Chapter 18Di watched as the full moon poked out from behind the clouds. She was utterly enchanted. She’d not yet even gone into the party at the Moon Books store, but she was feeling the energy of the night move through her. Earlier in the day, she’d been eating small candy bars with Barb at their desk as she heard overflowing words of praise from Cindy from the Harvest Festival; then she’d darted home to see pumpkins lining every corner and cobwebs in the windows of most small businesses on King Street. Her apartment complex was similarly decked out in spooky decorations from bats hanging in the windows on thread and spiders plastered to the wall.
