“Hey, Wendy.” I was just about to hurl myself around the corner when I heard Roan call for me. Skidding to a stop, I watched him come towards me from our elective classroom. As soon as the bell rang, I’d started running as if my life depended on it, not sparing my seatmate a glance like he hadn’t the whole class. Nervously, I adjusted the straps of my bag as I waited until Roan stopped in front of me. “What is it, Roan?” I asked. “Are you going home?” “Yeah. Why?” “I heard from Autumn you’re going to support her at her tryouts tomorrow.” He gestured for me to continue walking with him. “It sucks but I can’t be there.” I frowned at him. “Why not?” “I have a meeting,” he answered with a sigh. My frown deepened. Even if he had a meeting, I wished he’d gone to Autumn’s tryouts instead
