Chapter 7:

The night seemed to fly by as everyone wanted to speak with us. Sapphire followed Leonard and I followed Jared. 

Jared held my hand the whole night and once the pack started dispersing for the night The King and Queen approached us. (I was not calling them my parents, they didn't deserve that title.)

"Alpha Jared." The King said, drawing our attention.

"King Jasper, Queen Destiny." He said bowing his head with respect.

"Would you mind letting us use your office to speak with our daughters?" The King said smiling at me.

I buried my face in Jareds chest, not trusting the anger that filled me with that smile. Almost like he was challenging me.

"Of course. I will summon Leo and Sapphire there." Jared said wrapping his arm around me pulling me along as I felt him create a mindlink between the four of us.

"The King and Queen request to see both girls in my office. Meet us there."

"We are on our way." Leo said through the link. 

Jared closed the link holding me close as he led us inside and up the stairs to the third floor down several hallways and into his office which is where Sapphire and I had first met him.

Jared led me to one of the couches in the room and sat down pulling me into his lap.

The King and Queen sat across from us on the other couch. After an awkward few minutes there was a knock on the door.

"Come in." Jared called.

Leonard and Sapphire walked in and taking the que from Jared he sat down next to us and pulled Sapphire into his lap.

The King cleared his throat and against my better judgment I turned with Sapphire to look at them.

"I just want to say it's wonderful to see you both up close and personal. It has been too long. I understand it will take some time and work to get us to where we need to be, but your mother and I are willing to do whatever it is you need, for you both to be comfortable with us."

"How about you go back to being dead?" I started harshly.

"Emerald!" Sapphire gasped looking at me. "You can't mean that!"

"I understand you are Angry with us Emerald but we did what was best for the safety of you and your sister."

I laughed harshly and Jared squeezed me in warning. "You have no clue what would be best for either of us seeing as neither of you know us!" I snapped my hands curling into fists. "Can you tell me what show we used to always watch when we were five? How about the names of our best friends when we were ten? What about the movies we like at sixteen? No an even easier one do you even know our nicknames?" It was becoming hard to breathe as my anger took over. Suddenly Jared pulled me down to him and kissed me full on the lips. I fought him for a moment before the fight dropped out of me and I kissed him back. He spoke in my head as he kissed me.

"Emerald don't let your anger beat you. You can have a civil conversation with them without attacking them!"

I huffed a sigh at him and pulled back to look in his eyes answering the mindlink.

"I don't want to be civil with them! Why should I when they abandoned me and Sapphire all those years ago?"

"Because Emerald they are your parents first and foremost but they are also the King and Queen. If you don't want them to lock you in a dungeon then stop and I will let you beat the s**t out of a punching bag later, to get your anger out okay? Just breathe!"

The sound of a throat clearing brought us back to the room. 

I huffed at Jared but I could see in his eyes he meant every word. I laid my head on his chest and breathed in his scent.

"I know you feel wronged Emerald, but the fact of the matter is that's what was best at the time. Give us a chance to make up for the lost time and shape you both into the leaders you were destined to be!"

I closed my eyes fighting my anger when Sapphire spoke softly from beside me. "We can give you that chance, me and Em-Emerald we can try at least." She stuttered over my name because she was going to use my nickname but thought better of it and said my whole name.

"Speak for yourself." I grumbled softly and Jared squeezed me again in warning. "Sorry I just don't see the point." I grumbled softly and Jared sighed and mindlinked me.

"Emerald we are Werewolves with super sonic hearing if you wanna say stuff like that use the mindlink! Don't push them to punish you!" His voice sounded annoyed and worried at the same time.

I sighed angrily and answered back. "Fine!" Before turning to The King and Queen. "Fine we will give you a chance but that's only because Sapphire wants to." I said. My anger was still bubbling just below the surface of my skin, so I was finding it hard to have sympathy for them.

"That's all that we ask." The King says nodding his head.

"Do you girls want to go shopping with us tomorrow? We can buy you anything your heart desires." The Queen asks looking between Sapphire and me.

"I think we are good thanks! Jared and Leo got us everything we could possibly need just the other day." I said with a huge fake smile. "We could always go out to the movies and dinner but that would be up to Sapphire." I knew I had to try and play nice with them. I turned to Sapphire with my fake smile still etched on my face. "What do you say sister? Wanna go to the movies and dinner with good old Ma and Pa tomorrow?"

