sensed him quickly enough. His teeth sunk deep into my flesh but it wasn't over, the other attacker launched a new attack but I quickly overturned and snapped the neck of the i***t who seemed to have been stuck permanently in my side.
Pathetic idiots.
I now fully faced the last one and tore him into pieces with the fresh fire in my bones.
The fight wasn’t as simple as I convinced myself it would be, in fact, two of them were able to land blows that left a deep scar on my side. But it didn’t matter, what mattered was the fact that all forty of them were dead and whoever sent them would never try the stupid game again.
Allerik! You are bleeding! I heard Jacob slashing into my thoughts again.
I didn’t notice the tingling feeling of hurt and the pain that surged through me or even the blood that was now drenching my shirt.
It will heal soon enough. . . I began to say, but it was not the wound or the blood. It was something else. Something was in my system that didn't belong there.
“Poison!” I heard Jacob say before I collapsed on the hard floor.
. . . . . . . . . . .
Rosie’s POV
I checked the clock on the bed side table for the tenth time that morning, it read 10 am. I began to worry and pace around the room that had somehow become very familiar to me.
“He should be here by now” I murmured to myself.
Shouldn’t you be grateful he has let you be, Rosie? Lily questioned and I knew for a fact that she was right.
I should want him to never bother about me and even go about his business without caring whether I existed or not. But his absence bothered me.
I was getting too impatient, not because of the plans we had and definitely not because I wanted to see him again. But because. . . I don’t know . . . Why was I bothered?
I tried to tell myself that it was because he brought me here and it was only because I had to see him to feel familiar and safe. But I know deep down it was not that. It was something more disgraceful.
I moved closer to the door that separated his room and mine, no real sound was coming from there, not even a sound that would indicate a presence.
Did he change his mind about me working for him? Or did he simply not want to see me after what I tried to do yesterday night? Because I shamelessly offered myself to him?
Did he finally decide to let me go? But where would I go from here? I can’t possibly go back to my pack like this.
Rosie! You are thinking too far, the beast is simply just sleeping. Lily cautioned.
I wanted to ignore her again because she was not helping but I could not help it. We both know he is not relaxing somewhere while giving up the opportunity to make me miserable.
If you know he would make you miserable when you see him, why then are you looking for him, Rosie?
I don’t know, Lily. I snapped back.
Just then, the door opened without knocking, and I almost jumped from where I stood, partially because I was unaware but mostly because I was excited about who it was.
“Your food” It was Ruth who came in, placing the tray of delicious-looking food on the table in the room. Definitely not a bit interested in my jumpy attitude. And it was obvious that she would want anything more than to be in my room serving me food.
But I know no one else would serve my food or attend to my business while I am there , because the alpha king had given her the job in particular, whether because I am now his property and he can do whatever he wants with me or it’s just because he has trust issues and wants to keep me in place.
“Thank you,” I murmured,
"But, don’t you think you should knock before you enter into my privacy,” I asked her, as calmly as I could. But it was more of a statement than a question. She only nodded, which was somehow fine by me.
I wanted to get out of the room, I wanted to explore the palace but I could not bring myself to ask for permission, something else was on Ruth’s mind. Something else bothered her.
“Do you know where the alpha king is. . . ?” I started to say but she was way out of the room. I guess I have to find him myself.
I moved close to the connecting door and leaned my ears to know if I could hear something, anything that indicates if there was life inside.
Or he could be attending to an important matter, but I still wanted to check to be sure.
I don’t know anything important about how their pack runs yet and if the king was not in his room, I would just look around.
I opened the door, as slowly as I could and moved the curtains away from my face for better access.
But there he was, concealed in the darkness which enveloped the room, in all his beautiful glory, his eyes glowing and staring deep into my eyes, as if he had been expecting me.
I stood there, unable to move , no one talked for what seemed like a full long minute.
“What are you doing in here?” Ruth growled at me, slashing through my thinking! That was when I noticed her sitting next to the alpha king on his bed, with a towel in her hand and what seemed like a load of handkerchiefs soaked with blood.
