Alpha Callum was back in Alpha Bruce's mansion, just in time before the wedding ceremony began.
"Alpha, the wedding will take place in twenty minutes," Beta Amir said, preparing the black formal suit Alpha would wear on the special occasion.
"I'm no longer interested in attending the wedding," Alpha Callum replied, looking pensive.
"Is it because you already met her?" Beta Amir asked.
"Yeah. I didn't expect I would discover something wonderful today," Alpha Callum smiled. Thinking about his son filled his heart with happiness.
"Alpha, how is she?" Beta Amir inquired.
"Her condition is serious with the poisoning and all that, but Grandpa's antidote is effective. She will recover soon," he added confidently.
"Hopefully so," Beta Amir said, placing the suit on the bed.
"During the wedding ceremony, blend with the crowd and investigate if they have already found out about her disappearance. If they already know, we will leave this place immediately," Alpha Callum said, his tone alert.
"Copy, Alpha," Beta Amir replied, donning his black coat.
"If you are done, you should leave now. Let's continue talking in our mind link. If you discover something out of the ordinary tonight, report to me at once," Alpha Callum ordered.
"Copy, Alpha." Beta Amir walked to the door and exited.
Alpha Callum stripped his clothes and put on a black formal suit in front of the life-size mirror. He didn't bring his wife Luna Viviana to the occasion tonight because she was infected with a nasty flu and was recovering at home.
Although he didn't want to attend the wedding, he had to foster friendship with all the pack leaders to establish his serious intention as the rogue pack's supreme leader. Before he becomes the pack leader of the Savage Howl Pack, chaos prevails throughout the land.
In the past, rogues attacked peaceful packs, killed everyone brutally and plundered the victims' belongings. Tired of senseless killings, he meticulously planned his moves by joining a powerful rogue pack, working his way up the ladder and becoming their leader. He successfully united all the rogue packs under his command, creating the most powerful rogue pack in the entire East District.
Peace was finally achieved and rogue packs no longer attack and m******e other packs.
It was a goal he thought was impossible to achieve at first. But when he left all fears and doubts behind and faced the danger bravely, things became easier for him.
Driven by a goal to end the merciless slaughter of the innocent, he managed to end the brutal killings and earn the respect and admiration of all pack leaders who are now friendly towards him.
His musing was broken by a soft knock on the door.
"Alpha, the ceremony is about to begin," said one of his men stationed outside the door.
"OK," Alpha Callum replied.
He looked at his reflection in the mirror one last time. Satisfied with his appearance, he walked to the door and left the room.
Alpha Callum was taken to the front of the mansion where the attendees were already sitting comfortably in their seats to witness the wedding.
The minister who would officiate the wedding stood in the center, waiting for the couple to take their place. Alpha Bruce arrived and stood beside the minister.
The atmosphere turned silent and solemn.
The wedding march began and the bride in her dazzling white wedding dress walked towards the podium. All eyes are on her. Alpha Bruce and the minister were waiting for the bride to take her place, so the wedding ceremony could start.
A few moments later.
Beta Amir established a mind link. "Alpha, I began my investigation around the house. I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. Everyone was busy with the wedding. But I saw two guys holding shovels in their hands, walking in the direction of the woods. I'm curious about their strange actions, so I followed them."
"And what did you find?" Alpha Callum asked. His brows snapped together.
"They arrived at this small cemetery, and there is already a grave being dug there as if a burial is about to take place. I wonder who they are going to bury there? So I hid behind the overgrown bushes and continued observing them," Beta Amir explained.
"So the men are still digging now?" Alpha Callum asked.
"Yup. But I think they will stop now because the grave is deep enough for burial," Beta Amir replied.
"Okay, keep spying and keep me updated," Alpha Callum said and focused his attention on the wedding ceremony unfolding in front of him.
Beta Amir established the mind link again. "Alpha, a car arrived just now and delivered a black coffin."
"Can you see who is inside the coffin?" he asked.
"No. I'm far away. I can't see who's inside the coffin because the lid is shut off and the men are lowering the coffin into the ground," Beta Amir said.
"Interesting," Alpha Callum muses. A wedding and a burial take place at the same time. What a night!
"I will crawl closer to the grave, so I can hear their conversation," Beta Amir said.
"Be careful. We can't afford to ruin the night. We came here for peace, not to create trouble." Alpha Callum warned his beta.
"Copy, Alpha," Beta Amir said and disconnected the mind link.
Alpha Callum shifted his attention to the wedding ceremony that was about to end.
A few moments later, Beta Amir established the mind link again. "Alpha, the men are talking about Luna Clarice. She was the one in the coffin and was buried tonight," he said.
"Oh, I kinda expected that already. Did they open the casket?" Alpha Callum asked.
"No. Because they're afraid they will be infected with her contagious disease, so they quickly cover the coffin with soil. Right now they are putting flowers on top of the grave and placing her tombstone as well," Beta Amir explained.
"Wow. A wedding and funeral happen at the same time. But we both know the dead is not dead yet. Alright, keep me updated," Alpha Callum said and disconnected the mind link as he needed to greet the newlyweds. He rose to his feet and stood in a queue behind other well-wishers.
After a long wait, his turn finally came. "Congratulations on your wedding, Alpha Bruce and Luna Aurelia. May your union be filled with love and laughter," he said, his tone sincere, eyes gleaming.
"Thank you for coming, Alpha Callum," Luna Aurelia smiled brightly. Her eyes shone with happiness.
The two Alphas smiled at each other and engaged in a friendly handshake.
"Thank you, Alpha Callum, for attending our wedding." Alpha Bruce smiled. "Please enjoy the food and drinks."
"I will. Thank you," Alpha Callum replied cheerily. He quickly left the queue to give others the chance to greet the newlyweds.
Alpha Callum proceeded to the buffet table and put some food on his plate. He might as well enjoy the delicious food and drink to his heart's desire before going home.
Hmm, which home will he be going home to later after the event is over? Back home to his mansion to be with his wife or back in the farmhouse to watch over Clarice, his fated mate?
While chewing a piece of savory beef steak in his mouth, he continues to ponder which home he should go home to tonight.
