Chapter 9Kol steered the car out of Rockshade and toward Ashork. Leo was by his side, going through notes. When Kol’s phone rang, Elora’s name flashed on the screen, and a knot formed in his gut. “Yes,” he barked. “They took Eli!” Kol hit the brakes, the car behind them blared its horn, but stopped before hitting them from behind. “We’re coming.” He tossed the phone to Leo, who softly was trying to soothe Elora, and crossed over to the other side of the road, steering back toward the city. Luckily, it had taken longer than Kol had planned to get on the road, so they had only been on their way for a few minutes. Kol drove as fast as he dared to, passing one car after the other, and was back in the city within minutes. He growled in frustration when people wouldn’t get out of his way.
