Junie was mortified by what she’d seen. Seeing her mother wavering, she sprang from a mosaic park bench and sprinted toward her. When she reached her, she swept her arm around her, and her mother nearly collapsed against her. “Mom, I’m here. Oh, my gosh, I saw what happened.” Junie wanted to scream at her father, but her mother needed her now. “We have to get out of here.” Pressing a hand to her stomach, April added, “You should drive.” “Okay.
