The next morning I realize that Alpha Larove is still in bed. I take this time to study his features more thoroughly. Like his simple beard, he never shaves it. His eyebrows are scrunched even in his sleep, it’s as if he’s dreaming of killing someone or maybe he's mad in his dream. His skin is flawless, not a single error. In all honesty, he’s beautiful. But how can someone so perfect, be a murderer? I decide that even if I do absolutely nothing today, I should still put on some clothes. I don’t feel like showering this morning, so I’ll do it tonight. As I made my way to my closet I stop at the sound of Alpha Larove’s voice. “What are you doing?”He questions. I turn to face him. “I just thought I sh-should get d-dressed, Alpha.”I inform. “Okay, but don’t look slutty again. We’re having breakfast with my Beta.”I nod and go to my closet. Normally, Emily is picking out my clothes, but due to the current situation she isn’t. I, of course, have no idea what to wear. Emily always mutters something when she chooses my clothes. The only problem is, I never take it upon myself to find out what she’s saying. Maybe, I can still try to figure it out. It’s useless! I’ve been standing here for ten minutes and I don’t even have a single letter. “Samantha! What the hell is taking so long? Pick a bloody dress already!” Alpha Larove’s voice has a British accent. I stammer over to wear the pants are and pick out whatever looks like it will look good. “I said a dress.” Alpha points to where all the dresses are. I stare at him for a while. Why a dress? “You know what? We have fifteen minutes, hurry the f**k up!”I go as fast as I possibly can, and I can feel Alpha Larove growing more and more impatient. “I don’t know what she’s doing in there? Help her Emily.”I hear and my head snaps up at the mention of Emily. “Okay, but I’m going with you guys.” Then I see Emily. I run up to her and hug her. “Let go of me. Come on, straighten your hair, pink lip gloss, thick eyeliner, nude eyeshadow, and leave the rest to me. And hurry.” Emily and I get done as quickly as possible. I see Alpha Larove stare at his watch and then look back up at me.”I gave you fifteen minutes. Fifteen! Can you even read time? Obviously not if you think an hour is fifteen minutes!”Alpha Larove roars at me. “I-I’m sorry, Alpha, I d-didn’t know what to wear.”I apologize. “Well, you’re dressed now. by the way Emily, You should go back to baking, that’s the one thing you can do right.” He sneers as he eyes my outfit. Emily mutters a curse word under her breath.
During the car ride, my mate introduces me to Dean .He seems nice, and quite funny. The kind of man I want to be my mate. "So, I hear you're from Midnight Shadow, aye?" Dean questions me and scoots closer. Alpha Larove's head snaps toward Dean, and lets out a menacing growl. "If you get any more close to her, I will personally rip your heart out from your chest." He taunts. He never fails to frighten me. And it isn't noon, yet.
The beginning of breakfast is silent. Just like the lunch with Felix and Emily. There's nothing I can do. After the awkward silence, our waitress comes. She has fair skin, and light brown hair. Her brown eyes are lighter than her hair, she resembles a vampire. She's very bony, and her facial structures are very well defined. "U-Uh, I'm Teresa, I'll be your waitress for today. What can I get you to drink?" Her eyes divert to Emily.
We all order our drinks, I decide on a Caramel Mocha to help wake me up. Then I remember my dream from the last night.
When you wake up, make sure to tell Jack, Michael says hello...
Who is Michael?
How does he know Alpha Larove?
My eyes shoot over to Alpha Larove who's scanning over the menu. I should tell him right? What if he yells at me? What if he doesn't believe me? What if I ruin breakfast? I should just wait until after breakfast. Then I know for sure I can't ruin this. Rather quickly, Teresa comes back with our drinks. "Are you ready to order?" She looks over at Dean, who's too busy on his cell. I hear Emily kick him under the table, and we finally all order and I, of course, go with my all time favorite, Strawberry Crepes with a side of sausage and a Caesar Salad.
