David  POV "Doctor, these are the files you asked for." Taniya handed me the files as I decided to go home. "Is my mum in her office?" I asked taking the files, I pushed my phone into the pant pocket. "Yes sir." I walked into my office to see Elora. She looked exhausted and tired. "Hey, when did you come?" I removed my coat and mask, placed my files on the desk. "Not long, missed you. Dinner at home?" She asked. "Sure, I need to talk with Aishu aunty. Mum is having an operation tonight. Give me five minutes." I walked into the bathroom to wash my hands and face. Elora's home is like a second home to me and I spent most of my holidays and summer in their house than my home. My mum is busy with her work and hospital so Aishu aunty is like my second mum. "How is work?" I asked getting into the car. "Tiresome, working all my nights on the projects as I don't want mummy to worry. It's going good now and I'm sure once Sitara starts working it will become easy." She leaned into her seat. "Are you sure? Like I don't think your sister is capable of working on business projects." I thought about her sister. She very opposite of Elora, it's very hard to believe that they are siblings. "Don't underestimate my sister David, she is very intelligent. I know she is very cold and doesn't like people, so mumma wants her to work. If she starts working in the company, she will make everyone work efficiently and doesn't hesitate to point out the mistakes no matter who they are." "Is she always like this?" I'm curious to know about her. I heard about her childhood from their aunts and uncles. "She was the wildest kid as you already know. Indeed, she didn't like to listen to anyone but trust me she isn't that bad. If she trusts you I bet she is the most amazing person you ever meet." "I don't think so. Amazing and your sister?" I stopped the car as the signal turned red. I never met someone like Sitara, extremely rowdy and snappish and don't forget the frown. Good thing she isn't home, she went to summer vacation. She likes to travel a lot and doesn't stay in her home. "The traffic here sucks," Elora said. I hummed agreeing to her, we reached her home after twenty minutes. We walked in to see the working staff arranging the table. "Mum will be here in an hour, she went out for a family function." "Okay." "I'm going to freshen up, why don't you go and grab a snack. Farheen will help you." "Farheen?" She didn't listen as she already went upstairs. I started walking towards the kitchen to grab a fruit and water bottle. "Aai (mother), the countryside is good compared to the city. The air is polluted and it's not good for the skin." My brows frowned as I heard a female voice which is very calm. I walked in to see Elora's sister sitting on the marble island, her back is facing me and an elderly lady spoon-feeding her. Isn't she supposed to be in Korea? The lady observed me "Do you need anything beta(son)?" She asked politely. Sitara turned around and the smile which was there turned into a frown. "I will help myself, thank you." I gave a gentle smile to the lady opening the fridge door. "You wore your mask or not? Should I make a besan paste?" The lady whose name I guess Farheen asked Sitara. "No Aai, I used face steaming and it's good. I enjoyed my stay there and you know I even brought lots of ramen packets." I pulled apple and oranges out. "You like ramen?" Lady asked. "Yes Aai, I love their ramen and I want you to cook." "More than my rasam rice?" I took a plate and knife. I glanced at them to see Sitara smiling. I blinked my eyes in surprise, she looks different when she smiles. "Nah, I will die without your rasam rice. Nothing can beat Aai's rasam rice." Why is she so sweet towards this woman? I never saw her talking to someone sweetly. Even with Aishu aunty, she wears a blank face. I walked out of the kitchen and found Elora getting down. "Your sister returned?" "You saw her? Yeah, she returned last night." I pulled my chair gently and took a seat. "Who is Farheen and I'm shocked to see your sister smiling." Elora chuckled "Farheen used to work here when we were kids. Sitara is very close to her as she was her nanny. Farheen left to her native place ten years ago, mum contacted her and offered her a residential job as she knows the only person Sitara respects and loves so much is Farheen. Sitara is going to stay here and Farheen being here helps her. Sitara calls her as Aai." "That's new," I said remembering Sitara's face. "By the way, Aarav said he saw Sharon last night." I stiffened hearing her name. "Yeah, he sent me a photo. She looks happy with her husband." Sharon and I dated for three years, I was so in love with her but things didn't turn out like I wanted. She wasn't happy with long-distance and I went to Russia for my medicine. I tried my best but she didn't give me an option as she decided it's best to break up. I was heartbroken and concentrated on my studies. It's been seven years, I just can't see myself dating anyone nor I tried to date. "David, it's time you see someone and date," Elora said. "Not now, I'm busy with my residency and mumma wants to retire." I woke up to the sound of my alarm, I checked the messages and emails. Last night I stayed here after dinner as it was late and I was tired. I have my clothes here, I have an operation in the afternoon, and today's schedule is busy. I got up from the bed and walked towards the balcony, a habit to see the sunrise. Startled seeing Sitara playing basketball. I stood there watching her play, I used to play basketball in my high school. She plays like a professional player. Shaking my head I went to do my bathroom business. I got ready and went downstairs to have breakfast. I smiled seeing Aishu aunty, Sitara is also present. "Good morning aunty." "Good morning David." I took my seat and turned to Sitara. "Good morning Sitara." I smiled politely, she ignored me eating her breakfast. "Morning." My smile twitched down. I was just being polite here. "Sitara..." "David, are you free now?" Aishu aunty asked as the staff lady served my breakfast. "Thank you." I thanked the lady turning to Aishu aunty. "Yes aunty, I'm free for two hours." "That's good, will you do me a favour?" "Sure aunty." "You see it's Sitara's first day in college and I can't drop her off. Will you please drop her?" Sitara snorted. "Amma(mom), I can go by auto or bus. I know my way." "If she doesn't have any problem, I can drop her off," I said, Sitara's gaze snapped on me. "I know you know your way here but public transportation in the mornings aren't a good choice." Aishu aunty explained Sitara. "Okay." Sitara got up and walked towards the upstairs. Aishu aunty shook her head. "What course did she chose?" I asked while eating my food. "She chose the interior designing course. She joined in INIFD." I nodded in appreciation. "She passed all the entrance tests?" "Surprisingly with top mark, she sure surprised me."Aishu aunty replied with a proud smile. I spoke with Aishu aunty as we waited for Sitara to come. She didn't take much time as I watched her get down in her blue denim and a black t-shirt. Her hair is up in a ponytail and she wore sneakers. She looks like a kid to me no matter what. Maybe because of the age gap between us. "Sitara, here." Farheen walked out with a small bowl. "Aai, you know I don't believe all this," Sitara said with a peaceful face. She ate the sugar and curd mix. People eat Curd and sugar for a good start and a good result. I watched as she hugged Farheen before walking towards us. "Bye Ma." She slightly hugged Aishu aunty. The drive to her college is silent, I didn't speak and she has her earphones plugged in.
