"She seems like a nice girl. You are welcome to invite her over anytime you want to"

jane said

I looked over at her a bit surprised that she was allowing me to have a friend over. I should start remembering that maybe they are not like the others.

"Really? I'm allowed to have her over?"

"Yes, Thea bear, you are allowed to have her over and any other friends that you may meet at school."

"Thank you,"

I said with a broad smile.

"We love you Thea bear. Yes, you have only been with us for a week but we consider you our daughter."

when we got home, I headed straight for my room, I had a lot to catch on. Jane brought me a sandwich and some juice, then left again. Lenny also popped in a bit later to see if he could help me with anything. He ended up covering my books talking more about his and Jane's jobs, it felt nice having someone care enough about me to help and keep me company.

Once we were done, I thanked Lenny for his help and the company then took a shower. If Lenny started talking, it seemed he didn't stop that easily. Jane called me for supper, which was really good. Lenny made steak with potatoes and mushroom sauce. After supper, I helped clean up, then said good night to both of them and went straight to bed.

Maximus

P.O.V

I was finally done with the paperwork, but I still had a meeting to attend too,

'" Where are you? We need to leave. I have a meeting in an hour."

I mind linked Joel.

"Be there in 5 minutes alpha, just picking Stacey up from school"

Without a reply, I cut the link and started to get ready. I own many companies, everyone in my pack works for me. I'd hate for my people to suffer or struggle with monthly expenses, so as soon as they are done with their studies, they are allowed to choose in which department they want to work. I hardly have people that are not part of my pack working for me.

I met Joel outside of the pack house so we could leave for my meeting.

"Good Afternoon alpha"

"We should have been there already."

As soon as we drove, the fresh wind blew Joel's scent around the car. All of a sudden, Blake my wolf was restless... that smell... its...

"Do you smell that?"

Blake asked me

"Yeah I do, the smell is coming from Joel."

"That scent belongs to our mate!"

"Are you sure?"

"Damn right, I'm sure."

"Care to tell me why the f**k you have my mates scent all over you Joel?"

I seethed

He looked lost, taken aback, then... afraid, that's right. You should be afraid... be very f*****g afraid.

"I expect an answer, Joel! Or I could let Blake out, and believe me. He isn't very far from coming forth"

"I.. I.. alpha, I.. I dont know!"

"Don't f**k with me Joel! Why the f**k do you smell like my f*****g mate?"

"I... s**t, fuck... I don't know, come on Max, I didn't even know you had a mate."

"I don't or didn't, but Blake says he knows that scent belongs to our mate, so who the f**k have you been with?"

"I was with no one, I swear! I just picked Stacey up.... my sister is your mate?"

"I've been around here enough to know that she isn't. Who else?"

"I met her, Stacey's new friend, and her mother, that is it."

"Are they new here?"

"The girl is. The mother is Lenny's wife. Do you think it's her? I haven't met her before today."

"I have"

"Then that leaves the girl alpha. She is human"

"Why do you smell like her?"

"I hugged her... and her mother"

"You hugged my f*****g mate?"

Blake roared, clearly upset enough to take over.

"Alpha, I'm sorry I didn't know she is your mate... "

"Meetings over, reschedule!"

"What? are you out of your mind? She is human, you can't just barge in and tell her she is your mate!"

"Watch your f*****g tone Joel! I'm not Maximus."

"I'm soryy alpha"

He said, bowing his head in submission,

"Blake give me back control"

"Not a f*****g chance! I will find our mate first."

"We will, but let me handle it for now. You scared the s**t out of Joel, "

"That should teach him not to get grabby with my mate! Is that s**t I smell? Don't tell me your beta s**t himself in my Maxi baby, we are gonna have serious problems!"

I tried to keep myself from laughing out loud but I couldn't and I burst out. Joel turned to me with a confused look on his face, then it turned into a frown. Blake gave me back control after telling me to deal with my beta.

"Dude, did you s**t yourself in my car?"

"What the f**k! No I didn't, the smell is coming from outside. And what the hell was all that about? f**k! I thought you were gonna rip my throat out, man. I'm sorry Max. I didn't know she was your mate."

"What do you know about her?"

"She is Stacey's new friend and she is living with Jane and Lenny. That's all I know so far. "

"So she's still in school?"

"Yes she is, she could be about fifteen years old, she is beautiful Max."

I growled at him. Joel put his hands up in surrender

"What will you do when we get there?"

"Bring her to the pack house where she belongs."

"Alpha She is human"

"You just told me her parents are apart from the pack. How can she be human?"

"I'm not sure alpha. Jane isn't a werewolf, so that could be why she isn't. Besides, I have never seen or heard that they had a kid"

"Call your sister to find out what she knows"

"Fine"

"Hi, Stacey... what do you know about Thea?"

"Why?"

"Just need to know"

"Na ah Joel, she is young! And my friend"

"It's not about that."

"Then what's this about Big Brother?"

"The alpha needs to know"

"Well you could have just said so you big dummy,, I dont know that much, but aunt Jane is her adopted mother and she hasn't been living with them very long."

"What else?"

"That's basically it Joel I didn't want to push her to talk about things she didn't want to share with someone she had just met."

"Okay thanks"

"Can I ask why the alpha needs to know these things?"

"Just pack stuff Stacey"

"Okay, then bye."

"See you soon"

Joel hung up the call, my mate was adopted. I didn't care. She is my mate and I'll have to work hard for her to trust me. This is not going to be easy.

"What do we do now, alpha?"

"I'll wait. We can speak about this with Lenny tomorrow"

Thea's

P.O.V

I woke up feeling sick, my head pounded against my skull if that's even possible. I couldn't even open my eyes, it felt too heavy to open them. I tried to shout for Jane or Lenny but that just made the headache worsen, somehow Lenny heard me and came rushing into my room, followed by Jane. They both looked worried. Damn, I must really look like s**t.

"Thea bear what's wrong?"

Jane asked me

"My head, it feels like its splitting in half"

I groaned out

"Lenny, call the doctor"

she said, then got into bed with me, pulling me closer to her so she could wrap me in her arms, she massaged my head with her finger tips. She eased some of the pain I was feeling.

"It will be okay Thea, the doctor will be here soon."

She cooed

I heard Lenny speaking on the phone.

"Alpha, sorry to bother you this late but I have an emergency....... My daughter is experiencing excruciating pain. Is it possible for the doctor to come and have a look.........? Please, alpha, I wouldn't ask if this wasn't serious"

Alpha? I have heard about that before.... but where and what does it mean.... or could that just be the person's name?

"That's okay alpha. There is no need for you to come along. I do not wish to bother you much more."

"Okay then see you soon"

Lenny hung up the call...

"Honey, can you get me a bowl of water and a cloth she is burning up."

Lenny returned with the water a cloth and a bottle of water for me to drink.

"The doctor will be here anytime, just hang in there Thea"

Lenny said as he rubbed the back of my hand.

Maximus

P.O.V

I was about to go to bed when the phone rang. Maybe I should just ignore it, but this nagging feeling I had pushed me to answer the call, it was Lenny asking for a doctor to check on his daughter. Something was wrong with my mate.

"We'll be there soon"
