Chapter 51

1093 Words

DEMIEN'S POV: The Chief Councilor stood tall, his gaze sharp and cold. His presence alone seemed to suck, I could see a flicker of something dangerous in his eyes, something that had been festering for too long. The Chief Councilor did not wait long. He came to me in front of my chamber, challenging my right to lead. “The pack deserves an alpha who is strong,” he began. “An alpha who can protect us from enemies within and without. But how can we trust an alpha who is so easily deceived by a traitor?” The word "traitor" hung in the air. My blood ran hot, anger coiling within me like a serpent ready to strike. From inside my chamber, I could hear every word he uttered. My hands clenched into fists, nails digging into my palms, and I could feel the pulse of my heartbeat echoing in my ears.