Over breakfast Alpha Larove and Dean talk about finances, property development, and population. This is a big pack, Blood-Rose Ash, with a population of half a million. Alpha Larove looks over at me often, the emotion in his eyes are indescribable. Like two wolves fighting. I finally start to listen to their conversation. "We should let the seniors go," Alpha Larove tries to finalize. That's absurd! All eyes are on me.
"Samantha, I don't remember including you in this conversation. Why don't you and Emily talk about makeup or some s**t?" Alpha Larove snaps. I begin to apologize but instantly cut off. "I want to hear what she has to say Jack. Please tell." Dean smiles at me. Alpha Larove growls at him. But I didn't say anything. "U-Uh, maybe instead of 'letting go' we should require more of the teenagers to get a job so we can expand the property." I mutter.
I don't hear any words for some time. Maybe I shouldn't have gotten into their conversation, how did I get in it? Well, I cannot worry about that now. "I-It's just a s-stupid idea." I manage to croak out. "I think it's a great idea!" Emily slightly raises her had and an encouraging smile on her face. "Nonsense! She's a stupid girl, she couldn't even pick out an outfit." Alpha Larove stares at me intensely.
"If you'll excuse me."
I rush over to the nearest bathroom and go into the handicapped stall. I sit on the ground, not caring for the expensive clothing I'm fashioning. "Samantha!" Emily's voice alarms. I don't say anything. Maybe if I don't respond she'll leave.
She doesn't. Soon enough, my emotions get the best of me and I start to sob. Emily was skinny and short so she is able to crawl under the stall door. "Don't listen to him Samantha-" I cut her off. "C-Can I tell you a secret?"
"I imagine a perfect mate. Even before I met Alpha Larove, now more so. He would be charismatic, electric even. The way he looks at me would send chills down my spin. Everyone could feel it too. They could feel the compassion and adoration we exchanged. A look could tell me loves me. My best friend, Genevieve, she has that. With her mate. I'm never going to have that and it's so bad. Alpha Larove is a heartless monster, a narcissist. A sadist, he is! I can never love a man like that. And a man like that can never love me."
Emily doesn't say anything. She just engulfs me in a hug. "Dean and Jack left. Jack told me to make sure you're not a mess when he sends on of the pack's drivers to pick us up." Emily attempts to get my off the floor. "Is my makeup okay?" I ask her. Emily shakes her head but soon enough she guides me to where the paper towel is and she just takes off my eye makeup.
Emily looks at me like she has something to tell me. "Is-" she stops me from continuing. "How about we don't go back?" Emily challenges. "No! Remember last time? I had to sleep in the dungeons!" I refuse. Why would she even bring that up? I mean, what happened that night was really scary and I know for a fact I can't go through that again. I haven't even told Alpha Larove about that Michael thing yet. Maybe Emily knows something...
I decide to ask Emily later today incase I never ask Alpha Larove. I don't want her to get as mad as Alpha would if I ruined everything. Even if I already ruined breakfast.
Once our driver gets here Emily gives him directions to somewhere that sounds familiar. "We're going to see Crash." She whispers to me. I nod. My last time with Crash was fun.
In half an hour we're at Crash's Flower Shop. It's not called that though. Crash is dealing with some customers when she notices our arrival. Emily and I wander around the store pretending to be busy. "This is a bad idea." I mutter. Emily rolls her eyes at me. "Do you want to leave?" She raises her eyebrows. "I just don't want you to be kicked out." My head hangs low. Emily inhales sadly.
"I heard about what Jack did." Crash's voice nears. I turn to face her. "I'm not going to be here for long. I just thought of dropping by more frequently." Emily informs. She never tells Crash about her strikes.
Crash tells me about when she first started the flower shop and how weird people think it is. Her tough demeanor doesn't really yell flower shop. But after about ten minutes, really short story I know, we have to be on our way. Or Alpha will get suspicious.
