Everleigh
They took me inside a warehouse and forced me to drink some kind of fluid. I felt dizzy right after, my eyelids felt heavy and I collapsed. Soon, I was out cold.
The next time I woke up, I heard the sound of someone crying. I opened my eyes and then closed them immediately as the bright light stung my pupils. I took a deep breath and opened them again.
The first thing I saw were girls: four or five of them huddled on the floor, sobbing incessantly. They all looked about my age, maybe younger. All of them are beautiful. Some of them lay there with a dazed look on their face as if they were on drugs.
"Where are we?" I asked, but I was greeted with silence and more quiet sobbing.
The door suddenly opened, and a man with blond hair came in. I didn't recognize him as he wasn't one of the men who took me. He looked around the room as if to assess the situation.
"You must be all confused. Don't worry. Everything will be clear after I explain," he grinned. He had a thick accent, but I couldn't pinpoint where it was from. He kind of sounded Russian, I thought.
"You are all probably wondering why you are here," he said but no one spoke.
"Well, you are here because you are the property of the Crimson Serpents now."
My heart sank as the man's words sank in.
The Crimson Serpents. I had heard rumors about them, a notorious criminal organization involved in human trafficking and other illegal activities.
I looked around at the other girls, their eyes filled with fear and despair. They were just like me, victims of a cruel fate, robbed of their freedom and dignity. I couldn't let myself succumb to the hopelessness that hung in the air.
"What do you want from us?" I mustered the courage to speak, my voice quivering but laced with defiance.
The man chuckled. "What we want is simple. You belong to the Mafia now, so you will do what the boss says. If you defy him or his sons, you will be killed. Your primary purpose will be as...entertainers," the man paused. Then continued again.
"My name is Rod, and I'm in charge of this group of women. We usually train the women for weeks, but today is a special day," Rod said.
"What do you mean by special day?" I asked. I needed to know exactly what kind of situation I was dealing with. And for that, I needed to stay level-headed.
Rod eyed me with interest, his blue eyes glimmering with intent. "Our boss has two sons, and today is their birthday."
The mention of a birthday piqued my curiosity, but I remained cautious. I knew that any seemingly innocent event within the Crimson Serpents' realm could hold a darker purpose.
"What does their birthday have to do with us?" I asked, trying to gauge Rod's reaction and gather as much information as possible.
Rod's grin widened, revealing a row of gleaming teeth. "Our boss likes to spoil his sons. So he decided to give each of them a girl so they can indulge in their darkest desires tonight."
My heart sank as I realized what was going to happen.
I took a deep breath, steadying myself. Despite the fear and disgust bubbling inside me, I knew that maintaining a composed facade was necessary. I had to survive this so I could avenge Liz's death.
"And what happens to those who refuse to participate in your sick game?" I asked, my voice steady despite the rising anger within me.
Rod's gaze hardened, his amusement fading slightly. "Those who resist face severe consequences. The boss does not tolerate disobedience. But if you cooperate, he might show some leniency."
I nodded, absorbing the information while silently vowing to resist in whatever way I could.
Rod left the room, leaving us alone for a while. The room fell into silence, broken only by the muffled sobs of the girls.
"I wanna go home," a young girl sobbed. She didn't look a day older than sixteen or seventeen.
"We all do," another girl snarled at her.
I walked over to the girl and patted her head. "Try to stay calm, sweetheart. We will get through this." My voice quivered as I didn't believe those words myself.
Suddenly the door opened and two dark-haired women and the blond man named Rod entered the room.
"Stacy and Dion will get you all dolled up for the boss's sons," Rod said.
Oh, I can't wait, I thought sarcastically.
"You kidnapped us!" a woman with long black hair exclaimed. "I didn't agree to this!"
Rod didn't say anything for a while, then calmly walked over to the black-haired girl. He suddenly grabbed her hair and then punched her in the stomach. She yelped in pain, her eyes almost rolling at the back of her head. Rod released her.
The girl lay on the ground in a fetal position, holding her stomach and crying in pain.
"Anyone else has any objections?" Rod roared. He kicked the girl on the ground.
No one said anything. I learned quickly not to open my mouth when I saw them kill my sister.
"I will go outside and wait for the boss. All of you better behave," Rod said and walked out.
The two women silently opened their bags and took some makeup out.
I let Stacy put makeup on me and looked in the mirror.
"Wow, you're a real beauty, aren't ya? I love those red curls," she said and smiled.
I said nothing.
"Good girl," Stacy said after finishing up. She handed me a dress. "Hurry up and get dressed. We don't have a lot of time."
I took a moment to gather myself, pushing down the fear and anger that threatened to overwhelm me. I knew that complying with their demands for now was our best chance at survival and finding a way to escape this nightmare.
With trembling hands, I took the dress and quickly changed into it, trying to suppress the unease that crept up my spine. The fabric clung to my body. It was white and lacy and left little to the imagination.
As I glanced around the room, I noticed the other girls doing the same—adjusting their outfits, applying makeup, and preparing themselves for the horrors that awaited us.
Stacy approached me again, a glimmer of empathy in her eyes. "I know this is difficult, but you have to play along for now," she whispered.
Yeah, no s**t.
Taking a deep breath, I nodded at Stacy.
Suddenly the door opened again and Rod walked back in. "They are here," he announced. "Line up the girls."
