Everleigh "Let go of me!" Liz cried out as a burly man proceeded to grab her. "Don't touch me!" "It looks like this one is going to be a problem, Boss," he said. Liz's cries filled the air, her voice filled with defiance and desperation. I watched helplessly as the burly man tightened his grip on her, ignoring her pleas. The man in charge cast a cold, calculating gaze on Liz, he looked annoyed. He took a few steps closer to her, his presence commanding and intimidating. "Problem or not, she will learn her place," he responded with a chillingly calm voice. "Take her to the van. We'll deal with her later." My heart raced with fear. I couldn't let them take Liz away without a fight. With a surge of adrenaline, I stepped forward, my voice quivering, but I kept my composure. "Please, don't take her," I pleaded, my voice trembling. "We'll do whatever you want. Just let her go." The man's gaze shifted to me, his eyebrows raised in mild surprise. He considered my words for a moment, the silence hanging heavy in the room. Finally, he let out a low, humorless chuckle. "You're willing to cooperate? How intriguing," he mused, his tone laced with a twisted sense of satisfaction. "Very well. If you're both willing to be obedient, we may have a use for you." "No, Eve! Don't just agree with him! They are murderers. I am not going anywhere with them!" Liz squealed. "Liz, please," I whispered, my voice filled with caution. "We have to play along for now. We'll find a way out of this, I promise." "Listen to your sister, Liz. She seems smart," the man mocked. Liz glared at the man, her defiance still burning strong within her. "I'm not playing along with any of this," she spat, her voice dripping with anger and determination. "You can do whatever you want, but I won't be your puppet." The man's smirk wavered for a moment, his eyes narrowing as he assessed Liz. "You think you're tough, don't you?" he sneered. "We'll see how long that lasts." Without warning, the man raised his hand and delivered a sharp, stinging slap across Liz's face. The force of the blow sent her stumbling backward, her cheek reddening with the impact. Anger surged within me, but I knew I had to keep my composure. I couldn't let my emotions get the best of me in this dangerous situation. I stepped forward, placing myself between the man and Liz, my voice steady but filled with underlying determination. "We'll cooperate," I said. "Please don't hurt her again." "Fine," he said. "But remember, I'm in control here. Don't test my patience." They shoved us inside the van and started driving away from the neighborhood. The van jolted into motion, and Liz and I found ourselves thrown against the hard metal walls. The windows were covered, so we couldn't see the street outside. I reached out to steady myself, gripping a handle near the door. The sound of the engine roared in my ears, drowning out any chance of conversation. The air inside the van felt heavy with tension, and I exchanged a worried glance with Liz, our silent communication speaking volumes. Time seemed to stretch forever. We had no idea where they were taking us and what would happen to us. Thoughts raced through my mind, searching for any glimmer of hope, any plan that could lead us to escape this nightmare. The van halted to a stop, and I heard footsteps. Liz's eyes widened, and I knew what she was planning to do. "Liz, don't..." I didn't get to finish as Liz lunged towards the rear door of the van, throwing her entire body on it. The door burst open, and she got out. Liz's bold move caught everyone off guard, including the men who were approaching us. The sudden opening of the van door created a brief moment of chaos as the surprised captors scrambled to react. "Liz!" I shouted, a mix of fear and hope coursing through my veins. My sister had taken a daring leap, seizing the opportunity for escape. "Liz!" I shouted, a mix of fear and hope coursing through my veins. My sister had taken a daring leap, seizing the opportunity for escape. "Stop her!" the group leader shouted, pulling out a gun. Panic surged through me. I've seen him killing Victor, so this man wasn't above killing someone else. "No! Don't shoot her!" I cried out. I froze in horror as the man's finger tightened on the trigger. Time seemed to slow down, each moment stretching out agonizingly as I helplessly watched the scene unfold before me. The deafening sound of the gunshot shattered the air, echoing through the surroundings. A surge of disbelief and anguish washed over me as Liz's body fell to the ground. No. It can't be. "Li-Liz?" I sobbed. "Told you not to fight back," the man commented as I slowly approached her. Tears streamed down my face as I fell to my knees beside Liz, my hands trembling as I reached out to her lifeless form. Her presence, her laughter, her spirit—gone in an instant, all because she fought back. "No, it can't be. Liz, wake up!" I sobbed and shook her body. "She is dead," the man said behind me. I turned my tear-stained face to the man, my grief transforming into a mixture of fury and despair. The pain of losing Liz was overwhelming, but I refused to let it consume me entirely. "Why? Why did you do this?" I demanded, my voice quivering with a combination of anguish and anger. The man's cold, callous expression remained unchanged as he shrugged dismissively. "She was a liability. And she shouldn't have ran." His words struck me like a dagger to the heart. Liz, my brave and spirited sister, was reduced to nothing more than a corpse. I clenched my fists, my knuckles turning white, as a fire ignited inside me. "You won't get away with this," I seethed, my voice trembling. "I will make sure you are punished." The man laughed, a sound devoid of any remorse or humanity. "Good luck with that, little girl. You're in our world now, and you're just a pawn in our game." At that moment, I made a silent vow to myself. I would honor Liz's memory by surviving, and I will take revenge.
