Chapter 7

I stood in shock at Xayvion's idea, he really expected me to fight a woman I had never met before with the strength I'm still not sure I had. Rebecca looked tough as nails, I have never seen female boxing before but from what I saw her do I got the image.

"Xayvion you're insane, I'm not going to pick a fight with that monster"

"You're not picking a fight, you're challenging her"

"Same thing genius, aren't you the one that told me to rest and not exert myself?"

"Aren't you the one that doesn't listen?"

"This isn't funny Xay"

"There's no need to get angry or scared, if the fight gets too intense I'll stop it, besides, Rebecca is a professional, she knows when to stop and when to pursue"

Rebecca had just finished with her one-sided fight, sweat was dripping from every part of her body, in the shinny effect it gave I could see her muscles properly, they were so defined

"Can't we just test my strength another way?"

"I would have wanted that but given we're in times where new bloods are attacking every day I at least want you to have battle experience, killing two birds with one stone"

Xayvion looked very excited about this fight, I couldn't see why, his mate is about to receive the ass whooping of her life and there he is behaving like a child about to watch a wrestling match

"If I so much as get a bruise I will kill you, Xayvion Cage"

"That's my Luna"

He whistled loudly to call Rebecca, after receiving his call she ran up to us, she and I were the same height.

"Alpha, you sent for me?"

"Yes, Becca I want you to meet my mate and the Luna of this pack, Devenity"

"Nice to finally meet you, how have you been since the incident?"

Oh yeah, I forgot I was injured in front of the entire pack

"I'm well, just happy to get back to reality and move my limbs"

"Speaking of limbs..."

Xayvion added

"I have a task for you, Becca"

"I'm all ears"

"You see, Devenity's body has changed quite a bit in the time she's been down, I would like you to test out her strength, don't break her just bend her a little"

"Why would you say that?"

"Not to worry my Luna..."

It felt strange having someone refer to me that way

"I know when to hold back"

"So I've been told...but I don't have any combat experience, I'll be down before I start"

"Not exactly, when in a battle or a casual hand to hand combat your wolf instincts are triggered, you might not know but chances are your wolf does"

If only you knew...

"Okay, just be gentle, I bruise really easily"

Rebecca took me to the center of the grounds, I didn't appreciate that because all eyes were on us once we set foot there. Xayvion was standing a little further away with his arms across his chest as if monitoring the fight, I looked over to my opponent who got into a fighting stance, I was terrified for my life.

"Ready?"

"No, but go anyway"

As she charged at me, my fight or flight instincts kicked in and I did what any rational person would, I ran, my heart was beating so fast it made me dizzy

"Come on Dev, you can do this"

Xayvion cheered

"Yeah, just take it easy, I swear I won't hurt you"

I took a second to catch my breath

"Okay...sorry"

"Ready"

I imitated her stance

"Mmm-hmm"

This time when she charged I stood firmly in place, though scared I stood my ground, she attempted to push me back but I grabbed her hands and we both proceeded to try and push the other back. I was surprised at the strength in my calves, they were unshaken and firm, my upper body was doing wonders as well, both helped me withstand Rebecca's strength

"Now that's what I'm talking about"

She smiled, backing up she managed to grab me by my neck and put me in a rear headlock, I was unprepared for it because she had done it so quickly

"Didn't you...promise not...to hurt...me?"

"Alpha said I should bend you a little"

"Right..."

I was starting to lose air and about to tap out when the sudden urge to win took over, I was unaware of the movements my body was making, it was like I wasn't in charge. On instinct or whatever it was, I protected my airway, once the air was returning to my lungs I tucked my chin down to my body, stepped back behind her, turned, and threw her down to the ground with so much force I heard a thud sound.

It took me a moment to register what just happened, the sudden rush of adrenaline made me a little light-headed

"Nice throw"

Rebecca praised from the ground, Xayvion came closer to us on the platform and checked my arms

"How did you do that?"

"I-I don't know, I think I just wanted to win"

My legs gave up on me in an instant and I almost fell but Xayvion caught me just in time

"Okay, that's enough for today"

I didn't know whether to be happy or frightened by the boost of strength I gained, on hand it felt awesome being able to throw down the packs top female warrior but on the other, the pain that followed was threatening to tear me apart

Xayvion had taken me back into the cabin where I was immediately sent to bed, I didn't argue with him this time because my body actually needed it. Once I was awake I sent for Mabaya to see if she could explain anything to me, my body's sudden strength and the aftermath both amused and concerned me.

"Xayvion told me you had quite the training session"

She sat on the chair next to my bed

"If you can call it a training session, majority of it was me getting the air choked out of me"

"But you succeeded, no?"

