Chapter 11Rising early, Geoffrey started his preparations. Once he entered Squire Henry’s manor he wouldn’t know friend from foe. In fact, other than Ralf, Geoffrey doubted any would be friendly. All of the squire’s hired men were likely to be adversaries. Geoffrey patted the paperwork which lay beside the water jug. You’ll not have imagined I would use this against you, Henry, but I have your permission, and that of your whole council, to do whatever is needed. Sitting cross-legged on the floor, Geoffrey cleared his mind. Even though Ralf wasn’t at his side, Geoffrey could in some way feel his lover, as if they shared a connection distance couldn’t sever. Focusing on Ralf for his meditation, just as he did when Ralf was before him, Geoffrey felt stronger, more powerful, and more alert.
