Hearing voices

1793 Words
The dungeons are cold, and I can feel the silence down through my bones. A drop of water keeps falling from a nearby pipe. It seems to be the only water source down here. "What's a pretty girl like you doing down here?" I hear a voice. The voice sounded like a snake, mysterious and cold. "W-Who are you?" I get up. "Oh no, darling, that won't matter, won't matter at all." A female voice says this time. "St-Stay away from me!" Then hands grab at my ankles and pull me down. Whispering surrounds me and I feel as if I'm going crazy. "Who's there?" I try to crawl, but hands keep me down. "Sh, child! They'll hear you!" Snake shushes. Who's he? What's going on? "L-Leave me alone!" I grab at where the voices come from. I end up touching a beard. A small scream falls flat from my mouth. "I thought we told you to hush child." A cold harsh hand hits my face. More whispering and I actually feel crazy. "S-Stop talking!" I join in on the whispering involuntarily. I can see their eyes, wide and tired. "What's your name, child?" The female wonders. I don't know if I should give them my real name, my middle name, or a fake name. "L-Louise, if you may." My great manners came out. "Louise." Snake drags out the name. "Don't lie to us, child." The talking stops. I can feel that the people who were whispering are gone. But safety comes just like sleep does. It doesn't. There's a window. I can clearly see that the sun has risen. Alpha Larove's instructions are for me to stay down here all night. And I have. This must mean my time's up! "How has she been, Charles?" I hear his voice. "She's been whispering to people all night." Charles answers. "Who?" I see Alpha Larove's forest green eyes look at me. "I don't know, I didn't hear any other voices." Charles explains. What? Then who was I talking to? There are other people here! I could hear them! "Alright, well, I'll talk to her about it." Then he comes by the cell I'm in. He looks at me and shakes his head. It seems when Alpha Larove needs to think, he paces. Pacing means that you're anxious, so what's he anxious about? I can see that he's going over something in his head. His eyes tell it all. "What voices did you hear?" He asks. "A man and a woman." I inform. "Okay, okay, well, you were the only one in your cell. So they must have been-" I interrupt him. "They were in my cell. They grabbed my ankles." Alpha Larove mutters a few swear words. "Don't interrupt me, Samantha." He says with a warning tone. I nod and look down. "Have you heard voice before?" Alpha Larove wonders. I nod. "It wasn't your wolf?" He questions. I don't answer him. My wolf doesn't communicate with me. The only time I've ever heard her voice was when I met Alpha Larove. "Answer me!" He yells. "No, i-it wasn't." I mutter. "Dammit!" He whispers. I'm alone again. And I take some time to look at his room. The walls are ivory, his bed as a white comforter, light blue throw pillows, and white pillows. He has a gray sofa in the left corner of the room and in front of that sofa is a wooden coffee table. The coffee table has a mug on it alone with a few other books and a newspaper. Above his bed there is a ceiling fan with lights on it. The room is rather plain, but well decorated. When Alpha Larove comes back he tells me that all of the other inmates had there mouths sealed shut. I ask him how there "sealed" shut. And his answer makes me very uneasy. He tells me that they sew their lips together so none of them could talk or plot a way out of here. It's their person hell. I stay in the room for the whole day. Alpha Larove constantly checks up on me to make sure Emily hasn't taken me out yet. And each time he comes by, I forget to ask him where Emily is. Normally, she'd try to visit me. Emily hasn't been in my life for a long time, but I know her. And I know she would have attempted to make sure I am still intact. Around noon, I hear a knock on the door. I quickly rush over to the door and pray that it's my lunch. "Jack, I know you're in there!" The familiar voice of Chelsea calls. But instead, I open the door. "What are you doing here?" She eyes me. "I l-live here." I summon all my nonexistent confidence. "Sure you do," Chelsea eyes me some more, "well if I were you, I'd get out of here before he finds out you're in his room, slut." Then she walks away. The next knock on the door is in fact my lunch. The woman who brings me my meals tells me that it's a cheese quesadilla with a side of cilantro-lime rice. It looks so delicious. I quickly thank the person who brought me my lunch and I start to eat it. By the coffee table there's a small television. He