"Yeah, I managed to throw her down at the last minute"

"That's not so hard to believe, given you've changed much in size and height, now you can equally fight a warrior wolf"

"That aside, I wanted to ask if you could explain to me what just happened to my body and if it's natural"

"I'll try my best, but don't be disappointed if I fail, don't forget you're body is still hard to explain and understand"

"How can I forget, anyway, about the fight, the only reason I think I won is I had a sudden boost of stamina and strength, it wasn't there before then just...boom...it was there"

"Strange"

"Right, I was thinking to myself how that could happen but I can't answer that, any ideas?"

Mabaya leaned on the armrest of the chair, she furrowed her brows showing she was in deep thought

"This feels like a case we must take up with the council"

"Them? I'm sorry Mabaya but I don't exactly trust them considering they haven't been doing anything useful about the new bloods, how would they know about anything that has to do with me?"

"Remember when I told you they have existed for centuries, that's where they come in, a case like yours might not be from this timeline, it could have been present decades ago though"

She had a point, but are they willing to help me?

"Okay, so I agree with that logic, but why would they help me?"

"You're forgetting they still want to know what species you are in case you pose a threat to our world, every little clue counts, they've been working on finding out your identity just as hard as we have"

"Seriously?"

"Of course, that is why I am still urging you to take it easy on them"

"...great, now I feel like a s**t person for condemning them"

"It's alright, as long as you keep that sour attitude towards them to yourself when they come around"

"Yes ma'am"

"Right..."

She rose

"I'll be taking my leave now, I will send word to council member Hans immediately, and hopefully by tomorrow we'll receive his visit"

"Thank you"

She left the room and I was alone with my thoughts, once again, they've only been piling up since I woke up, of course, I asked for this when I decided to finally come back to reality but could I at least breathe for a moment?

The book of plants was by my bedside, I picked it up and decided to do some reading, not to get information but to clear my head a little, reading helps with that. I flipped through a number of pages when I came across one page that was torn, it was strange how I didn't notice it before, it was cut in such a way it didn't look like an accident, it was like sharp nails clawed it out

Who could have done this?

I have no knowledge of where these books came from, it could be that the previous owner cut it out for reasons best known to them, in that case, I wonder what secret was so bad it had the owner shaking to remove it.

The next day I made sure to be done with everything I needed to do so I could give my full attention to elder Hans. There wasn't much for me to do anyway, I just assisted Mabaya again with the wounded warriors, after that, I returned to the cabin early.

Not a moment after I returned elder Hans arrived, he was flying solo for this meeting. He was another victim of time and stress, comparing him to what he looked like 2 years ago I could see the drastic change, even more than Xayvion's, this man was known for his height and muscular body but now he was like a shadow of his former self, it was sad to look at

"I'm so glad you could make it"

I received him into the cabin, Mabaya told me to handle the situation on my own, she said it would help me grow more, I agreed with her, I shouldn't always have someone beside me when dealing with something serious, I'll tell everyone what I've learned later but for now, I'll handle it myself.

"Thank you for sending for me, I've been meaning to come over but never had the perfect excuse to do so"

"You don't need an excuse, you're a council member"

"I'm afraid times have changed for the worst, since we haven't been handling the current situation properly we are no longer allowed in packs, it's like we have been shunned..."

His eyes bore much sorrow, I could also hear it in his voice, now I understand Mabaya, being a council member is a job he and the others probably have much pride in, to be seen as useless when you're trying to help is a feeling I know all too well

"But we're not here to talk about that, please explain to me the reason you called"

"Right...so, firstly it was Mabaya's idea to send for you, she said you might know of something that had happened to me recently"

"I'm listening"

"Yesterday, Xayvion wanted me to fight with one of the female warriors, his reason being he wanted to test out my new body, I don't know if you can remember what I looked like before but I have gone through a great deal of change"

"I see it"

"Great, so about the fight, during the first half I was scared and unsure, I was also losing, but all of a sudden it felt like my body was being taken over by something else, and at that moment, I won...I still don't know what happened and neither does Mabaya so we were hoping...you do"

Elder Hans had the same facial expression as Mabaya when I told her what happened, I kept my fingers crossed he knew something, anything

"That is very interesting"

"Please tell me you have something in mind"

"I do...but I don't if I'm overthinking it"

"Whatever it is just tell me"

"First of all, from my knowledge, such a case has only ever existed with werewolves, second, it only happened with the wolves of long before, which basically means one thing, do you understand?"

"I-I'm trying to"

"It means, if you've described your situation with accuracy, you, Devenity, are a werewolf belonging to a traditional clan from decades ago"