Sapphire looked at me with wide eyes and nodded her head clearing her throat. "Uhm yeah we could do that."

"Then we shall see you in the morning." The King nodded his head and stood walking over and kissing mine then Sapphires cheeks as the Queen followed suit and did the same before they walked out of the room closing the door behind them.

Sapphire sagged into Leo. "Why was that so tense?" She asked softly.

I looked at Jared. "You're keeping your promise right? I need to beat the crap out of that punching bag as soon as possible." Jared nodded and stood with me in his arms. 

As we walked down to the first floor I noticed Leo and Sapphire were following us. Jared carried me all the way to a gym like room that had all kinds of workout equipment. He led me over to a punching bag and set me on my feet in front of it before he walked around the bag and held onto it.

"Okay Emerald show us what you got." He said with a smile.

After about an hour and having to change the bag three times due to it bursting open from the force of my fists, I finally felt my anger dwindle. I slowed in how fast and hard I was punching the bag. My knuckles were red from the abuse I had just put them through.

"Do you feel better?" Jared asks, letting go of the bag and walking over to me taking my hands checking my knuckles but the redness was already fading.

"I suppose I feel better." I sighed.

"Remind me not to piss you off. You pack a serious punch." Jared said, teasingly winking at me. 

I blushed and looked down at my feet. "I used to beat up our bullies." I said with a shrug. "With Saph looking just like me they didn't want to risk it seeing as it was a fifty fifty shot it could be me." 

Sapphire laughed at the memory. "Do you remember when d**k Thomas thought you were me?" She asked, chuckling.

"Yeah the prick had a broken nose, black eye, and messed up jaw for the remainder of the year. The month of detention was worth it, to see his face when he realised he messed up when I swung on him was priceless." I chuckled softly, shaking my head. "That's what he gets! Nobody calls my sister a b***h but me!"

Sapphire laughed bending over as tears rolled down her face from laughing so hard. "Oh my god do you remember Uncle Tim's reaction when the office called him in?"

I laughed and shook my head. "I still say it wasn't fair he made me do the dishes and cooking for the whole month that I was also serving detention. He should have understood your the soft one I'm the b***h with a back bone!" I said smirking at Sapphire who fell to the floor laughing.

"Oh God that burnt pizza though! I can't believe he made us eat it anyways as punishment!" 

I laughed softly. "Yeah at least I got better by the end of the month we went from eating burnt nasty food to delicious store bought cuisine!" I said with a smirk.

Sapphire rolled with laughter. "God I wonder if he ever caught on that you bought the dinners. If he did, he didn't say anything!"

I chuckled. "I made sure to mess up some pans to make it look like I cooked." I said shrugging.

Sapphire sat up looking at me. "Oh God he had to have known I mean how could you go from burning everything to making superb dinners and on top of it he's a werewolf he had to smell that it came from a store I mean the smells of the cooking foods should have filled the house!"

I laughed and shrugged. "Oh well I made dinner didn't I? Besides, I was sixteen! If he wanted me to actually make the food myself he should have made it clear not just saying dinner was my responsibility!"

Sapphire laughed, slapping her knee. "Gurl you put him through the ringer!"

"So? Not like he's our actual Uncle anyways." I said softly which sobered Sapphire up.

She sighed and stood up walking over to me. "That makes it so much worse." She says. "He had to put up with you always being in trouble because our parents made him not because he wanted to."

I shrugged. "Oh well I didn't know that then even if I did I probably wouldn't have changed. I ain't letting nobody push you around Saph nobody will hurt you or they go through me!"

Sapphire sighed and wrapped her arms around me and hugged me tightly. "I love you Em!"

"I love you to Saph!" I say softly rubbing her back as I hugged her.

"Are you girls hungry?" Jared asks, breaking up our moment.

I released Sapphire and blushed looking at my feet.

"I am!" Sapphire says and takes my hand. "Come on Em You have got to be hungry after that workout you just put your body through."

I sighed and followed them holding Sapphire's hand. We went to the kitchen to find hot roast beef sandwiches waiting for us.

I sat on a stool between Sapphire and Jared and slowly ate my food not saying anything while the three of them chatted softly. When I was done with my sandwich I felt all the pain in my body and slumped forward resting my arms on the counter placing my head on my arms. I must have dozed off because I woke up when Jared picked me up into his arms and carried me upstairs. I fell back asleep before we even made it to the stairs.
