“Alex, wait!” The sound of the front door slamming behind Nora echoed outside. Alex stormed off down the street with clenched fists. He let Kai go to be with Cal, knowing—hoping—the fucker would keep her safe. He managed to let her get hurt. Again.
Seemed his wolf was even upset about it, but is much less tolerable than the man, himself.
He had hoped Kai was happy, and by the look of that fresh mark on her, maybe she was. She wasn’t always easy to read, anyway.
“Alex, stop, please!”
Alex halted, waiting for Nora to catch up. When she stopped in front of him with her hands up, he noticed the hound wasn’t on her tail. “Where’s that devil beast?”
“He’s…chasing the lycan. He’s just going to make sure he doesn’t come back. Phoenix will find his way back to me.”
