It’s dusk by the time I get to Millie’s house. Even before I raise my hand to knock, the door flies open. “Jo! So good to see you!” The petite woman embraces me in such a motherly hug.
“Sorry it took longer to get here Millie. I just moved and it’s a lot further from the airport.”
She ushers me inside to sit on her floral print sofa. “I didn’t know you planned to move.”
I hesitate to answer her. “I didn’t, I met my mate. Alpha from the Cedrus pack.” She can see that I’m more than less enthused to talk about my situation.
“He’s nothing like—”
“No… he isn’t or I wouldn’t be there. Our circumstances aren’t the best, but he’s good to his people. He just needs to think before he acts is all,” I breathe out on a long exhale.
