Chapter 9: The Day

1756 Words
The wedding day that both the Barrington family and Smith family have been looking forward to finally came. To the outside world, it might seem like your usual happy marriage ceremony but deep inside, everyone is sad most especially the Smith family. They had expected this data to be the time when their only daughter Barbara will get married at the ripe age of nineteen but now the Barrington family destroyed everything by offering their daughter an incapable man instead of the alpha king. This action taken by the Barrington family angered them so much but they can't fight back or cut off their only chances of being an in-law to the biggest pack among all the werewolves. To achieve this goal Binaca has to fill in the place of Barbara as a substitute. Binaca stares at the mirror and she couldn't help but feel pity for the broken girl before her. If only her biological parents were alive would they have allowed her to get married to a man she never loved at this age? She never thought she would get married this way, like goods for the best buyer. She shakes her head repeatedly as she stares at herself in the console mirror. She was wearing a white dress that fell to her feet. Lavishly trimmed with blonde lace a white shoe and a white veil. Her hair is gathered into a neat bun at the back of her head. Her makeup is simple with red lipstick and she was putting on jewelry that accented her dress. Even if today wasn't supposed to be her wedding day her mother has decided to make it the best for her as possible since it is a once-in-a-lifetime celebration. If it were up to Bianca, she would’ve opted for black but that would reflect badly on the smith family and everyone might think her to be crazy. so I suppressed that urge and went with this look. Who would have worn black on their wedding day? To the outside world, this might be the happiest day of her life but to her, this is more like a funeral because deep inside her she is bleeding and crying. Marriage was supposed to be a mutual agreement filled with affection for your partner but only for Bianca, it seemed like a dead grave it felt as if she was being pulled to where her death would be marked. She doesn't know what the Barrington family's son looks like except for the one she met the other day but with their second son, she wonders if he will be as fierce as the one that tested her if she is clean nothing about him was delicate and she wonders if the one she would be getting married to would be worst. They are men in power and authority and people like that always treat women like garbage. They have no regard for a woman's opinion or feelings and will always like to ride their wife like the king they are. Then after they are done with her they will abandon her like trash and marry another woman. Bianca's hand tightens in a fist and her body shakes in self-pity when she thinks of how her husband might treat her. As a wife or as his slave? With no regard for women just like every other wealthy man in power. A part of her heart somersaulted in fear when she thinks of the kind of wife she might be. A supportive wife or the other way round. As a wife to the son of such important and high-ranked people, she do be forced to be obedient and follow every instruction of her husband like a puppet that she doesn't know if she could do. "Smile Bianca." She said to herself as she gazed at the mirror. She is thirty minutes away from her marriage and the look on her face doesn't suit a bride-to-be. She was still staring at herself in the mirror and trying to fake a smile when suddenly the door flung open and Barbara barged in. "Wow look at you, you looked beautiful." Barbara flashed her a smile through the mirror. "Have you come here to mock me?" Binaca turned swiftly to meet the malicious look on her sister's face with her hand clenched in a fist as the need to smack her on her face filled her. "Don't say that Bianca I can never mock you. I should be thanking you for saving me from marrying such a man at my tender age." She smiles widely showing Binaca her white set of teeth. Binaca scoffed and the anger boiling through her body increased on hearing those words from Barbara. She is talking about a young age when she is younger than her and hasn't clocked eighteen yet she is forced to marry someone older than her by far. She had a wish in life since she learned of one's fated mate. She had hoped and wished to marry a man mated to her by the moon goddess, once she clocked eighteen and found her mate, but now all her hope and fairy tale came crashing before her eyes now that she was sent to marry when she hasn't clocked eighteen yet. Just a few months to go for her to actualize her dream everything came crashing before her. She once thought her parents loved her and everyone considered her as the true daughter of the Smith family but it turns out that they can place her forward to get married to a man she knows nothing about. At the thought of what this so-called husband will look like fear gripped her tight on the throat choking and depriving life out of her. She knows it won't be easy being a daughter-in-law to the Barrington family but she is ready to face whatever life brings to her. "You don't have to look sober, Binaca. This is not forever. Once you have helped our family to reach the top through your influence as a part of the Barrington family, then you can seek for divorce having the right to share your husband's property equally, then you will leave the marriage Without regret." "Really did you think it is that easy?" Binaca glared at her, her eyes boring holes into her fair skin like a predator. Why does everyone think it will be so easy to leave? According to her family plan, they want to use me to climb the top. "If you think it is that easy, why don't you marry him instead." She walked closer to Barbara, covering the small space between them. Barbara almost stumbled on the floor when her chest creased her chest with such a predatory movement. "Don't act like you don't want this Binaca being married to the Barrington family is a big opportunity for you to become powerful. I would have gone for it but I wanted my man to be perfect and…" Slap! Binaca hit Barbara so hard on the face when she couldn't hold the anger anymore. She hated that Barbara kept talking about her interest when no one considered hers, and she going into this marriage was all Barbara's fault yet she has the audacity to stand before her and spit out rubbish. "Stay far away from me from this moment if you don't want to see my wrath. I am not agreeing to this marriage because of you." She gave Barbara, who was still holding her cheeks a serious warning before she finally walked out of the room in annoyance. Like she has said before, she is not agreeing to this marriage because of anyone, she is only using this to pay the Smith family off for what they have done for her and also to gain her freedom. Once she has come up with enough plans and reasons to leave, she will end the marriage and start a new life, maybe also find her mate. Binaca entangled her hand with Mr. Edward was the man she called father, yet he didn't consider her as his daughter. Following the slow music of the wedding, he held her hand and marched her toward the front altar. The faces that greet her are calm, and composed, almost like this is in fact her wedding day. But she can't feel the vibe like a bride. Today is the day she takes the next step toward her goal and tries to stand out without the help of the Smith family as the next Luna of Wolfsbury's pack. Her heartbeat is about to explode into shredded pieces as she marches down the hall to the altar. Her legs are shaking no matter how hard she tries to force them to remain steady and walk her. It’s like they’re done walking her up for the day. As she walked closer to the altar, the golden statue images turned blurry, and she quickly wiped the evidence of frustration from her eyes. After getting me to the altar, my father left and the groom was called to come out. Everyone was anticipating seeing the second son of the Barrington family, who they all believe to be cripple since no one knows what he looks like except for the rumor about how he got involved in an accident and lost his means of walking. Bianca wasn't looking at the entrance of the door like everyone. She had already accepted her fate with her head bowed. She just wanted this to be done so she could go take a better rest. The groom's entry was supposed to be silent just like Bianca's entry, but what caught her attention was the murmuring from the crowd and this prickly awareness she felt around her. Slowly she lifted her head and narrowed her eyes to the direction of the door, expecting her eyes to meet with a man in a wheelchair. But no, the man coming towards her was walking with his two feet and two men were walking beside him like a king being guided. He is not just walking with his legs, he is freaking handsome and looks like a king to be worshiped. Binaca was shocked that her husband isn't cripple. After all, he was the same man she spent the night with the man she gave her virginity to. She thought she would be a substitute for an incapable vegetarian man, but turns out that she is the alpha's substitute wife. It is done. It is all over.
