WHEN we got to the car, Phoebe was sitting in the front passenger seat while watching a video on her phone. Joshua opened the door and asked her to move to the backseat of the car.
Phoebe reluctantly moved to the backseat without saying anything. She gave me a sharp side glance that felt like it pierced through me. I don't understand why she's hostile toward me. It felt like I was a big inconvenience for her when she was the one who was not supposed to be here this morning.
While we drove towards the office, I asked Joshua if we could pass by a diner to get some breakfast. Phoebe objected and said "Let's go to a McDonalds. I'd really like an egg muffin and a hot choco."