has Netflix so I decide to watch Legally Blonde. "What are you doing?" I catch Alpha Larove's scent. "I-I, um-" I can tell he's a very impatient person because yet again he interrupts me. "I never said you could watch Netflix." He crosses his arms. "I was j-just looking for some-something to do." I stutter. "Just don't do it again." He glares at me before leaving again. Why is it such a big deal if I watch Netflix or not? The day goes by slowly, without a single checkup from Emily. I can't believe she didn't come to see me. It's not like she follows Alpha Larove' rules anyway. Then around six pm, Alpha Larove comes by again with Emily. I can feel the smile lift on my face. "I'm introducing you to the pack today. Emily if you pull anything. I swear you're gone." He has a tight hold on her wrists. I can see a bruise start to form. We're in my closet and she's going through all the possible outfits. "You don't want to look trashy, but you also don't want to look like you're trying too hard." She whispers to herself. Then she gasps. Whatever it is I'm wearing tonight, Emily finds it. The outfit is actually so me. I mean, my own mother doesn't even know what I like. And I've known Emily for about three days and she's like my best friend. Best friend. Genelia! Oh my gosh, I can't believe that I haven't thought about her that much. But now that I am, I miss her so much. I wonder how she's doing. I stare at my loving mate. "You look beautiful." He awes at me. A blush appears on my face and I don't think I can get it off. "Thank you." I smile. "Are you ready?" He wonders. I nod. He grabs my hand and gently walks me- "Samantha! Are you there? If I knew my mate would be such an airhead, I wouldn't have gone to the ball." Alpha Larove insults me. Then I realize that small scene (the scene that meant a lot to me) isn't real. And that my mate isn't loving nor is he gentle. He's hating and rough. If I knew my mate would be a murderer I wouldn't have gone to the ball, either. That's what I want to say. But I'm never going to. Alpha Larove guides me up to a podium. "Welcome, I have put this dinner together for you all to meet my mate, Samantha. I am aware that I need an heir by my twenty-seventh birthday next year or I'll be adjourned. So please, my mate Samantha." The pack members erupt in applause. My breathing speeds up and I can feel a word vomit. "U-um, I'm Samantha. As Alpha Larove stated. I'm from Midnight Shadow Pack in New Hampshire. Uh, I'm really excited to meet you all." I bite my lip. "Aye shorty! Show us your t**s!" Some guy from the crowd yells. A small and disgusted gasp escapes my lips and I look over to Alpha Larove who's already fuming. This is about the third time a guy has done something like that to me since I joined this pack. The boy who yelled the degrading comment is escorted out of here by a few guards from the dungeons. I quickly step away from the podium and try to disappear in the crowd. It doesn't work if you're the new Luna. A little boy pulls at my skirt. "Hi! I'm Ethan! My mommy and I are in this pack!" The little boy smiles. I level down to him. "Well, hello, Ethan. I'm Samantha, how old are you?" I give him a sweet smile. "I'm five! But I'm turning six on October 18!" His eyes are playful. "I'm turning eighteen April 2." I inform. "But that's next year." Ethan murmurs. "Correct." I smile and ruffle up his hair a bit. "Oh Ethan! There you are! I'm really sorry, Luna." Ethan's mom apologizes. "It's no big deal, Ethan's a very nice boy." I smile. The rest of the night I'm greeted by other pack members and I got to know a lot of them. I may not remember all of their names, but this pack is fairly large. I'd be surprised of Alpha Larove knows their names. I go to bed right after the dinner tonight. Alpha Larove is never in the bed when I get in, or in the bed when I wake up. I've gotten used to it. And tonight my stomach hurts. I normally have to have all three meals throughout the day or I'll get really sick. And because I didn't have breakfast because of the punishment I made sure to eat a lot tonight. I fall asleep quickly. It's dark. The only thing I can see are red eyes staring daggers at me. "Ah, little Samantha. It's been a while hasn't it? How's the inimical? Never mind, I don't care anymore. I'm sorry that this is the way things had to be done. But you're Jack's mate. You're his weakness. You are, aren't you?" The voice from a few days ago asks. No, I'm not his weakness. He doesn't have one. Monsters don't have weaknesses. "Samantha, this is a dream. I can hear your thoughts. When you wake up, make sure to tell Jack, Michael says hello."
