The handsome man stared at me for a few seconds before smiling. "I do not expect anything from you in return. I am just offering a solution to the issue." "Are you a serial killer or something?" I asked, not understanding why someone as handsome as he would offer to let me stay in his room with no strings attached. "I can assure you I have no attention of hurting you." he said, looking amused. I looked at his hand. He was not wearing a ring. "Are you married or have a girlfriend?" "Unfortunately, I have not been lucky enough yet to find my mate." "If you don't plan on hurting me, why would you do this? You don't even know me." "Like I said, I could never live with myself if something happened to you and I could have helped. I promise I will be the perfect gentleman. If it helps ease your mind, you can leave your information at the front desk. You can also let them know you are staying with me." I thought about what he said. It would be crazy to stay in a room with a complete stranger. Not to mention stupid. I watched enough crime shows to know that even the nicest people could be hiding an evil side. A side that they kept hidden from the rest of the world. I could hear my mother's voice in my head telling me to just walk away. "Thank you very much for your offer, but I will figure something else out," I said, turning and walking away. "Wait, please." He said, reaching out and grabbing my arm. He let go of my arm when I turned, giving him a death stare. "I'm sorry." he said, looking ashamed. "I didn't mean to grab you like that." I didn't say anything as I stood there staring at him. "I just want to help," he said in a gentle voice. "You're a young woman in a town you're not familiar with, and I'm a stranger. I understand your hesitation. I'm not some secret serial killer looking for my next victim. My name is Xander Wilson. I come to the convention every year. The front desk knows who I am." Xander Wilson, why did that name sound so familiar? Where had I heard it before? "Please let me help you." he said, begging me with his eyes. I stood there staring at him. I wasn't sure what the right thing to do was. On the one hand, he was a stranger. But I didn't get any bad vibes from him. He seemed like he really just wanted to help. On the other hand, most serial killers come off as charming. He was right, though I didn't know this town and sleeping in my car was not the best idea. There were so many things that could go wrong in that situation. My eyes felt heavy, and I didn't know how much longer I would be able to stay awake. Xander noticed. "You're exhausted. Please take my offer." he begged. Feeling the weight of the long drive home and the pain from Tony's betrayal and the long drive back to my mother's house, I gave in. If it was my time to go, there was nothing I could do to stop my fate. At least if it happened it would be by a hot ass guy. I looked into his eyes, then nodded. "Thank you." "You don't have to thank me for doing the right thing. Come on, let's go talk to the front desk. Let them know about you staying in my room, then we can get your bags, and you can get some sleep." I didn't say anything as I followed him back to the desk. The woman behind the counter gave him a huge smile, then blushed. "Mr. Wilson, what can I do for you?" she said in an overly sweet voice. "I need to get a parking sticker for my guest. She will be staying the week with me as well." he said, looking at me and smiling. The week? I only planned to stay the night. "Of course sir. What is your guests name?" she asked as she typed on the computer in front of her. Xander looked at me to answer. "Jazmine Green," I answered. She continued to type on her computer, never looking up. When she had finished entering in my information she looked up and smiled at me warmly. "Ms. Green here are your parking passes, along with your room key," she said, laying the items on the counter in front of us. She then walked over and grabbed another key from the stack on the counter behind her. "This is your access key. This card will allow you access to all our amenities. You can access the pool and gym 24 hours a day. The spa closes at 6 pm. Enjoy your stay." she said, still smiling. "Please put all Jazmine's expenses on my card." "Yes Sir." "You don't have to do that. I can pay for myself." I said in objection. "I'm sure you can, but you are my guest," Xander said with a smile. I wanted to protest but didn't want to argue with him in front of others. "Will that be all?" she said, looking up at Xander. "The air condition in the suite is not working properly." "I'll send someone up right away to check it out." "Could you also have someone bring up more pillows and blankets?" "Of course sir. Will that be all?" "Yes, thank you." Xander said, smiling as he picked up the items on the counter. "Your very welcome Mr. Wilson, Enjoy the rest of your night." "Thank you," he said, then turned away and headed towards the front doors with me following him. "You don't have to do all this. I just need a place to sleep for a few hours." I said, walking faster to keep up with his long strides. "Here," he said, handing me the parking pass. "Where is your car?" "Over there." I pointed. We got to my car and I unlocked my door. I climbed in and put the parking pass on my dash. I climbed back out and opened the back door. I started rummaging through the bags to find something to sleep in. I looked over at Xander from the corner of my eye, he didn't say a word. He just stood there watching me. I can only imagine what he was thinking about all the full trash bags shoved in my car. I grabbed a pair of shorts and one of my t-shirts, then closed the door. "I like it cold when I sleep." he said, looking down at what I grabbed. He asked for extra blankets. I'm sure he would let me use one if I needed it. I didn't want to spend any more time digging through the bags. I was already embarrassed enough as it was. "I'll be fine, thanks." I said, locking my door and heading back to the hotel. He didn't say anything more as he walked beside me.
