Maxine had just come home from selling a cooked dish. At an early age, she had to learn to earn money, especially when her father was sick. When she entered the household, she immediately looked for her mother to give her what she earned today.
"Max! Ang Nanay mo--"
When they arrived at the hospital, they went straight to the Emergency Room. She was about to be hit by the stretcher pushed by the nurses.
She saw her father as well as her older sister Lucille waiting outside the E.R.
"Tay? K-amusta si Inay" she stuttered to ask. Her father did not answer, so she looked at Lucille, who was anxious, "Ate? Ayos lang siya diba?."
Lucille sobbed before speaking "W-ala na ang Inay."
Maxine almost broke down from her position when she heard what her sister had said. She didn't want to believe it, she couldn't accept it "H-inde... Hindi totoo yan!- b-uhay si Inay, d-iba?."
Lucille shook her head and sadly approached her sister "S-abi ng doctor kanina kailangan lang masalinan ng dugo si Inay- kaya nagpakuha ako agad ng dugo, k-aso sabi ng Doctor hindi na kinaya ni Inay-"
Maxine turned to Lucille and held both of her arms "B-aka n-agkamali lang sila!!?- hanggat hindi ko nakikita si Inay, hindi ako maniniwala- M-alakas siya... hindi niya tayo iiwan." Maxine cried, even more, when her sister and her father hugged her.
She believes there is something wrong with the circumstances. Her mother's condition was not that bad, she was sure that the hospital was involved in all the shocking events. She will not be reassured until she discovers what happened that day. As long as there are no answers to her questions, the wound in her heart will remain bleeding and will never heal. Losing a mother is more painful and difficult compared to the pains of life that are thrown at her.
